A Kinder, Gentler 4473

They have checkboxes now for the “Yes/No” question section.
Which means we can now expect BATFU to close a dealer down for "willful violations" if he accepts "X" instead of "✔"...

And God forbid you just put a slash mark through 'em, like I usually do.

When Did Self Defense Become Morally Wrong?

The message for which those of us in the pro-Second Amendment camp are vilified is no more complicated than this: Each of us has a right not to be hurt by someone else, and if someone tries to hurt us, we have a right to protect ourselves.

The corollary to this fundamental truth is equally simple: We cannot effectively protect ourselves without possessing the means of defense.

My newest Gun Rights Examiner column is up.

Don't be shy about leaving a comment there--and telling a friend.

Meanwhile, Over in Sarah Brady Paradise...

Every police force in the UK is to be equipped with mobile fingerprint scanners - handheld devices that allow police to carry out identity checks on people in the street.
And if you'll step over here, we're going to need a urine sample, and let me just slip on this latex glove...

But don't worry. We're not keeping a database.

Yet.

Coming soon to a continent near you. There is no aspect of public or private lives that some won't insist on monitoring, approving, disallowing, controlling...

Good Excuse!

Nathaniel Rackeem Rivers initially told police he was carrying a loaded weapon to the Hub’s gun-buyback program on May 25.
Next time, don't act like a jackass and you might get away with it.

This is pretty damn funny, really. The fact that he knew about the buyback and that was his premeditated cover story shows there are those looking for ways to exploit them.

Boston-Style "Home Rule"

I WAS pleased to see that Adrian Walker's Oct. 21 column ("Waging a gun battle," City & Region) gave important attention to my home rule petition to close a loophole in our gun laws by increasing penalties for illegal guns found in homes.
"Illegal" means me 'n my boys won't give you permission, or you just got tired of jumping through all the insane hoops we've put up to discourage you (and amuse ourselves that you actually put up with our ****).

And "home rule," of course, means that we rule inside your home.

Gun Bans Don't Prevent Murder

There is no one more persistent than a liberal with a bad idea. He knows his intellectual and moral superiority make him infallible, so he easily convinces himself there is nothing wrong with his idea; it is the world that is mistaken Even the facts cannot be the facts when they disagree with his idea. So he forges ahead against all reason, attempting to remake the world until it accepts he was correct all along.

Which brings me to the subject of gun bans. As useless as bans have proven, liberal politicians will raise the subject over and over.
That's because, in urban areas anyway, it gets their name in the paper, it gets them money and it gets them reelected. And it gives them cover from the fact that it's there policies that feed the problem, which is what they're counting on if they want to keep tapping into that sweet publicity, money and power.

It's nice the new reports are out that confirm how wrong they are. I would not rely on them to change any minds though.

You're dealing with political criminals who lie for personal gain and power, and their army of useful idiots. You're dealing with a culture of dependency.

And like Larry Elder says, "Facts to liberals are like Kryptonite to Superman."

It sounds like I'm throwing water on this opinion piece. I'm not. I applaud this kind of thought originating and getting some attention in Canada. I just got done emailing a correspondent this morning that "I always get filled with hope when I find like-minded foreigners. There are some folks in England and Canada I correspond with who know the score, too."

Opinion pieces like this can be important for educating and making hearts and minds receptive to change. But it's important not to forget they are pieces of the puzzle. If nothing is done with the information, why bother?

That's why I advocate Canadian gun owners familiarize themselves with the National Firearms Association, and get involved in stopping the attacks and reclaiming lost ground.

That and start a massive push to get more people shooting.

Andrew Young Presents...

Former United Nations ambassador Andrew Young, an advocate for peace around the world, is now taking aim at gun violence in the U.S. through a new TV documentary that focuses on the rapper T.I. — a young man making amends for federal firearms offenses. [More]
In other words, T.I., you poetic genius and inspiration to young people everywhere, you got caught being a thug and now you'll sell out the birthright of your countrymen who aren't in order to save your sorry hind end?

That's almost as disgusting as Andrew, who will sell us out for ambition and personal gain.

Note the subtle new emphasis on internationalism at the dawning of the Age of the Lightworker?

Cause or Effect?

Police said the child's death, caused by a fully automatic Uzi machine gun, appears to have been an accident, but it remains under investigation.
No, if the facts of the story turn out to be as stated here, it was caused by adult negligence.

Why Not a Global Gun Ban?

Shouldn't a global treaty against guns be next?
Absolutely, Frida Berrigan, you tool.

Bring it on.

A favorite new talking point of the gunhaters is that the RKBA crowd is being hysterical when we claim that anyone wants to take our guns. Heller, they tell us, took that concern away, and now we can focus on other ways to render the right useless.

So thanks for letting us know the agenda hasn't changed, Frida, and that you and your fellow traveler centralized control freaks at the New America Foundation are just going about it in a different way.

A while back I wrote a critique against "lobbying" the globalists on gun ban treaties. This does not change my position one bit. The answer is "No," and unless some characterizations involving their parentage, virtue or behaviors are added, that's the end of the discussion.

Any enemy, foreign or domestic, who wants to enforce global disarmament by treaty, will be starting a very dangerous game. Kind of like a combination race and hunt.

Material Interference

The college, through General Counsel Brian Nelson, said, "the tragedy of Virginia Tech cannot be underestimated (sic) when it comes to speech relating to firearms – however 'satirical and humorous' the speech may be perceived by some."

"The mention of firearms and weapons on colleges campuses – and in specific LSCS – Tomball – brings fear and concern to students, faculty and staff – which translates into a 'material interference with the operation of the school or the rights of others,'" Nelson wrote.
It looks like Program Manager Shannon Marino, who confiscated the copies, and Student Development Dean E. Edward Albracht, who backed this little lesson in tyranny, along with mouthpiece Nelson, are the ones to materially interfere with...I mean scold.

That said, I'd also like to scold the students who thought this was a good idea. Yeah, you have a right to print your pamphlets, but look, guys, they don't help those of us who are trying to ensure our right to keep and bear arms is observed. Think.

And the jokes weren't even particularly funny. Well, maybe the monkey one...

An Urgent Need

First responders in the United States are not adequately prepared to respond to a suicide bomber attack. Police, fire, and EMS are using protocols that do not anticipate the unique needs of a suicide bomber response. There is an urgent need to develop and implement a consistent approach for responding to suicide bombers.
I actually think there would not be enough police resources to protect the Moslem community if this were to start happening.

I know that's an inflammatory statement. Of course I'm not advocating hate against a group or retaliation against any but the individuals responsible. I'm just saying what I think would happen.

Almost Immediate

A shooting in the heart of the University of Central Arkansas' campus killed two students and wounded a third person, authorities said early Monday.
And it looks like police response was almost immediate.

Almost.

The problem, of course, is they didn't give the shooter a handbook.

This Day in History: October 27

Those who have long too successfully laboured to inflame my people in America by gross misrepresentations, and to infuse into their minds a system of opinions, repugnant to the true constitution of the colonies, and to their subordinate relation to Great-Britain, now openly avow their revolt, hostility and rebellion.
