It’s fair to wonder about the competency of an administration of an island in the Caribbean that is so unprepared to experience a hurricane it needs to seize firearms from citizens in order to equip its troops. It’s also fair to wonder about the character of those who would strong-arm that citizenry into defenselessness at the very time they will need protection the most, and at a time when the “authorities” will have their hands more than full and vast areas will be left on their own for an indeterminate period. The Daily Caller has the scoop.
Some years' back I worked some jobs in the U.S. Virgin Islands ( St. Croix in particular ) post a hurricane. It was common knowledge in St. Croix an Asian shopping/service complex used firearms to defend their businesses form the "druggies' driven from their forest huts . My hotel night clerk carried a very nice Python . Even then there was an armed robbery at a local country club. Myself and a co-worker were ( unsuccessfully ) assaulted on a street in St. Croix. after venturing out for dinner ! My experience makes me wonder just who this edict is intended to protect ?
ReplyDeleteThe National Guard in the US Virgins doesn't need the weapons held by civilians. The governor simply wants them disarmed.
