One Ring to Rule Them All, One Ring to Find Them

My Precioussss...
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. [More]

An Idea Whose Time has Come

I'm starting to warm up to a selectively-applied Open Properties Foundation... [More]

Can we add "birthright family membership" with all attendant rights and privileges for dropping one over the wall...?

Lowering the Barr

On the assault weapon front, the proposal before us is the DeConcini amendment. And I think ... I would support both the Brady Bill waiting period and the DeConcini [semi-auto ban] amendment, provided that they were parts of a broader and more comprehensive crime bill that included ... very tough provisions on the use of firearms in crimes and illegal purchase and trading in firearms... [More]
Yeah, I know.

I took the liberty of modifying the canned letter:

Closing the Stable Door

Democrats still have a strong pull  on a large percentage of Hispanic votes, but GOP support from the group is stable. [More]
For now, not that a stable 70/30 guarantees anything but a win for Team Totalitarian...

And all those rewarded for invading and their children molded by public schools will only guarantee the ratio getting worse.

With 'Steadfast Allies' LikeThis...

It also would allow police and others to seek protective orders preventing someone from buying a gun if they pose a threat. [More]
That's because he's "a steadfast ally in the fight to protect our constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms."

OK, We Give Up...

The number of airport security screeners failing to show up for work around the country is soaring as the partial government shutdown goes into its fourth week. [More]
Dang. Who's gonna grope Mom?

A Temporary Setback

The government attorney assigned as liaison in Terry et al v. U.S. Department of State has been furloughed in the shutdown. We'll pick up again pending appropriations.

"Commonsense gun safety laws," anyone...?

Putting the "Reich" in Erenreich.

If I had a gun and knew how to use it, my first target would be the fiends who’ve been destroying Joshua Trees in the eponymous park. The rest of you bastards can wait. [More]
And naturally she doesn't want you to have a gun.

Actually, her whole Twitter feed reads like a parody of the raging bitter leftist hag stereotype. I wonder how many cats she owns.

I know the area in question well -- it was one of our preferred camping sites when we lived in SoCal and we have many happy memories from there. One truism I have noticed about all wilderness areas -- the easier they are to get to by car, the more of an attraction they are for the same types who trash their neighborhoods.

Our groups, which included many of the types of people she seems especially hostile to, applied the same ethic we lived our lives by to making sure what we left were footprints that the high desert winds would soon blow away.

Who Could Have Known?

She said he was wearing an ankle bracelet due to charges stemming from the ex-girlfriend he took hostage. [More]
So obviously, the answer is more New Jersey "laws" to disarm you and me.

Right?

So what will they do to stop it, and to send a clear message that new attempts will be repulsed?

Funny how @Jack allows this with no repercussions.

Are You Sleeping?

...I thought to myself, it isn’t a coup against Trump it’s a coup against us. Those of us who are awake. [More]
And for those who aren't...?

Ourselves and Our Posterity

The U.S. needs a birth rate of at least 2.1 children per woman to replace the current population of the country without experiencing population decreases. [More]
What should the population be? Would deleterious effects of a decrease be the same across the board? Aren't some populations increasing? Is that good or bad? What effect is that likely to have on the balance of political and economic power? Would the main effect of a decrease in the productive sector mean a more rapid collapse of the Ponzi scheme?

Toning Down the Old Toxic Masculinity

‘Cut the Wire,’ a Toy Bomb Game, Is Discontinued After Criticism [More]
They should have told the Marxist bluenoses where to shove the bomb. I don't know any boy that wouldn't think this is cool -- at least until the brainwashers got hold of him or doped him out on Ritalin if he didn't get with the program.

And I believe I owe this man an apology. It's his former colleagues that ought to be ashamed of themselves.

When feral sons Uday and Qusay were cubs, we'd occasionally go to those restaurants that give you those coaster thingies that buzz and light up when your table is ready. We'd pass the time playing it was a bomb and passing it around after holding it a minute to see who it "exploded" on.

We still play it on rare occasions when we find ourselves in one of those joints.

Betrayal in Waiting?

Donald Trump says he’s open to Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons age limit – or even a ban [More]
Some of us have been careful to clarify we support the agenda he ran on and had eyes wide open on the man, especially considering his past statements.  Some no doubt will once more attribute this to genius-level three-dimensional chess being played out several moves ahead.  Being a man of lesser faith in political saviors, I'm scratching my head over why he seems to think, when beset on all sides, that it's a good idea to demotivate the only supporters he's got left, especially since ejecting him and moving Pence to the top slot might end up being a windfall move.

I got this link from Herschel, who has some thoughts of his own.

And UPDATE: I didn't realize this story was a year old. Still, the caution is timeless.
