Election ‘Victory’ Means Work for Gun Owners Just Beginning

If the most important gun-rights leader in your life is not the one reading these words — that is, you — it’s time you reconsidered why that is. [More]
The Shooters' Log published my midterm election postmortem.  And no, I didn't select the photo or its caption.

Potential Holder replacement requires intensive scrutiny, resolve to score vote

If Lynch does get the nod, it’s incumbent upon activist gun owners to demand getting some specific answers, and not to be put off by weasel words and “I believe in the Second Amendment” equivocation – hell, even Barack Obama says that, right before showing everyone his big “but.” If we can’t get assurances, the only acceptable course for the Senate to take is to reject her, and for that to happen, we can’t stand still for NRA to cheese out on us like they did with Holder. If Lynch turns out to be just another apparatchik, gun owners must demand, as they have with other nominees like Sotomayor, Kagan and Murthy, that not just the confirmation vote, but also the vote to bring it out of committee and onto the floor, be scored. And this time, the impact actually ought to mean more than a measly half-grade reduction. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes a suggested new boss looks suspiciously like the old boss. Hey, who wants to bet if she is put forward and gets some serious opposition that the Prozis will exploit her name to play the race card?

Fair Warning

Ignore grassroots gun owners at your peril. [More]

We'd hate to have to say we told you so.

Plastic Fantastic Lover

It works with plastic, it is fantastic, and I love it. [More]

So naturally, the antis want anyone who feels that way to die, and are even eager to help kill us.

Really.

Go read Kurt's piece. He not only explains, he shows.

Kind'a makes me want to go have a "national conversation on guns" and maybe even offer up a "compromise" or two in the name of "common sense." Either that or tell them to f*** off and come show me what they're made of.

How 'bout you?

Holder's 'idiot' comment shows another progressive contradiction

No, all they wanted to do was find out who the idiots were who thought it would be cool to violate U.S. and Mexican laws by allowing illegal arms shipments to be handed off to murderous cartels so that guns could be recovered at violent crime scenes – meaning found lying on the ground after people had been killed – and then used as fodder to demand more citizen disarmament in this country. All they wanted to do is determine who was responsible for authorizing an illegal operation that has, to date, resulted in untold numbers of dead, with more hits yet to come. As for “idiot cronies,” by default those must include justice-seeking family survivors of murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. [More]
My latest JPFO Alert notes if every day is Opposite Day for "progressives," and if a "progressive" calls you an "idiot," why that must mean... say, wait a minute. That must also mean Holder isn't sincere about his outrage over U.S. guns going to Mexico!

Feeding Frenzy

"You know the thing about a shark, he's got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white." [More]

Florida Carry Action Alert

Yesterday Florida Carry's Lead Counsel, Eric Friday, argued Norman v. State before the Florida 4th District court of Appeals. [More]
There were high load complications with the live feed, but they now have the video of oral arguments available.

Why not make sharing their link with any Florida gun owners you know today's Five-Minute Activism task?

Hot Off the Presses

The January 2015 issue of GUNS Magazine, featuring, among other things, my updated "Rights Watch" column dealing with the Shaneen Allen ordeal in New Jersey (p.60), is now available at finer newsstands throughout the Republic.

If you see one that carries gun magazines but not this one, ask 'em why not.  If you see one that doesn't carry gun magazines at all, shop someplace else.

Now I gotta figure out why my scanner isn't picking up orange and substituting it with pallid pink...

Rotten to the Corps Redux

We talked briefly about the Army Corps of Engineers as it relates to usurping its proper role as subordinate to civil authority in RKBA matters.  Now they're continuing to play at being stooge bureaucrats who view their function as controllers of the waters, which, if true, ought to make them liable for all damages from floods.

Here's the thing. You can sign a petition through a group or you can cut out the middleman and add your thoughts to the official record.

I've got no problem with groups that give us strength through organization and serve the vital function of monitoring developments and mobilizing us when need be, and I'm not disparaging CFACT, merely providing an alternative.  On the other hand, I have significant problems with "groups" that do nothing but siphon off energy and funds that could be put to actual practical use.

I Wonder Where That Fish Did Go

“What kind of a mad prosecutor would try to send this guy up for 20 years?” [More]
This kind, apparently.

WarOnGuns has obtained exclusive video of Roman Martinez and his team making final oral arguments.

We're the Only Ones Wrecked Enough

An "Only One" suppressing evidence?  Say it ain't so! [More]

So should I retract my last post?

Not at all.  You don't let an incident of gun abuse change your mind on RKBA.  Same goes with car abuse.

The only proper response in a free society is to deal with what happened, not to impose prior restraints.

We're the Only Ones Driven Enough

Police cars that make sure cops don't break the law are coming in 2015 [More]
Who thinks for a moment this won't be expanded as a mandate for the rest of us?

After all, there's no shortage -- even among gun owners -- of those who are quick to point out "driving is a privilege." Their assumption seems to be, because it isn't specifically "granted" in the Constitution, it's not a right.

Private Letters

At a daily briefing for reporters, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said he cannot discuss private correspondence between the president and other world leaders. [More]
Well thank goodness it was all private. Allah (blessed be His name) forbid "the most transparent administration in history" would be hiding anything from the public.

"Josh Earnest." I think I've remarked before that the very name is an oxymoron and the embodiment of Opposite Day "progressivism."

Denials notwithstanding, WarOnGuns managed to obtain an "exclusive" copy of the letter in question!

UPDATE: When putting this together, I didn't think there would be any need to explain this is just another one of my Fauxtoshop gags.  I see I was wrong.

A Mugged Liberal

Can't we all get along? [More]

So what have we learned, Chris? Anything?

This is the "progressive" justifying it.  Notice how he and his fellow feral Prozis decry "haters"?

Yes, it's Opposite Day, alright...

594 Myths

Since we know Bloomberg & Co. intend to repeat what they just did in Washington in other states, the time is now -- not when they've got the media saturated -- to make information like this go viral.  [More]

It's also way past time to call the antis' bluff on only wanting "background checks" by daring them to promote a method to ensure prohibited persons are excluded from lawful gun sales where no information identifying either gun buyers or what they purchased needs to be collected.

They won't of course, which means this is one more way their lies can be exposed.

A Right to Rebellion Redux

The Daily Caller picked up my latest GUNS Magazine piece. [More]

Stonewalled

We found that a lot of the background regarding this emerging controversy was anonymously posted by ATF insiders on the blogs of gun rights activists Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars and David Codrea of Examiner.com. So my producer and I contacted Vanderboegh and Codrea, who were in direct contact with some of the principal players. [More]
Mike notices some honorable mentions in Sharyl Attkisson's new book.

Points of order: No ATF insider ever posted here or at Sipsey. All information received was vetted and posted by Mike and me -- we don't turn over the keys to the car. I don't know where she got that idea. Also, yes, she posted a request on CUATF, but I passed along her request along with Vanderboegh's recommendation in order to encourage the decision to speak with her.

Some day, all the emails will come out.

The last time I brought up the subject of recognition, a toxic comment poster accused me of whining. Pretty snottily, too.

No, what I'm doing is trying to set the record straight, correct an injustice and give credit where due.  If the "critic" had been paying attention, he'd know that's something I do every day, with and for all kinds of people and subjects. If anyone thinks I can't do the same for myself and Mike on occasions when I see the truth being further buried -- on my own blog and when no one else will -- then that's just too damn bad.

The Calm Before the Storm?

The affirmation of the Malloy administration in Connecticut, especially, says Mr. Vanderboegh, raises new questions about what the returning governor is planning to do about gun owners who fail to register their semiautomatic rifles and large magazines under a new law signed by Governor Malloy last year. [More]
With Everytown and NRA each crowing, Mike points out the huge elephant in the room neither one wants to even acknowledge, let alone talk about.

Speaking of Connecticut, he could use a hand getting there.

It's time -- way past time -- for everyone who gets value from Mike's work to step up to the plate and return some.

This Day in History: November 7

Your Excellency’s Dog-kennel, at Mount Vernon, is as good a Quarter as that I am now in. The season will be soon severe—and every reason that is disagreeable, induces me to desire the Quar. Master Genl may receive Your Excellency’s positive Orders to fix me at Ellison’s, which is upon every account my proper Quarter... [More]
