A Prohibited Person?
As Mayor Adam Bradley's long-awaited domestic violence trial began Monday, his wife — whose words have only trickled out through leaked e-mails and police statements — took the stand to accuse her husband of kicking, taunting and abusing her. [More]Now understand I'm not saying I necessarily believe the wife. I've got all kinds of documentation of false accusations, particularly resulting from domestic disputes. There are a lot of crazy partners out there, and the man is innocent until proven guilty.
That said, ordinary mortals generally have ROs filed in these situations, and become de facto "prohibited persons" pending the outcome, and permanent ones if that outcome works against them. I'm just wondering out loud if he's been similarly "disabled".
And why, yes, since you asked:
This is my shocked face.
Mostly B...s...
Georgia and other states with weak gun laws have more crime. [More]This assumes a cause and effect relationship between citizen disarmament edicts and criminal behavior--and that guns cause crime.
It hasn't happened with the first assumption and can be shown as demonstrably untrue with the second--unless someone's been suppressing the news about those 4 million rampaging NRA members. Although an in-depth analysis of Furious Mike's "Only Ones" might cause me to revise that assessment...
From 1992 to 2008, nearly 2,000 New York Police Department officers were arrested, according to the department’s own annual reports of the Internal Affairs Bureau, an average of 119 a year.
Let's see, with approximately 40,000 full-time and auxiliary officers, can anybody figure out how much more "law-abiding" we who live just fine amidst "loose gun laws" are...?
PolitiFact scammers can take their Truth-O-Meter and throw it at the next reptile who decides he owns them.

False Alarm--Thank Your Lucky Stars
A campuswide alert warning of a gunman at the University of Missouri-St. Louis this morning turned out to have been caused by a longtime professor carrying antique guns as props for a class lecture, officials said. [More]
Seeing they're evidently not prepared to do anything but issue email alerts, I wonder what the headline would have read had he been an actual “gunmanTM”?

And in related news, it looks like our old amigos Los Zetas have struck out on their own.
I guess they didn't sign a non-compete agreement with the Gulf Cartel?

What's a Little Payoff Between Friends?
A lobbyist known as one of California's most successful power brokers while serving as a legislative leader in that state paid Rep. Maxine Waters' husband $15,000 in consulting fees at a time she was co-sponsoring legislation that would help save the real-estate finance business of one of the lobbyist's best-paying clients, records show. [More]That would be Mike Roos, co-author of California's Roberti-Roos "assault weapons" ban.
You know, the guy who doesn't think you're trustworthy enough to handle technology that's been around since 1885.
We're the Only Ones Facilitating Enough
Hobbs was first suspended in 2002 for having sex with another Portland cop while one of the two was on duty and using police mobile computer e-mails to facilitate the relationship. She was set to face the same discipline for continuing to use work e-mails to arrange on-duty clandestine meetings with the same colleague in 2005. [More]So at $2,000 and 100 hours of paid vacation time restored, how much does that work out to?
Mayor Sam to Proposition City Council
Adams sought input on the proposals from community groups, local and state officials, attorneys and criminal justice experts. [More]Yeah, except when he got input he didn't like, he whined about "bullying tactics".

In the spirit of CUM ULLA SELLA IN PUGNO TABERNA, might I suggest notifying the fine folks who believe a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy, and demanding they vigorously protest this cruel abuse and endangerment of these "unique personalities"?

The Queensland Menace
Under the new laws, introduced last year, dogs can be declared menacing if they cause fear, which could include a behaviour such as rushing at a person on the other side of a fence. [More]We must ban deadly assault Chihuahuas. Because we all have a right to "feel" safe...
What the hell happened to the Aussies? I guess the same thing that's happened to most of our heirs of Liberty...

Violent leftists agree with SPLC and 'Waco Jim' on threat from the armed right
Just in case you were wondering who agrees with the SPLC’s and Waco Jim’s concerns about you being an armed conservative or libertarian… and about the type of company the fascist opposition keeps. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at--when you stop and think about it--some natural allies.
