A Deadly Assault Umbrella, No Doubt

About 40 people in the store, including customers and employees, were told to gather at the front of the store, where they took cover and were guarded by officers. Other officers then conducted a sweep of the store, and found the man in a bathroom.

He was carrying an umbrella. [More]

I'll bet it has one of those semiautomatic latch releases that let it open with one squeeze of the button. I need to get me one in time for the next Bumbershoot.

And I do apologize for that...

If he had been carrying a rifle, sofuckingwhat? He obviously wasn't threatening anybody.

But guess how much scary mileage the gunbanners got out of this article by having the idea of someone having a rifle as a legitimate concern for pantywettling panic.

They are normalizing fear and loathing.

ironiclally the word verification is "harmer", which is what they fear pushers are.

  4. OregonLive website needs to change their URL icon (I forget the technical term--it's the tiny picture which shows up next to the address box or on the browser tab). It looks too much like the Onion.

  7. And, they didn't kill him?

Seems that deadly force would be appropriate protocol in an assault bumbershoot incident.

  8. Like how this dumbass froze up and wouldn't respond to the cops (commands) and such. Which is how a lot of things that go way too far get started. I really believe so many peoples lives lack any meaning, is the reason they act like that. First chance that anything exciting might happen, they turn into a five yr.old.

  9. The article claims that the man ran into the store when he saw officers. Since he was found in the bathroom, I wonder what the odds are that he never saw the cops, and the reason he ran into the store was because he had just eaten at Taco Bell, and was about to soil himself.
