  1. Military personnel dodge flag salute are nothing new. I know of peopl whho literally ran to avoid having too, in the '50's

  2. I think the first comment belongs under another post so I removed it from here and placed it there.

    In re the second, no one forced her to volunteer and take an oath. In re the people you knew of in the 50s, there have always been people in the service who did not belong-- I've posted "This Day in History" examples of RevWar soldiers getting 100 lashes. My comment refers to an official top-down permeating political direction that is becoming more apparent.

  3. Sorry, I guess I didn't make clear my meaning. I agree with you fully. I was just pointing out that it is a long-term problem. Getting worse? probably, based on accounts from family members recently in the military.
