GRE Round Up for May 19

There's some good stuff being turned out by the Gun Rights Examiners. I hope you're availing yourself of it, and importantly, sharing these links via emails, on blogs and forums, with your local newspaper editor, etc.

A common complaint is media bias and absence of representation for "our side."

These people work hard to change that and ask for nothing from those of us their labors serve other than to help spread the word. I hope no one thinks that's too much to ask.

Here are their latest offerings:

Steve D. Jones/Fort Smith:
Oklahoma governor vetoes Firearms Freedom Act… again

Liston Matthews/Knoxville:
NRA 2010 convention in Charlotte, Part II: Friday leadership forum features Sarah Palin

Dave Workman/Seattle:
Is Sacramento’s Braziel SPD top cop front runner?

Kurt Hofmann/St. Louis:
Go. Read. And please share these links.

You're doing that, right?

Four Hutaree Members Released from Jail

"Three of nine members of a Midwest militia accused of conspiring to overthrow the government were released from jail Tuesday," reports Ed White of the Associated Press.

And now today, a fourth member, Kristopher T. Sickles of Ohio has been released. [More]
Today's second GRE...it seems the government has backed off on some claims they were adamant about just a while ago. Which makes me wonder what else they're being less than truthful about...

We're the Only Ones Arresting Development Enough

Her friend, a 15-year veteran Lee county sheriff's deputy, played along in the mock arrest and handcuffed the child and put him in the back of a cruiser. [More]
Isn't that unlawful detention...or is this "Only One" able to "lawfully" do this to anyone he wants?

As for the idiot mother, the telling thing is, the on-site poll show the majority of readers currently agree with her by a 60/40 landslide.

Having had a few moments to think about this, teaching him to fear someone who would do this to him under color of authority may just be a valuable, albeit unintended lesson she just taught the child.

Because Nothing Says Security Like Robot Eyelids

Leave it to Boston government to make such things even creepier. And even more useless. [Read]

And, of course, leave it to the spokesonlyone and our trusted "Authorized Journalist" watchdogs to completely miss a key point:
The entire cost, he said, will be paid by Homeland Security.
Yeah. With their money that they earned.

Sure glad that well is bottomless.

Just Imagine!

Imagine parents who have lost a family member to gun violence having to allow a renter to possess firearms. [More]
Or parents who have suffered a miscarriage having to allow a renter to possess Planned Parenthood literature...

Or parents who have lost a family member to Islamic terrorists having to allow a renter to possess a Quran...

Or...

And by the way, "laws" notwithstanding, I believe the most effective and moral means of combating marketplace discrimination is through free market choices.

WaPo just keeps getting more and more shrill and ridiculous, but "imperil[ing] homeland security" has to be about the most transparently Orwellian argument, especially when juxtaposed against what the Founders knew to be "necessary to the security of a free State"...

I may take up a collection and send their editorial staff a box of these...

"Hindsight Bias"

That's rich, coming from criminal accomplices who are biased against foresight... [Read]

Unsurprisingly, the true crime on the university's part has been completely ignored.

TSA Agent Accused of Stealing Cash from Wheelchair-Bound Woman [More]
But the fedgov doesn't trust us at airports...

Comedy gold from the accompanying video:
"They're federal employees, so you wouldn't expect anything like that to happen to you..."
Ha! Good one!

Quick show of hands: Who has anyone in your life that you consider a friend who would even think about stealing from a woman in a wheelchair?

Who would want anything to do with anyone like that?

The Times...

...they are a-changing...[Read]

Or are they?

One can hope. Not that one should stop preparing.

One Paul won't tip the balance of power, and The Specter being replaced by Joe Sestak isn't going to change anything but the face behind the desk. If it looks like there's the ghost of a chance that any real power shifts are in danger of happening, well, like I said, be prepared.

Ohio Sovereignty Amendment Approved for Signature Gathering

"Among other things, the Ohio Sovereignty Amendment would allow juries to nullify laws; expand the right to bear arms and maintain militias; permit the recall of elected officials by petition signatures alone; ban federal enforcement of laws except through a county sheriff; and require that all public school operations through the 12th grade be regulated at the district level only." [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at yet one more attempt by Liberty activists to peaceably resolve grievances. No one will be able to say we haven't exhausted every avenue.

Also find out about a "fee" increase in Oregon that's reminiscent of nothing so much as a poll tax, why you should book your hotel accommodations with anyone but Marriott, and then grab a gun and head on out to the airport with me today at Noon PST on Trigger Sports LIVE!
