With the blessing of a powerful gun lobby, a bill giving police a break on the cost of background checks when purchasing guns passed unanimously out of a Senate committee Wednesday. [More]Why? Is the theory that if they have their place at the table, it will inspire them to invite the rest of us in from the cold to share the bounty?
Why should anyone be paying fees for background checks? How much time does it really take for an overpaid government clerk (who would have a job anyway) to type a name into a computer?
ReplyDeleteBut I am of the same mind of the "fees" the police charge to respond to false alarms from security alarms. Did the call the cop in and have to pay him overtime? No, he was probably sitting in his car on his tax fattened butt dozing in an alley somewhere. The cop is getting paid if he is responding to false alarms or not.
