And the Best Acting Award Goes to...

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded for forgiveness from his family and his constituents Wednesday in an emotional televised speech, his delayed response to recently revealed racy text messages that contradict his sworn testimony that he did not have a physical relationship with a key aide...

"I am the mayor. I made the mistake," Kilpatrick told Detroit residents, looking into the camera. "I am accountable."
No, a "mistake" is when you're adding and forget to carry a number over to the next column.

Perjury is a deliberate, premeditated felony, not an accident. Especially when both of you falsely testify to the same lie under oath. Then it also becomes conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

You're not trying to be accountable, you're trying to evade by being pathetic to evoke sympathy. And the way your supporters, particularly women and those in the "religious" community, are rushing to your defense is representative of the type of willfully blind enabling that makes so much crime possible.

But it's easier to blame the guns, isn't it?

Ron Paul on National Defense

This "Open Letter to Neal Boortz Listeners" has a lot of good summary information that those of you holding out ought to carefully evaluate.

One other point I'd like to make to those of you who argue there hasn't been another (major) terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11--first off, we don't know, as a lid is being kept on things, but there were credible reports that among these have been some of the devastating western wildfires.

But even that's not the point.

If you look at the first bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, Bill Clinton could make the same claim about his presidency--that his competent and effective national security policies kept us safe until George Bush took over.

No?

We're the Only Ones Pimpin' Enough

A 13-year-old runaway returned home with a horrific account of being forced into prostitution by the kind of person who should have instead come to her aid: a city detective.

And I wonder--
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder,
Why,
Why, why, why, why, why she ran away,
Yes, and I wonder,
A-where she will stay-ay,
My little runaway,
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
Run, run, run, run, runaway.

The Company He Keeps

There's one other point I wanted to make about last night's debate.

John McCain said:

I'll rely on people to judge me by the company that I keep.
and
I hope that some people judge me by those that are supporting me.
Fair enough.

Senator McCain: You recently announced you were supported by Sylvester Stallone, who not only endorses government confiscation of firearms, but also jokes about how he "injected [a former girlfriend] with [his] fist."

Comment? Should we judge you by him?

Senator...?

A Numbers Racket

I took last night's CNN republican debate transcript and crunched some numbers. I pulled it into Word to get aggregate totals using the "Find" utility with "Match Case"--as candidates speaking were presented in upper case. Here's what it showed:

ROMNEY: 49
MCCAIN: 45
HUCKABEE: 16
PAUL: 9

A bit of a disparity there, don't you think? And I couldn't help but notice Jim VandeHei from Politico initiated only one question to Dr. Paul. Janet Hook from the LA Times didn't even acknowledge he existed.

Here's something else that bothered me:

PAUL: ...But I would like to take one minute, since I didn't get a chance to answer this discussion on conservative versus liberal.

COOPER: We're going to have -- I promise you we're going to have -- you're going to have another opportunity to do that. I promise you, coming up in like two minutes or two questions.

Go ahead and find where Anderson kept his promise.

We've talked before--several times--about how the "Authorized Journalists" are marginalizing Dr. Paul by omission. He needs to do a better job of not allowing that to happen, particularly in debates where he has some immediate control--by gently but firmly protesting being ignored, and insisting on equal time for all candidates.

I think if, during commercial break, he and Huckabee decided to walk out in protest when the cameras came back on, they'd not only have their own impromptu mini-debate/news conference with plenty of reporters, but it would be today's major headline, completely overshadowing the meaningless posturing, pandering and prevarication that went on last night between establishment darlings Romney and McCain. That's a guerilla move--millions of dollars worth of free publicity that would also set them apart in a way, I believe, that many Americans who are sick of the same old BS and manipulation would admire.

I haven't seen anything on this from the "Authorized Journalists," but that means less and less these days. So we'll assume it's on the up and up.

Civil Disobedience

The Bush Administration does not want convicted felons to to lawfully own firearms. What if the convicted felon's only crime was the civil disobedience of an anti-Constitutional, anti-gun law?
The Liberty Belles' Jennifer Freeman brings up something every gun owner needs to think about. The sad thing is, there will be no shortage of "enforce existing gun law" heroes on the gun boards who will tell you anyone who disobeys knew there were consequences and deserves what he gets, makes us all look bad, and should work to change laws they disagree with and obey them in the interim.

The question we should ask ourselves is whether we think these forum warriors are instrumental in--or obstacles to--securing real liberty.

A New Gun Claim

The gun used to shoot and blind a TTC bus driver two years ago has been shuffled between criminals, Toronto police said yesterday, and is implicated in four other crimes, including the 2003 murder of youth worker Kempton Howard.
You know what would solve that?

A registry of legal owners. That and forbidding the "law-abiding" to own them.

Don't you think?

And here's a new one on me from the "Authorized Journalists." They've told us about guns that go off and guns that kill, but I believe this is the first I've heard about guns that "claim sight."

You learn something new every day.

Republican Gun Control

ANTI-GUN CRUSADERS seem worried about the advent of a Republican administration. Heaven knows why. Republicans, in recent years, have managed to do nearly as much damage to the Second Amendment as Democrats.

Clearing Up "Misconceptions or Apprehensions"

In terms of what “serious” activists on both sides of the issue want for handguns and “assault weapons”, that’s easy. Serious gun controllers want to ban them and serious RKBA advocates will not surrender theirs. Intermediate steps like licensing, registration, etc. are just that–increments on the way to a goal.

I try my best to depart from my usual scorched earth policy. I don't know if the effort is worth it with Suzanne Harris, but maybe some of her readers will be receptive...

And while I join those who are disappointed at Dr. Paul's showing in Florida, it's hard to make the argument that he hasn't beaten Rudy Giuliani on the whole thus far, and there's been no shortage of coverage for "America's Mayor" (if for no other reason than to see what time the comet's leaving...)

A Devastated Family

The way this is written make the guns the guilty party and does its level best to make the criminals in the Cooper family out to be victims.

An interesting glimpse into "Authorized Journalist" manipulation...

Spitzer's Political Perpetual Motion Machine

Nearly every one of the 225 violent felons authorized for release during Gov. Spitzer's first 11 months in office had been convicted of murder, records made public by the state Parole Board yesterday showed. [More]
That way, they can kill again using "illegal guns," and Eliot can exploit that to the benefit of his career. If you flow-charted the process, it would be represented by a loop. But Eliot's got enough extraneous Rube Goldberg diversions built into the design so that it's not readily apparent.

As long as he has an endless supply of criminals to feed into the hopper on one end, he'll be able to continue the illusion for those who don't know any better.

Listing to the Left

Canada's billion-dollar national gun registry doesn't keep up-to-date stats on the number of legal handguns in the country, the Sun has learned.

Meanwhile, Canadian urban violent crime escalates, as do calls to ban guns owned by citizens obedient enough to be registered. That a gun from the registry was apparently used in one of the anecdotes related here has served to fuel that--despite the obvious, that it was used illegally.

It's just so totally freaking insane. That anyone can't see it, that we're even having an argument points to a monumental convergence of evil--that would be you, Messrs. Layton, McGuinty and Miller-- ignorance--that would be you, Canadian citizen gun control advocates--and abdication--that would be everybody not engaged in opposing them.

The registry doesn't work as a crime fighting tool because it was never supposed to: the controllers know it's just a matter of probability before a listed gun is used in a criminal act, which they can then leverage into a blood dance opportunity. The hidden end is, the biggest proponents of maintaining and expanding the registry are the ones who ultimately want it to disappear completely--just as soon as there are no private--I mean, "legally owned" guns to register.

Deliver Us from Saslaw

In a clearly audible voice, Senator Saslaw said to his companion: "I see we're debating a gun bill today. Half of the cast of Deliverance is in town." [More]
So, Senator, just out of curiosity, what would you be prepared to do if someone with malevolent intent said "you got a purdy mouth..."?

Squeal like a pig?

A True Assault Weapon

"D.C. statute states anything that you use in a prohibited manner can be considered a prohibited weapon," he said. "Even a writing pen could be considered prohibited under certain circumstances."
Yes, exactly. That's what an assault weapons is.

It's one of the reasons I've always enjoyed Jackie Chan movies--he takes every day objects and employs them as integral parts of his fight choreography. If you don't assess your surroundings, wherever you may be, and don't notice what is at hand and how it could be used, I'd recommend more focus on situational awareness. Knowing what is around you--to pick up, to wield, to throw, to get behind--can be every bit as important as who is around you.

You never know when you'll need to buy yourself a few seconds to get to your carry weapon (or to give yourself an edge if caught without it), and besides, making this a habit can only help reinforce the mindset needed to anticipate, react and prevail.

"According to Rasmussen Reports"

Once again Faux News is silently sabotaging the Ron Paul campaign through omission.

I guess if you can pick your standard, as opposed to how the candidates have actually performed to date, you can justify Rudy being there as a "leading candidate" but Paul not being one...

That they felt they needed to qualify their presentation shows they know exactly what they're doing. They should have and could have posted all the candidates without qualifiers. It's obvious they just don't want their viewers to see the name "Ron Paul," so they are intentionally suppressing it. And by letting everyone who might notice know he's not "leading," why, there's a bit of discouragement tainting as well.

That's some "news" organization, manipulating the electorate under the guise of reporting facts.

"Fair and balanced" my left knee..."You Decide"-- based on what we choose to tell you.

Even if you're not for Ron Paul, I'd think having the information gatekeepers pull this crap should be enough to make you wonder what the establishment is so afraid of. It should certainly tell you why I have devoted a category on this blog warning about the dangers of "Authorized Journalists."

The San Andreous Fault

A man accidentally shot and killed himself at a West Dallas party early Saturday after showing off his pistol to friends...A group of friends had been drinking...when Andreous Robinson, 20, went outside around 1 a.m. and shot a few rounds into the air. Police said Mr. Robinson then came back inside and thought that he'd discharged all of the rounds, so he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger...His death came less than a day after a man was fatally shot in a similar incident...four men were drinking vodka and using crack cocaine Friday afternoon when one of them accidentally shot another to death.
See, if only they'd disarm you and me, this kind of stuff would never happen.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum

A federal judge said Friday that Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration did not commit a crime when it sent undercover investigators into gun shops to attempt illegal weapons purchases as it prepared to sue the dealers.
Then if no "straw purchases" were made, that must mean the dealers did not commit any crimes in selling the guns.

Cases dismissed?

A Hill of Beans

From Victor Bean, Owner, Southern Classic Gun and Knife Show:
As you already know, Tuesday, January 29, there is a presidential primary. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. I am a registered Republican, and I will be voting for Senator John McCain. Governor Charlie Crist has also endorsed Senator McCain.

Bill Bunting spoke personally with Senator John McCain, Governor Mitt Romney, and Governor Mike Huckabee over the weekend. As most of you know, Bill is chairman of the Republican Party of Pasco.

Senator McCain will sign on to a national right-to-carry bill if Congress brings it to his desk. As far as he is concerned, the gun show loophole is a moot point, and he will appoint judges who follow the Constitution.

Lou Oliver, Chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County, said Governor Huckabee would make a great vice president. I recently appeared on the Kathy Fountain Show (Fox News Network) in a half hour live show on presidential politics with Bill in Tampa with live call-ins. Bill is our strongest supporter when it comes to the Second Amendment whether at a gun show, on television, or in the newspapers.

I spoke to Senator McCain on his cell phone on Saturday night. He will be "humbly gratified" if we support him.

Victor

Right. Nothing like straight talk.

Could I have another glass of Kool-Aid, Victor? And maybe put a little bit more saccharine in it this time?

Luke O. is none too happy, and shared his email reply with us:
Yes, I'm sure Senator McCain is very, very sorry, he's learned his lesson and he'll never, ever even consider betraying gun owners again... at least not until his warm, close gun-grabbing, Bill-of-Rights-hating friends Joe Lieberman, Russ Feingold and Ted Kennedy ask him to.

John McCain has a long history of working against both the Second and First Amendments, against conservative values and against our sovereignty and border security. I wouldn't vote for McCain, Romney, Giuliani or Huckabee if Satan himself were the Democratic nominee.

When Senators take their oath of office, they don't swear to keep us safe, they don't swear to work for this lobby or that special interest. They swear before God and man to preserve, protect and defend the CONSTITUTION! John McCain has demonstrated that he sees the Bill or Rights as a list of helpful suggestions, and nothing more. The Bible says that those who cannot be faithful in small things will not be faithful in large things. If we couldn't trust John McCain to uphold his oath as a Senator, we can't trust him to do it as a President.

There IS a committed pro-gun candidate in the race- you know damned well who I'm talking about. It's amazing to me that you and your ilk will make excuses for a faithless opportunist and chameleon like McCain and won't even consider supporting the statesman who is gun owners' best friend, the taxpayers' best friend, the Bill of Rights' best friend on Capitol Hill, bar NONE. In light of your craven endorsement of this notorious enemy of the Bill of Rights, I will never set foot in one of your shows again, and I am going to contact the area gun dealers who rent tables at your shows to inform them that as long as they do business with you, they will do without my business as well. And I will encourage every Florida gun owner I know to do the same.
I guess Luke wasn't thirsty and has had it with gun rights compromisers who are full of...beans.

Million Mom March Apple Pie Award Finalists

WarOnGuns has two finalists to nominate to the Million Mom March for their "Apple Pie Award." As you'll see, both the nominees are deserving, so it's a really tough choice that only the Moms can make.

First we have Sean Connery, that dashing Double-O-Seven, for his work disarming his countrymen:

A voice-over from former 007 James Bond actor Sean Connery says: "It is said a total ban on handguns, including .22s, would take away innocent pleasure from thousands of people." The man in the film fires a rapid succession of shots, devastating a human- shaped cardboard target. Connery says: "Is that more or less pleasure than watching your child grow up?" The film closes with the words: "Remember Dunblane. Ban all handguns."
You can see him recommend a woman be "shaken, not stirred" here:
I don't think there is anything particularly wrong in hitting a woman, though I don't recommend you do it the same way that you hit a man.

You can see him "clarify" that belief to Barbra Walters here. Ahhh, OK, it's not as bad as I thought: It's only if you don't shut the hell up when he tells you to.

Next up we have the old HGH hunk himself, Sylvester Stallone. Yo:

We need one person in an influential position to stand up and tell the truth about gun control lobbies... Until America, door to door, takes every handgun, this is what you're gonna have... this is an escalating problem that’s eventually going to lead to, I think, urban warfare...It [2nd Amendment] has to be stopped, and someone really has to go on the line, a certain dauntless political figure, and say, ‘It’s ending, it’s over, all bets are off. It’s not 200 years ago, we don’t need this anymore, and the rest of the world doesn’t have it. Why should we?"
And Sly is equally gallant with the ladies:

The talk quickly turned to women, with Sly denying Janice Dickinson's claims he injected her with steroids. "The only thing I injected her with was my fist," he joked.
So how 'bout it, Moms? Which of these champions of "common sense gun laws" would you rather have women defenseless against? Which one strikes your...uh...fancy? Who deserves a slice of that pie...?

While you're making your minds up, go get Sean and Sly a beer. And don't make them ask you twice...

"The only thing I injected her with was my fist," he joked.
Ha ha. Great joke, Sly, domestic abuse and beating women! That's the kind of stuff from which "prohibited persons" are made, thanks to the Lautenberg Amendment. But it does kind of explain why you might be against women having any kind of equalizer...

Add to this the HGH abuse to buff you into animal size, and ol' Rocky Balbozo's fist could do quite a bit of damage there.

The good news is, "Rambo" came in behind "Meet the Spartans." The bad news is, our culture is debased enough to reward either of these "efforts."

In the furtherance of my often-stated "any chair in a bar fight" philosophy, I would encourage you to help me apply some leverage to further complicate this oaf's ability to profit off the citizenry he would disarm. So I'm asking people to help me recruit an unlikely ally, but one with the clout to make this happen, the National Organization for Women:

Tennessee Treason

SECTION 4.
(a) All handgun and assault weapon ammunition manufactured or sold in thestate after January 1, 2009, shall be coded by the manufacturer.
(b) No later than January 1, 2011, all non-coded ammunition for the calibers
listed in this act, whether owned by private citizens or retail outlets, shall be disposed.

Tyrant wannabes in the Tennessee legislature are going for an ammo grab, in this case, Memphis Mandarins Reginald Tate and Larry Miller.

Here are the links for SENATE BILL 3395 and its counterpart, HOUSE BILL 3245. You can track status of the bills here.

They want to require etching "identifiers" on "the base of the bullet projectile"--and note it says "all," so .22 ammo sold in blocks is evidently not exempt. Then note requirements for a manufacturer's registry, a vendor's registry, mandates for investigations by the TBI, and staffing and maintaining a database--nothing that will stop one violent criminal from using noncompliant ammunition in a stolen firearm...

Can you imagine a more foolish squandering of financial resources at a time when Tennesseans are struggling to keep their jobs and their houses, or law enforcement resources when they can't prevent crime already without sidelining personnel on this nonsense?

Oh but that's OK, because there's "No fiscal note for the bill!"

That's because the overlords envision an "end user fee":

SECTION 7.
(a) The cost of establishing and maintaining the ACSD shall be funded by an end-user fee. Vendors shall charge an additional one half cent ($.005) per bullet or round of ammunition to the purchaser.
(b) There is established the coded ammunition fund for deposit of the end-user fees described in this section. Moneys in the fund, upon appropriation, shall be available to the TBI for infrastructure, implementation, operational, enforcement, and future development costs of this act.

And, of course, if half a cent is good, why in a few years, a whole cent will be even better! Besides, costs are going up and gun owners are outnumbered and generally despised by our urban constituencies--why not go for even more?

I wonder how many ammunition makers are going to just pull up stakes? And the "All" caveat seems to rule out handloading, or at least I don't see an exemption that states for certain at what threshold of production a self-producer becomes a "manufacturer"...

I also don't see any provisions for out-of-state "sportsmen" bringing tourist dollars in to hunt and shoot. I suppose setting up traps for them can also be a good source of revenue...

Question for all you "law abiding" Tennessee gun owners, the only people this bill will affect (that is, the ones not responsible for the problems): When they order you to surrender your non compliant ammo a little under three years from now, are you going to give it to them?

I don't know the chances this abomination has of passing--but I do know Tennessee is the state that inflicted Al Gore on the rest of us, and the urban representation seems just as unabashedly Marxist as anywhere else. Were I a Tennessean, I'd be on the horn to my representative at opening of business tomorrow morning, and I'd follow that up with a letter and an email.

Letting Go of Our Defenses

In fact, the general prosperity of the United States, lasting more than half a century, has coincided with the destruction of traditional moral values, the breakdown of the family, a weakening of community, the degradation of intellectual culture, the fraud of our public schools, and the splintering of American culture. The most basic political questions are no longer asked or answered by politicians. Since the country became a shopping mall regime, politics has been about the redistribution of income with the assumption of ongoing prosperity. In other words, we have sacrificed our children’s future, our national security and our common sense to the shopping mall gods – to hedonism and a destructive series of assaults on authority (i.e., patriarchy). As a nation, Americans have turned to hedonism, solipsism and narcissism.
Good synopsis of the way things are, the way "we" have allowed them to become in "our" quest for expediency and the easy way out. No wonder people of the character described here do not see the need for soberly assuming the responsibilities of free men.

Ron Paul Campaign on Iraq Withdrawal

One of the objections against supporting Ron Paul some have given in previous post comments is his pledge that he would "immediately withdraw" from Iraq. Their fear is this would cause chaos and death, as withdrawals done with proper attention to details take time.

This is a statement the campaign emailed to me yesterday:
Dr. Paul would rely on the advice of the JCS to develop and implement a withdrawal plan. Far be it for him to micromanage such an operation.

A gun ownership rights advocate says if the Bush administration has its way, any court in the country would be able to overrule the U.S. Constitution and ban guns for law-abiding citizens to use for self defense or even hunting.
Just in case all the "sportsmen" lining up in a gun store to grin like dolts and shake hands with John Edwards think their hunting guns are safe...

If the "Vote Freedom First President" has his way, his democrat successor, whoever she is, will have the last roadblocks removed.

We're the Only Ones Turning a Blind Eye Enough

Madison officials have fired the police supervisor of the midnight shift after officers under his watch were accused of inappropriate relations while on duty.

A hearing ended at about noon for Sgt. Tim Heiden, who police have accused of failing to monitor officers during their shifts. The officers have been accused of theft, stalking and meeting with prostitutes and felons.
Because, you know, "The Only Ones" are so superior to you and me in terms of character, judgment, trustworthiness, morality..all that stuff.

That's why "Chief Jakubson is a respected member of...[the] International Association of Chiefs of Police..."

You know, the GloboCops who teamed up on a report with the Joyce Foundation that funds all those subversive citizen disarmament efforts...

We're the Only Ones Dealing Enough

Three more New York City police officers have been suspended without pay and stripped of their guns and badges in a widening police corruption investigation that involves paying confidential informants with drugs, officials said on Wednesday...

Because of problems arising from the scandal, prosecutors have moved to dismiss 80 criminal cases because the officers caught up in alleged wrongdoing were considered critical to successful prosecutions, law enforcement officials said. A hundred more potentially tainted cases are being analyzed, officials said.

Read the whole thing. It's just disgusting.

Only New York "Only Ones," Bloomberg's enforcers, keeping and bearing arms... And remember, don't you dare lift a finger...

Be warned. The biggest street gang will brook no competition.

Where the hell are the feds in this, and why don't they maybe do a no-knock dynamic entry, and seize the Brooklyn South Narcotics bureau building under asset forfeiture...?

The UK's "Spiralling Problem"

The spiralling problem with gun culture was highlighted by figures that show 28 firearms crimes are committed in England and Wales every day.
Couldn't they have a lie-in or a buyback or something--you know, something that's been proven to work...?
There were 10,182 firearms offences in the year to the end of September compared with 9,755 in the previous 12 months - an increase of more than 400 crimes, or more than eight every week.
And those are just the crimes that were reported, mind you. If businesses are only reporting one in eight 8 crimes, what do you think the chances are those living in or around the criminal subculture have a higher rate?

Or that the ones being reported are properly accounted for?

"Spiralling" indeed. Like down the drain and into the sewer.

A Cautionary Tale

On January 19, 2008 I had a negligent discharge of my pistol. It's a Rock Island full size 1911. .45 ACP loaded with Federal Hydro Shok ammunition. This round utilizes a 230 grain jacketed hollow point bullet...The bullet entered my right inner thigh above the knee and exited the calf a couple of inches away lower and more to the rear of my thigh on my thigh.
A first-hand account and it ain't pretty, but is is sobering. Photos are included (just a warning to the squeamish).

Let's be careful out there.

Red's to Get its Day in Court

Why that should have ever been an issue is beyond me, but that's the position the masters have us in.

Anyway, Ryan seems happy, so I'm happy for him.

Now let's just hope the judge will let him argue the law.

The Other Badness in the Bill

From Joe Merchant:
One of the local TV stations did a story on upcoming gun bill hearing. In the story, they misreported some info (I know, shocking). I've seen this bad info popping up on gun blogs, and have tried to fix it.

Here's the skinny: This law is all kinds of bad, but part of the minor stuff is that it requires all retail gun dealers to provide trigger locks. KMTV reported that it mandated the USE of trigger locks.

The problem is it's not part of the bill and diverts needed attention from the real threat...The GunViolence Commission. Take a look at
http://joemerchant24.blogspot.com/2008/01/break-down-of-lb958-ashford-crime-bill.html
and see if you can help me spread the word that we need to drop the fuss over trigger locks and focus instead on the other badness in this bill.

Academics for the Second Amendment Need Your Support NOW

A WarOnGuns guest editorial by
Thaddeus Fendon

To all my friends who are 2nd Amendment Supporters:

Check out:

http://academicssecondamendment.blogspot.com/

These are the original scholars who were defending the 2nd amendment many years ago, long before the "individual right" theory became widely known. They created the foundation of scholarship underlying the legal arguments in our favor today.

Unfortunately, as of today, they have raised only $10,529.58! If this is all the 2nd Amendment is worth to gun owners then we deserve to and will lose it. Hope your chains rest lightly ...

If there is any good news, it's that small amounts of money will actually matter to this organization and your contribution is tax deductible. They are continuing on with their effort to file a brief to the Supreme Court regardless of the support they receive.

This is a critical moment in history. The Supreme Court will decide if the Second Amendment recognizes an individual right and whether that right is deserving of the same level of judicial protection afforded to the other rights recognized by the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments).

Are you tired of your Second Amendment rights being a second class citizen? Ignored, inferior and constantly infringed by tens of thousands of municipal, state and federal outrages? A situation the Bush Justice Department legal brief to the Supreme Court has supported. A situation the NRA has tolerated and even been partly responsible for creating. (For example, the machine gun laws from the 1930s and the 1968 Gun Control Act).

This is your one chance to support people who are trying to change history instead of funding the NRA Executive Director's golden pay package. This chance will probably not come again for a long, long time. Prospects for a pro gun president are nil, and the new President will be appointing more Supreme Court Justices. We cannot afford to put less than a maximum effort into winning this case.

From the founding of our country to today, many have given their lives in defense of our freedoms. I'm just asking you to give money.

Oral arguments begin on March 18. Briefs to overturn the ban are due Feb. 4.

The hard work in preparing briefs is being done right now. Don't delay.

Thad

Rambo Opens Today

We need one person in an influential position to stand up and tell the truth about gun control lobbies... Until America, door to door, takes every handgun, this is what you're gonna have... this is an escalating problem that’s eventually going to lead to, I think, urban warfare...It [2nd Amendment] has to be stopped, and someone really has to go on the line, a certain dauntless political figure, and say, ‘It’s ending, it’s over, all bets are off. It’s not 200 years ago, we don’t need this anymore, and the rest of the world doesn’t have it. Why should we?"

Any gun owner who goes to see this is helping this mudhead hypocrite pretend warrior disarm everyone else.

45Superman tells me Sly is a McCain man.

Figures.

Ryan has more.

Boycott this movie and tell every gun owner you know to do the same.

...41 District workers have been fired or suspended after visiting pornographic Web sites on government computers...

Of the fired employees' estimated 200 work days a year, the investigation showed that they visited pornographic Web sites 100 times per day, Mayor Adrian Fenty says.

Employees from 18 city agencies, including the Office of the Attorney General, were accessing pornographic or sexual Web sites.
"Home Rule" at its finest, no doubt. Well, with their obscene position in Heller, this should really come as no surprise.

Aid and Comfort to the Enemy

I caught a clip on CNN the other night, John Edwards shaking hands with men inside a gun store in South Carolina.

Seriously, what the hell?

Who were these fools smiling and greeting him? And who is the idiot gun store owner hosting the photo op?

Good grief, are the "sportsmen" and truly that clueless? That's a rhetorical question--I know from bitter experience that this should not surprise me.

I've looked high and low for the clip but no luck--anyone finding it, please chime in.

Strokeback Mountain

If Ms. Wolozin is really digging her knuckles into the sore muscles of her clients without benefit of a state-issued piece of paper, and if authorities choose to make an issue of the matter, she may lose her right to vote (at least temporarily), to own firearms, to hold a liquor license (you need government permission to sell booze, too) and face other restrictions.
Who'da thunk there's be an RKBA tie-in with Heath Ledger?

Kinda reconfirms how trying to do the right thing is used against us by the overlords, doesn't it?

Ignorance Personified

Why are there no charges concerning the weapon? Answer: The gun was probably in the residence legally...Because the federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004, if you can pass a background check, you can legally own such automatic guns...

We don't need to get into the cliche debate of general gun control, but I hope few would argue the need for automatic assault weapons within city limits.

Yes, the Constitution protects the right to bear arms, but we know that is not a license to hold exceptionally dangerous weapons such as bazookas, machine guns or assault weapons. As the federal government decreed in 1994, assault weapons just don't belong in our communities.

I urge the city council to further investigate this matter and consider, at least, passing a measure requiring all owners of assault weapons to be registered with the police department. I would personally advocate a ban of such guns within the city.

A Question About Homeland Security...

...for those who think maintaining our current foreign policy is necessary to defend the nation against Islamic terrorists:

What's the ONLY delivery system they have for deploying WMD against us here at home?

Basically, in order to get one--and the personnel over here to exploit it, they merely need to take advantage of our non-existent border and port security, and our criminally negligent immigration "controls".

That's the foreign policy you think will keep us safest? Really?

Kwa-me, How I Love Ya, How I Love Ya...

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his chief of staff lied about their relationship last summer at a police whistle-blower trial that has cost the cash-strapped city more than $9 million, according to records obtained by the Free Press.

The false testimony potentially exposes them to felony perjury charges, legal experts say.
What...you mean Mayor Against Guns Kwame might be a felon for citizen disarmament?

Let's look in on the misunderstood young lovers:
Beatty: "And, did you miss me, sexually?"

Kilpatrick: "Hell yeah!
You couldn't tell. I want some more. "
Not family man Kwame...!!!

Mayor Kilpatrick and his wife Carlita have three sons: 12-year-old twins, Jelani and Jalil, and 6-year-old Jonas.
And not Capable Christine...!!!

As chief of staff, Christine Beatty has built a solid “can-do” reputation.
I'll bet!

But Kwame, ever the gentleman and respecter of "strong women" asks that "the media respect the privacy of my wife and children and of Christine Beatty and her children at this deeply painful moment for our families."

Yeah, I guess that is private, except:

Because they were sued in their roles as city officials, Kilpatrick and Beatty did not personally have to pay the costs from the $9-million legal fight.

That and the part about lying under oath.

Take a good look at the creatures who would control you and me, but will not control themselves.

"It's the Economy, Stupid!"

Stop what you're doing right now, click on the title link and watch the whole thing--it takes a little under 9 minutes.

Does anyone really think national security will be served if we don't have the money to finance the military--or anything else?

As Pat Buchanan noted recently:
We are thus in the position of having to borrow from Europe to defend Europe, of having to borrow from China and Japan to defend Chinese and Japanese access to Gulf oil, and of having to borrow from Arab emirs, sultans and monarchs to make Iraq safe for democracy.

We borrow from the nations we defend so that we may continue to defend them. To question this is an unpardonable heresy called "isolationism."
I've been called a single-issue voter, and freely admit the right to keep and bear arms is for obvious reasons the cornerstone, but it truly is all about freedom.

With what we've got facing us, anybody who doesn't put everything they've got into backing the only candidate who won't continue steering the economy over the precipice, and the only candidate who won't attack gun ownership, needs to reexamine the fundamentals.

A New Word for "Three"

But the spate of shootings begs the question: Did the castle law – which gives people the right to use whatever means necessary to protect themselves and their property without fear of civil liability – unleash a flurry of gunfire? [More]

Principles in Politics Matter

Even though I've left California, I've stayed on State Senator Tom McClintock's mailing list. I backed him in his run for governor and tried to warn people about Schwarzenegger, but, as with the current Ron Paul bid, the compromisers and "pragmatists" sided with the establishment, not only earning themselves the .50 ban, the lead ammo ban, microstamping--but providing a template for antis across the nation to use against the rest of us.

In his latest email, Sen. McClintock lists some bills he is supporting and opposing, along with why, and one he is neutral on, Prop. 93, Term Limits. As he explains:

Since I’ve only served eight years in the Senate, Prop. 93 would give me one final term; if it fails I must retire this year. Because I have a conflict of interest, I’m staying out if it.
Power does not corrupt if one places principles before it. Character counts. It counts.

But continue making excuses for following proven frauds--monsters, really, who have made no bones about trampling your rights into the ground, making you a criminal if you defy their edicts and destroying you if you don't comply.

Hey, maybe McCain will pick Fred as his runing mate...I guess there's no amount of excuse-making people won't tender. (And incidentally, McClintock endorsed Thompson, so I don't agree with him on everything, just as I don't agree with Paul on everything.)

Besides, "Ron Paul can't win." We've told ourselves so, and we're bound and determined to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's a lot easier than rolling up our sleeves and trying. Thank God that attitude of pre-ordained defeatism didn't stop the men who won us our freedom by putting their very lives on the line to secure it for themselves and their posterity. Against all odds--conventional wisdom said they couldn't win, either.

We can either honor them by maintaining that spirit, and realizing yeah, there actually is a price to pay, or we can posture ourselves as leaders and warn how if Hillary wins, we'll lose our gun rights!!!

Some of us won't, at least not that easily. And I'm sure there'll be no shortage of forum warriors to assure each other how such extremists make them all look bad.

Bedtime for Bono

U2 lead singer and activist Bono visited the Pentagon to discuss Africa and the fight against global poverty with U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, representatives of the two men said on Wednesday.

Among the topics at the 20-minute meeting on Tuesday afternoon were U.S. plans to set up a new U.S. military command for Africa, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said.
OK, all you gun owners who claim the best course for our national security is to stay the course with foreign military interventions. Do you mind telling me what the hell business this globalist jet-setting environmentalist tax cheat (who expects others to fund his social engineering while he shelters his assets in foreign banks) has getting the undivided attention of the SECDEF, and why you think edging closer to George Clooney's war will better secure national interests than Washington and Jefferson's warning against "foreign entanglements"?

We're the Only Ones Clipping Your Wings Enough

A passenger who went through an airport security checkpoint -- before remembering that he had a loaded gun -- is facing charges after going back to report his error, authorities said.

Yeah, that's because he proved to them what a big threat he was. Plus, it's not like he's somebody important, like mayor Frank Melton or state senator Juan Hinojosa, or district court judge Sylvia James or anybody...

Note to everyone: "The Only One" functionaries are not your friends. And based on results, they're not much in the way of protectors, either.

He should have walked back out and did whatever he needed to to secure the gun, even if it meant missing his plane. It sure would have been a lot cheaper than what he's facing now.

...in 1776, Colonel Henry Knox reached the headquarters of the Continental Army in Cambridge. The young Boston bookseller had pulled off a daring plan. He had led a small group of men on a 300-mile journey from Boston to Fort Ticonderoga in New York State. Once there, the party disassembled cannon taken when the British surrendered the fort and retreated to Canada in May 1775. In less than two months time, Knox and his men moved 60 tons of artillery across lakes and rivers, through ice and snow to Boston. On March 7th, 2,000 Continental soldiers maneuvered the guns to a hill overlooking the city. The British had no choice but to evacuate Boston.

The Hallowed Halls of Learning

Rather than being the bastions of tolerance and diversity they portray themselves as, our institutions of higher learning have proven themselves rigidly anti-defense to the point of hysteria.
Nothing WarOnGuns regulars don't know...

"The Hallowed Halls of Learning," my Rights Watch column for the March 2008 issue of GUNS Magazine, is now online.

They're Awake

Is anybody still awake at the White House?

Here's another opinion piece that's, on the whole, pretty good, but I believe still misses a point.

I just don't see this as a "blunder."

I see it as a deliberate and premeditated act of sabotage.

Hard to Believe

Is it really that hard to believe that the Administration would lurch to the left on the issue of guns?
Good article on the whole.

I'm to the point where there's not much anyone could tell me about the "Vote Freedom First President" that I'd find hard to believe.

Everyone looking for some kind of genius glass-half-full strategy in this is either an apparatchik or whistling past the graveyard.

A Question for the Pragmatists

Now that Fred has bowed out, some gun owners are predictably scrambling to the Mitt and McCain camps.

Noting that the "Vote Freedom First President" narrowly won both elections only with the strong support of gun owners, does anyone think either of the Republican front runners can pull it off without that strong support?

And Then There Were Five...

Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson quit the Republican presidential race on Tuesday, after a string of poor finishes in early primary and caucus states.
OK, gun owners for Fred.

Now what?

Hmmm...??

About Last Night...

Anybody catch the pander-fest?

First of all, can you imagine if someone proposed a Congressional White Caucus?

The way all three of these creatures tried to out-self-abase each other was nothing short of disgusting, not to mention frightening. Nothing like stoking the fires of resentment, hostility and entitlement to further divide the Republic...I mean, democracy.

Barack making repeated references to Edwards being a white man, and telling us he hasn't seen Bill Clinton dance so he can't say if he's a brother, made me wonder exactly why Jimmy the Greek's career was ruined.

I find it more than curious how not only the left, but especially the false right, is trying to paint Ron Paul as a racist, with this blatant hypocrisy shoved right in everybody's faces by CNN, with none of the usual suspects saying a word.

Forgive me if I just don't get it. I come from the school that says if you treat me like a human being, I'll treat you like a human being.

Everything else is just ignorance, propagated by those who don't know any better, or in the case of some who stand to gain power, those who do, and are counting on the fallout.

We're the Only Ones Automatically Recovered Enough

Wayne police have found a rapid-fire submachine gun that had been missing for at least two weeks.

But they won't say exactly where the nine-millimeter weapon turned up on Monday.
Oh, gee, I wonder why.

We might ask the "Authorized Journalists" why they didn't press on this point, or what New Jersey "Only Ones" intend to do with such weapons--particularly when, based on results we can see the lax control they employ in their keeping. But I'm actually more interested in finding out where one can get a magazine for an MP5 that's between around 22 and 27 feet long to accommodate being able to "shoot 700 to 900 rounds per minute."

We're the Only Ones Informative Enough

A man suspected of smuggling a gun into prison for Billy Wright's killer was a Special Branch agent, the inquiry into the LVF leader's murder has revealed.
Yes, when "gun murders" take place in UK prisons, you know all those citizen disarmament laws are working the way they're intended. And if you read the whole article, you'll see this was the second incident of smuggling one inside.

"Only Ones" rule.

And how convenient--the suspect informant is dead. No doubt he lived a high risk lifestyle, but for some reason that line from Pirates of the Caribbean comes to mind, especially after trying to navigate through this convoluted tale...

My Kind of Protest

About 100 supporters of the measure lay on the Capitol lawn to honor the victims of gun violence, as about 200 opponents stood nearby, holding signs that read, "Here Lie Disarmed Victims."
Any time the antis want to stage an event where we get two times the representation is fine in my book.

Don't you just love the absolute separation from reality by Colin Goddard? He experienced utter helplessness, useless to himself and all others, and saw first-hand what placing "full trust" in the police got him. What kind of "man" would actually prefer to be a pathetic victim?

I just can't muster any sympathy for volunteers.

It looks like Nebraska lawmakers are out there proposing to break federal law.

In Haynes v US, the court ruled "...A proper claim of the privilege against self-incrimination provides a full defense to prosecutions either for failure to register under sec. 5841 or for possession of an unregistered firearm under sec. 5851..."

Tell me refusal to obey a requirement to report a lost or stolen firearm by a prohibited person wouldn't be viewed as "a proper claim."

They try to get around that with this:

Note it only guarantees amnesty against registration violations, not violations of possession. And it fails to note that the state of Nebraska is utterly without legal authority to guarantee a pass for federal violations.

There are plenty of other traps and crap in this abomination, but this is the one most often overlooked.

This is nothing more than another way to screw with the "law abiding," and will not result in one less violent act by the free agent predators the official ones rely on to create demand for their "services."
