Lessons from Memsahib Brady Nirvana

Only a small group of determined monsters created the carnage...
And perhaps the most troubling question to emerge for the Indian authorities was how, if official estimates are accurate, just 10 gunmen could have caused so much carnage and repelled Indian security forces for more than three days in three different buildings.
...by exploiting a disarmed victim pool...
The Oberoi Group employs many plainclothes security officers in its hotels, but these are unarmed, Oberoi said. Obtaining a license for even a single officer to carry a gun is extremely difficult in India, which has tight gun control laws.

Yet even security guards armed with handguns might hesitate to resist an assault by heavily armed terrorists who have a detailed knowledge of the hotel's layout, as was the case at the Oberoi and Taj.
So much for relying on the "Only Ones."
Pros deride terrible tactics and poor equipment in face of Mumbai crisis
Fortunately, the elites and well-connected were taken care of:
"Last night, as the events of the terror attack unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do. Before retiring for the night, I pulled out my licensed .32 revolver, loaded it and put it under my pillow. For a very disturbed sleep," the megastar wrote on his blog.
This is a nearly laboratory-perfect example of "gun control" in practice. The lesson is just this clear, just this direct: Disarming people renders them defenseless. Predators don't obey disarmament edicts. Authorities can't prevent atrocities, only respond to them.

That's no surprise to those of us who have been screaming this into the wind for years. Whether the dawning of realization will stick with the "Authorized Journalists," who's voices drown out ours, remains to be seen. I doubt it, but if anything will illustrate their intellectual disconnect, this will:
Mumbai photographer: I wish I'd had a gun, not a camera. Armed police would not fire back
That's odd--the latest Brady News Release is silent on the whole affair, focusing instead on doing what they do best--recycling and magnifying old lies to further erode the foundations of Liberty.

In light of stark reality, don't they look ridiculous and contemptible?

Cape Ann is a very open Harbour and accessible to large Ships, which made me immediately send off, Col: Glover and Mr. Palfrey, with orders to raise the Minute Men and Militia of that part of the Country, to have the Cargo landed without Loss of Time and guarded up to this Camp; this I hope they will be able to effect, before it is known to the Enemy what port she is carried into...

I Guess Their Long Weekend...

...is more important than squarely addressing the controversy of their creation, because there are no announcements on the H-S Precision website. It makes me wonder about the reliability of reports I've read that say someone high up in the company is friends with Lon Horiuchi.

Regardless, this conscious decision to avoid rather than address is just getting people madder. I'm seeing the next phase unfolding as industry partners and distributors are getting dragged in. If H-S management thinks they can just hide and everything will blow over, I'm starting to see how they could have been oblivious enough to print the testimonial in the first place.

Along with anger, ridicule is setting in. There's even a contest where you can win a $25 Midway USA gift certificate. (Oh, good: You can use it to get a discount on H-S Precision products!)

I don't enter contests. If I did, my submission would be something stupid and offensive, like the graphic on the right.

From what I've seen so far, I'd vote for this guy's entry. That "Dylan" quote made me laugh out loud.

The Obvious Question

“I think the obvious question everyone has is who takes loaded weapons into a Toys R Us?” Ferguson said. “I doubt it was the casual holiday shopper.
Almost, Fergie, old bean. You came up with the obvious answer. Your question needs work.

Because in a county of over 2 million residents, only 734 CCW permits were issued in 2007.

Go ahead and see if you can figure out from this how to get one.

Assuming you're not an assistant city manager.

So: Care to take a stab at coming up with the obvious question again?

We're the Only Ones Taking Care of Ourselves Enough

Somali pirates hijacked a chemical tanker with dozens of Indian crew members Friday and a helicopter rescued three British security guards who had jumped into the sea, officials said.
See, that's the answer to the age-old question "Who will guard the guards?"

If this doesn't put the lie to trusting your security and safety to a professional class of "Only Ones," nothing will. Because remember--by doing it for a living, they're demonstrating right there they're in it for Number One.

There is a silver lining to that, for those who can recognize it as one...

We're the Only Ones Teaching Our Children Well Enough

Monroe police say Chief Greg Schwarber accidentally shot himself in the leg at his home on Todhunter Road Friday afternoon.

The Chief said he was teaching his daughter about gun safety and shooting technique...

Because, you know, he's the "Only One" instructive enou...ah, just forget it.

At least they didn't say the gun "went off."

DEAR DR. BROTHERS: I always told my husband he should get a hobby, but I never thought he'd take my advice. Now I regret ever opening my mouth. Ever since he bought his first gun, he's been like a different person...He's now buying more guns, and it's getting kind of creepy. What can I do? -- D.F.

I'm always surprised to find gun owners treading lightly around the women in their lives. I don't have any solutions once the bed has been made.

My only advice would be to ensure compatibility on the important things before committing yourself. And especially before bringing children into the equation.

One of the early dates ought to be a trip to the range, as well as a candid discussion about guns and freedom.

OK, enough channeling my inner Ann Landers, unless I can start making money at it through gHarmony...

Inevitable

Gun restrictions are inevitable in today's violent climate
I'm not sure that I've ever read a more ignorant, stupid and poorly-written opinion piece. When you realize how many I've read, that's really saying something.

So why is it I think his conclusion is probably right?

To Defend the Homeland

Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Monday ordered his top department leaders to conduct a broad review to determine whether the military, National Guard and Reserve can adequately deal with domestic disasters and whether they have the training and equipment to defend the homeland.
Because God forbid what is necessary for the security of a free state be considered.

I've expressed concerns before over the military crossing the line into domestic operations. I've been accused of being paranoid about this.

Perhaps. I don't feel paranoid, but then, do crazy people know they're nuts?

The alternative may be those who aren't concerned are overly trusting. I won't presume to break things down further into why that may be.

Own an M1A/M14SA?

I don't typically "do" hardware here, but a longtime reader and correspondent, whose judgment I trust, thought some of you would benefit from this. And no, he doesn't stand to make a dime off this:
On sale at US Armorment Precision Shooting Supply .... Lake City M118LR (7.62 NATO).

This ammunition is typically very hard to find because of wartime demands. I know I have been looking for it since about June and have been unable to find it at a reasonable price. People that snatch it up early usually try to resell at incredibly inflated prices (can you blame them for trying to make a buck???). People that need it usually hang on to it and use it sparingly for practice. It seems to only come around a couple of times a year.

Yes ... there's plenty of commercial ammo out there that will work just fine. However, some people that have invested a little extra cash to get an utterly dependable rifle built for them (forged, premium steel parts, proper headspacing, matched bolt/chamber, etc) will also have a rifle that is specifically chambered for this round. I am talking about the M1A or M14 family of rifles built by the likes of Fulton Armory, Smith Enterprise, LRB Arms ... to name a few. Incidentally, these are some of the same type of rifles that Gabe Suarez recommends for the "partisan fighter" or "guerilla sniper" in his politically incorrect book, Guerilla Sniper.

Here's a sample of current auctions/sales online so you can see the current asking prices ....
Item three (note the "buy now" price)

Anyway, I wanted to share this information in case any of your readers were interested and happened to own a rifle that was specifically designed/built around this round. People will post and say that this round is overrated or that any quality commercial ammo is better (i.e. Black Hills, Federal GMM, etc.) which could be true in some cases. Those that own the rifles though might appreciate the tip.

We're the Only Ones Licked Enough

Two Iraq war veterans allege in a federal lawsuit they were forced by small-town Wisconsin police officers to lap up what was thought to be urine.
I'm sorry, but they would have to kill me first. Really.

Why the vets didn't refuse is a question I have. And then I read the young animals are respectively 19 and 20? I guess that's a prime age for feral gangbangers. Who better to exalt to the status of "Only One"?

Perhaps the vets from the "Battle of Athens" were of a generation still in touch with rights that are no longer taught. But what disturbs me the most about this is the "follow any order" mentality manifested here.

If you can order a soldier to lick a puddle of urine, what order won't he obey?

I see Wisconsin Dells, where this happened, is a big tourist destination. I think it would be in order to let them know we just wouldn't feel safe putting ourselves at the mercy of their hired sociopaths, so until they use their influence to put a conclusive end to such abuses, we have plenty of other choices. You can write them at info@wisdells.com. You can also tell their Chamber of Commerce.

And I guess as long as we're sending out correspondence, it wouldn't hurt to let their police department know how such abuse deserves to be treated by citizens who do know their rights and are committed to defending them against domestic enemies:

Night of the Evil Butterball

Attacks by roving flocks of wild turkeys are on the increase around suburban Boston--AP

Time was, the turkey was considered a game bird. The Pilgrims at Plymouth feasted on them. Generations later, Ben Franklin considered it such a useful fowl that he nominated it for the national bird.

Of course, this was in the days when the right to bear arms was taken for granted, when free people hunted turkeys for sustenance, all the while honing marksmanship that would serve them well in time of need.

Flash forward to present-day Boston, a place of sacred tradition, the literal forge for our heritage of individual liberty. Except Boston is now a place where traditions have been betrayed. Its current overlords have succeeded in disarming the whole people in a way that General Gage could never have conceived possible.

So successful have these rulers been that the city that gave us Sam Adams and Paul Revere is now a city under siege, and this is fittingly ironic if you think about it, by wild turkeys. So helpless and hapless are Boston's modern-day patriots, they can do little except retreat from the aggressive gobblers, escape, hole up and plead for rescue from the very authorities that enforce public impotence.

This is what the heirs of The Sons of Liberty have been reduced to. This is what they have allowed, and in many cases, demanded. Human beings, with dominion over the earth, scurrying from turkeys. The tolerated degradation of the masses is damned near complete.

This does not escape the notice of those who impose their tyranny upon us. What new outrage are they now free to impose? What can't they do? After all, we're talking about subjects who would cede their birthright to birds.

The greasy-lipped masters have to be laughing like hell as they reach across their table of plunder and rip off another drumstick...

A Personal Perspective on H-S Precision and Horiuchi

The unfolding H-S Precision/Lon Horiuchi fiasco literally made my jaw drop, probably because I was one of the few voices many years ago covering an angle of the Horiuchi prosecution that the mainstream press couldn't be bothered to notice.

I'd been involved even earlier in writing the Boundary County prosecutor to get the killer criminally tried. When a federal court gave the green light for doing just that, I speculated on whether or not the locals would take over.

Then came news the prosecutor was being investigated on felony forgery charges. My reaction:
It shows the prosecutor definitely vulnerable to being compromised...
The story, and my assessment, were then picked up by WorldNetDaily. And then, predictably, charges were dropped.

This link goes to an archived copy (KABA, you should not have gone in and erased a lot of stuff when new management took over the site--there is an historical record that deserves to be preserved)) of the prosecutor's rationale to do so, as well as the bitter responses of myself and colleagues Angel Shamaya and Russ Howard.

My own hypothesis, and I emphasize I can't prove it, is that pressure from on high was brought to bear. If I had a drink and a cigar, and was with people I knew around a campfire, I'd be speculating on blackmail/extortion.

Justice has not been done. And I'm still extremely bitter. Which is the reason I've purposely kept my emotions in check--so far. I just don't see how the owners of H-S Precision could be so damned...I don't even have a word for it.

I feel badly for employees who have their livelihoods invested there, because I can predict the potential fury of the storm we're just getting the first gusts from. Perhaps when it's over we can discuss ways the gun industry can attune itself with the activist community. That they don't already have someone assigned to monitor sentiment and feed that to their public face people just astounds me.

H-S Precision and Horiuchi Confirmed

I just got off the phone with one of their employees about the report that they printed a Lon Horiuchi endorsement on the back of their catalog.

It is true.

We chatted for about 5 minutes, about the background, about the intent, about the ramifications, and about what's next. I scribbled notes as quickly as I could, but decided to hold back and await an official company statement.

I'm sending a link to this and to last night's post to my contact there, so I'm sure their management will see your comments.

Naturally, I'll follow this story as it develops.

We're the Only Ones Who Can Use That Word Enough

The co-chairman of the state legislature's judiciary committee wants a full review of allegations that a judge charged with drunken driving last month angrily hurled epithets at police officers during her arrest, called a black state police sergeant nigger and told officers she was a state judge.
See, if an entitled "Only One" of color* uses it, "the community" stays low-key. I can imagine a situation where a different judge doing the same thing would prompt a special media op for Al and Jesse, along with incensed crowds demanding the career, if not the head of the offender. Instead, the media is pretty quiet on this one.

What I actually find more offensive is the presumption that because she's a judge, she deserves some special consideration. That she's also a racist moron just confirms she is the type of person who thinks her position in government exalts her over the rest of us.

[Via Ron W]

* Just out of curiosity: Why is "person of color" acceptable but "colored person" is deemed offensive? I suspect it's the same reason race fluffers are hailed as civil rights champions, and gun owners are portrayed as racists--that is, it serves an agenda.

This Day in History: November 26

They assembled, and chose me to lead them...

H-S Precision and Horiuchi?

What is being represented as the back of the H-S Precision catalog is circulating on the Internet. The reason this is controversial is because it represents notorious FBI sniper killer Lon Horiuchi endorsing the company. This is then represented by various posters as H-S "hiring" Horiuchi.

Here's the thing--I ain't sayin' it ain't, but has anyone verified this information?

It's pretty easy to PhotoShop a cover, and the thing is, I see everyone in comments on various gun boards diving into Zumbo/Cooper boycott mode, and no voices calling for fact check before action.

A company's reputation and peoples' livelihoods are at stake here, including those in the supply chain. If it can be verified the cover is legitimate, there will be a resulting and deserved grassfire. If it is determined somebody's yanking our chains for reasons unknown, I do hope everybody piling on will be as quick and enthusiastic about correcting the record.

I'm holding off on judgment until I can verify this one myself. Anyone with actual knowledge on this, please educate the rest of us.

An F&S Hero?

Other heroes included...Charles Schumer...
I need to reserve judgment and go and look at the mag in question before jumping to any conclusions on this, because I can't believe Field and Stream would print something like this and not mean it to be tongue-in-cheek, especially with the highly-publicized Zumbo/Cooper fiascos of recent memory...

Of course, I couldn't believe their editor throwing semiautos under the bus, either...

Compulsory? For Who???

The selection of Rahm Emanuel, the Illinois congressman and Democratic apparatchik, as President-Elect Barack Obama's chief of staff, has raised a few eyebrows -- at least partially because of Emanuel's advocacy of a civilian draft. That plan for "universal civilian service" would press Americans aged 18 to 25 into government service for a minimum of three months...

So much for a woman--or man--being able to choose what they do with their body, and it being none of the government's business. Well, that's not quite fair--they can choose from the mandatory options provided.

And who could conscientiously object to lightworki...uh...community organizing?

Y'know, I've never really been all that impressed with George Will...he started out anti, then evolved to "unpersuaded," and now he's just squishy, and procedure, rather than principle-driven.

"Panic?" Maybe, at the "Next Level"
I was moved to write about panic, because that is what the current crowd of folks jamming into gun stores and gun shows in the wake of Obama's election are being called by their supposed friends and certain enemies alike. They are said to be engaged in "panic buying."

All Eyes on Georgia

The Democrats currently control 58 seats in the Senate. If they get to 60 (the number needed to overcome a filibuster), it will be nearly impossible to stop the gun control agenda of incoming President Barack Obama.
Then things'll get really interesting.

As a side note, am I missing something, or is there no way to link to individual articles on GOA's PVF site?

A Pasco County man is facing charges after trying to run into his burning home to save his pets.
Yep--sounds like just the type you want to lay a felony rap on and forever strip of his right to keep and bear arms. And he did all that resisting "without violence."

So how'd his face get all marked up?

At least we know our lives are not ours, because if they were, they'd be ours to risk.

Exercised to the Limit

Government, as we must never forget, is force. And as Simone Weil so memorably observed, force is that mysterious influence "that turns anybody who is subjected to it into a thing. Exercised to the limit, it turns man into a thing in the most literal sense: it makes a corpse out of him."
William Norman Grigg tells us some stories that will make your blood boil.

I wouldn't want to be one of the mini-tyrants he describes when a victim finally snaps. I wouldn't even want to be associated with them.

More than Expected

Leave it to the collectivists, literally in this case, to put a spin of not just success, but huge success, on a program that suffered a 20% drop in volume from last year and doesn't look like it can sustain itself as an annual event.

A Solution to Too Much Paperwork

Gun enthusiasts said it would deter crime. Gun-control advocates said the measure would increase it, spawning needless deaths.

But Minnesota's permit-to-carry handgun law appears to have done neither, according to an analysis of state crime statistics. Instead, it has accomplished something else entirely in the five years since it was enacted: It's kept clerks at sheriffs' offices hopping busy with paperwork.
So we can stop with the forms and fees and dispense with this permission nonsense, right?

Now that it's been proven (yet once again) the Dodge City scenario is a lie, we know peaceable armed citizens don't need supervising. And those who aren't peaceable don't get permits anyway.

As for crime not being deterred, I don't see where the data sets they're citing would show that one way or another. But here's what we do know: we don't need to demonstrate how many fires are deterred by equipping buildings with extinguishers and sprinkler systems to know that they'll be in a better position to remain standing should one break out.

It's Good to be the Prince

Prince Andrew spent four days in Tunisia with his friend Tarek Kaituni, who has a gun-smuggling conviction, a spokeswoman for the British royal confirms.
Eh. What do we expect?

His older brother is big on Algoreism, while his royal nephew took one RAF helicopter to visit the Royal Squeeze and another to go to a stag party.

Every time I hear Charles open his krovvy rot, I'm reminded of what Thomas Paine knew a couple hundred years back, and what anyone who worships "royalty" is too incompetent at self-determination to grasp:
[T]he idea of hereditary legislators is as inconsistent as that of hereditary judges, or hereditary juries; and as absurd as an hereditary mathematician, or an hereditary wise man; and as ridiculous as an hereditary poet laureate.
Besides, why settle for mere kings when you can use good old American know-how and vote yourself a Lightworker?

I Wholeheartedly Agree

I am proud that we have one of the few police services around the world that do not regularly carry firearms and I want to keep it that way.

How Many Blogs Does the World Need?

Those ancient debates about whether the Internet lowers journalistic standards and drags the Mainstream Media into the slime have become irrelevant. For a large chunk of the electorate--the young chunk--the Internet has become the major source of information.
Obviously, it's not a question of need, but one might ask the same thing about "Authorized Journalists," particularly when the first blog leftist Time cites in its Top 25 is the fascist HuffPo.

Eric Holder willing, we'll continue occupying our little corner to bring to light what you won't see in the public/private partnership media. And Eric Holder not willing, I suspect we'll be getting...uh...creative at "guerilla marketing" by then...

The Sound and the Fury

The palm-sized device designed by Qinetiq, the British defence firm that was once the government research laboratories, is pinned to the uniform and uses acoustic technology to calculate the exact position of the rifle fire.

Then a electronic voice passes on the "bearing and range" to the soldier allowing him to jump to safety and return fire...

Although the range and accuracy of the device is kept secret for operational reasons Mr Steinman said they were well beyond the capabilities of a sniper.
So I guess that means it'll be withheld from We the People, the Constitutional citizen militia...?

"Aligning our expertise with government needs..."

Yep. Sure looks that way.

A Word About Fudds

I note some of the gun blogs have picked up on a complaint from the ol' Fuddmaster himself, Bill Schneider, and caution us that use of the term is not productive because it divides gun owners.

I find it curious that the objection is not to his continued use of the term "Gun Nuts." Talk about something that makes us all look bad.

Shneider has no credibility with me--foremost because he has been given incontrovertible proof on the subversive nature of AHSA, yet he continues to portray them as a legitimate alternative for gun owners to support.

Then there's his hysterical judgmentalism over the entirely self-inflicted Cooper fiasco:
Gun Lobby Attack Dogs Strike Again
What kind of people suffer no remorse when intentionally destroying one of their own, his company and his employees to make their point?
There was no organized lobbying effort, and he knows this. There was no First Amendment suppression here, and he knows this.

This was purely an exercise in fed up gun owners deciding who they wish to freely associate with. That's "what kind of people." And notice he called us "dogs."

Note also what he said about Obama:
While in Butte, America, for the Fourth of July, Barack Obama told the press, “There is not a sportsman or hunter who is in legal possession of firearms who has anything to fear from me.”

I happen to believe him. I hope most other hunters do, too, because we can make the difference on November 4.
Now I want to clarify something about the term "Fudd." It is not used by hard-liners like myself to insult anyone who participates in shooting sports or hunting or prefers shotguns over EBRs.

It is used as a reaction to "sporting use"-ONLY gun owners who throw the rest of us under the bus in the belief that their hobby will be protected, that they won't be eaten next.

Seems to me these Fudds deserve a little name-calling. There's nothing to divide--they're not on my side. They're either stupid, detached freeloaders who enjoy the protections of activism while not lifting a finger to help, conscious sell-outs, or outright enemies.

But don't worry, I'm not going to call any AHSAhole who falls in the latter category a "Fudd." In recognition of their special treachery, these wormtongued subversives deserve their own term:

Mudderfudders.

Safety Trumped Pleasure

John Dyke never thought he'd be parting with the two guns he uses for target practice. But safety trumped pleasure, so he turned in his weapons to the Broward Sheriff's Office during their buy-back program...
Quite simply put, John, I do not believe you. I don't believe you're really that stupid. And if you're not someone with an agenda, I almost pity you.

Almost.

And yeah, Lt. David Holmes--I'm sure those are all "illegal guns" you're getting "off the street." I'm sure "the entire community" is now at considerably less "risk."

And leave it to the "Authorized Journalists" at CBS 4 to add their editorial bias and gin up the hysteria.

Enough to fill an entire table!

That's it? That's news?

I guess it does let them get their intended message across:
40 weapons have been collected. That's 40 fewer chances for a tragedy to strike.
That it's also 40 fewer chances for a citizen to protect themselves isn't even given mention. What a preposterous idea!

After all, only the "Only Ones" are qualified to possess guns, particularly lying anti-gun "Only Ones" from the Broward County Sheriff's Department.

Lying anti-gun "Only Ones" from the Broward County Sheriff's department who spent time in the federal pen, that is...parasites who are still trying to find a way to reattach to the body of their host.

Yeah, these guys are just plain better than you and me.

And certainly better than John Dyke.

Salvation Through Disarmament

The man said he bought the gun after discovering that his wife was leaving him for another man. He planned to shoot his wife and her boyfriend, and then turn the gun on himself, Travis said. The man then asked his pastor to turn the gun over to police for him, Travis said.
In other words, it was an illegal transfer? What with all this church/state separation, a pastor trumps California law?

Did you even establish that the "confessing" cuckold was, in fact, a "gun owner" as defined by law? It is Bell Gardens, you know. I merely ask, because he is what is presented to us as a typical "gun owner"--miserable, lost, unstable, challenged in his manhood, dangerous...

But Hallelujah! I've given up my gun and now I'm saved!

The message here, of course, happily brought to us by anti-gun "Authorized Journalists," is that the only way to save yourself is to be defenseless. The "Only Ones" competent to keep and bear arms are highly trained professionals like Lt. Jeff Travis, who push the idea that this nonsense will have an impact on "gang-related crime."

Jeff knows it won't, of course. But he did get his name in the paper, and you just know his actions please the masters.

He's actually pretty smart, in an insidious, manipulative kind of way. I predict that boy will make captain!

Greg Nickels--What a Piece of...Work

State law allows private property owners to prohibit the presence of firearms on their property.
But public plunder isn't private property, is it, you miserable con artist?

Since the state is going to do nothing to stop this criminal, I'd suggest a citizens' arrest--that is, if you could get past his taxpayer-funded armed bodyguards...

"Reasonable restrictions." Where have we heard that before?

Answer the Question

Ready? This is the question: Mr. Helmke, if what this is really all about is "safe streets" and "public safety" how does sparking a bloody civil war further those objectives? The answer is, it doesn't. It can't.

We are told to expect the final tallies from the counties still outstanding to be announced by early next week, and I expect to be making a formal statement then. For now, I think we can safely say that the fat lady is singing – and she’s singing our song.
Uh-oh. I think Tom McClintock just alienated the Rosie O'Donnell vote.

We're the Only Ones High-Power Enough

Nearly 100 teens marched outside Chicago police headquarters Thursday night to protest the department's plans to equip officers with semi-automatic rifles, saying the weapons could make the streets more dangerous.

Carrying signs like "Stop the War on Youth," teens said they didn't trust police with the high-powered weapons and worried gangs would be encouraged to bolster their own arsenals.
Arthur McGraw certainly sounds like a boy genius, doesn't he(?), although I agree with him on one point--I don't trust them either. And why does his "Southwest Youth Collaborative" remind me of the Young Communist League, right down to their Lightworkeresque "community organizing"?

I wonder where fellow travelers Jesse and Snuffy were? Well, at least they're leaving John R-i-g-g-i-o alone and going after not just "Only Ones," but Chicago "Only Ones" (who, I confess, I wouldn't mind seeing reduced to billy clubs as an experiment--just to see if there was any behavior modification).

An Appropriate Response

And while I'm glad the standoff ended peacefully with an appropriate response, and that responding officers showed such restraint, tell me they would have held themselves back once in position around one of our houses. Tell me the flash bangs and the gas grenades wouldn't have been used to flush us out, and that positioned snipers wouldn't have taken us out should we so much as twitch while stumbling blindly and retching our way to air.

David is so negative all the time...

Please don't malign ALL of the people in the Military and police forces...
Huh. Sorry if I give those impressions.

For the record: I am happy. I laugh every day with my kids. Hugs, kisses and "I love you's" are daily occurrences in my family. My favorite word is "puppies."

And as for the "maligning" charge, allow me to repeat something I've reminded WoG readers of several times--perhaps I need to put this in the sidebar:
The purpose of "The Only Ones" has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only the police are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it's also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly when they're involved in gun-related incidents.

e-Cacaphony

I wonder if these folks will be the next target?
