Hey, can we start calling them that?

  1. That's fine as long as you have your permission slip from the State. Don't forget to beg permission first!

  2. Thanks, David, for the link to the Dallas FAQs. The parts about where one may and may not carry would apply statewide. I especially liked the anti-swatting section. The advice to parents whose children ask about carrying was good also. It was a pleasant surprise considering the makeup of elected officials in Dallas County and DPD Police Chief.

Longbow, sometimes it is necessary to "go along in order to get along". A wise man chooses his battles carefully. I have sampled the accommodations in county lockup and have no great desire for a return visit. Please note: I don't - AT ALL - like/appreciate/approve of having to get permission to openly bear arms. However, I am happy to finally be able to openly carry in my home state. BTW, no "begging" was involved in obtaining said permission. I DID have to get a very brief overview of Texas law regarding firearms (it SHOULD have had much, MUCH more about TPC Chapter 9 - Justification For Use of Force) and I had to prove I was at least minimally able to hit what I was aiming for. I found no part of the process to be at all onerous.
