Treason in Glendale

I just got an urgent plea forwarded to me about tonight's City Council meeting in Glendale, CA, where an ordinance will be introduced for "Prohibiting the Possession or Sale of Firearms & Ammunition on City Property" (see Item 8, pg. 2).

Without further information, I can only speculate that some evil stooge in City government has decided to sabotage the Glendale Gun Show, held at the Glendale Civic Auditorium.

I know it's short notice, but if you're in the area, please go lend your voice against this naked and contemptuous attack on gun owners. My experience with Councils is that they can be cowed by a substantial number of pissed off constituents.

I see 3 Armenian names on the Council--perhaps a history lesson on the real-life consequences of disarmed peoples might be appropriate?

When: Tonight, Tues. Feb 28, 6:00 pm
Where: Glendale City Hall, Council Chambers, 613 E. Broadway, 2nd Floor Glendale, CA 91206

MMM Gallery IV (v2.0)

Here's one other I don't know how I missed, from Blognomicon--and it was from a couple weeks back (Alan--how come you didn't throw something at me to wake me from my negligent stupor?). I figured it should be a standalone post due to the nature of the subjects in v1.0, below.

This is really pretty funny, although I don't expect the fanatics at Control Arms to get the joke--or appreciate it if they did.

MMM Gallery IV (v1.0)

As I mentioned as an update to yesterday's Million Moon March Gallery, I totally overlooked a major contributor to this effort, Thus I Have Spoken.

His latest successes should give us all sober pause. We've had some fun with the Control Arms globalist gungrabbers, but SteamDragon brings us a reminder of the evil that results from forced government disarmament.

Please take a moment to reflect on the lives of:

Melissa

Shari

Rachel and children

Kathie, Chanel and Jennifer

If you don't know who these people are, a few moments over at SteamDragon's blog should make things clear.

MMM Gallery IV

If you don't yet know what the Million Moon March is about, click here and check out some of the links--you'll soon get the idea.

And now for the latest submissions to the Control Arms Campaign:

Cowboy Blob got the first acceptance of the week with a couple of tourists to "The Happiest Disarmed Place on Earth."

M-I-C: See you real soon!

K-E-Y: Why? Because they like him!

It really is a small world after all!

Free Constitution tells us Million Facers Mao, Vladimir and Hideki all have good reasons to respectively be safe from armed violence, invoke arms trade treaties, and provide no arms for atrocities. After all, why spoil a sweet deal with competition if you don't have to?

Be sure and let us know if they make the cut, OK, Stan?

Do you remember that old peace song from the 60's, "Abraham, Martin and John"? Well Captain of a Crew of One posted his own version of today's peace leaders over at the Million Faces campaign: Robert, Muhammad and Omar.

I understand Sailor Curt may have mixed up Muhammad's geography a bit, but hey, we're all gonna be one great big peaceful disarmed world anyway, right? Just one question for Dion about his 60's peace hit, though--how come you didn't sing anything about "my old friend Bobby" wiretapping "my old friend Martin"? And isn't working with Phil Spector a blast?

But I digress. Fortunately, The Mad Hatter (aka "Jeremy H") reins things back in with three (count 'em!) successful posts, and the wry observation that someone over at Control Arms just might be one toke over the line (I thought we might be on a 60's song kick for a second, but then noticed Brewer & Shipley didn't record this 'til '71...) Anyway, say "Hello" to my li'l friends, the "unpredictable" Hermann...uhhh...Manuel, the "neighborly" David (aka Dylan, and I don't mean folksinger Bob, and the "handy" Anderson, who just needed to tone down a bit on the emotions to gain acceptance.

Meanwhile, Oscar Poppa treats us to a plea from south of the border, where Vinnie shows he's crazy like a Fox by encouraging the loco gringos to disarm. Doesn't this picture just scream "Trust me"?

Speaking of trust, Ride Fast & Shoot Straight has earned it two more times from the Million Facers, who agree with Martin's demand to "Get tough on arms," as well as Vidkun's plea to "Make me safe from armed violence" (especially the firing squad kind, eh Viddie?)

Finally, we have correspondent Cliff Reed, who has been trying mightily to introduce Charley M to the list of Control Arms-approved Predators on Parade.

Keep trying, Cliff. Based on the gallery of thugs they've posted to date, they're probably just concerned that he's not bloody-handed enough to join such august company--at least without first being vetted by the admissions committee.

UPDATE:

I owe SteamDragon a BIG APOLOGY. He got a bunch of good pictures in, and in my haste yesterday, I overlooked posting them here.

SD--I'm sorry. I'll do an exclusive gallery on your successful posts tomorrow.

We're the Only Ones Dreamy Enough...

A constable of the State Reserve Police (SRP) sustained a bullet injury on his left arm when his service gun, which was kept on the bed, accidentally went off while he was sleeping on Sunday afternoon...the incident took place when Bhadoriya was sleeping in the camp and had kept his 303 rifle on the bed. "While, he tried to turn up in the bed the gun accidentally went off and injured him in the left arm."
Good grief.

The Blagojevich and Daley Show

Well, when it comes to gun laws, if there’s one thing we now know about Mayor Daley and Gov. Rod Blagojevich, it’s that they are for anything but common sense legislation.
And when it comes to Blagojevich on The Dailey Show, here's another example of Rod proving himself to be an out-of-touch cultural maroon.

[Thanks to HZ]

Sometimes, the Sword is Mightier Than the Pen...

"Journalists increasingly are being targeted in conflict largely because they have lost, in the eyes of certain elements, their status as neutral observers. If they bear arms they reinforce this misguided belief by placing themselves on one side or another," said the INSI director, Rodney Pinder.

"A journalist with a gun says 'some people in the situation I'm covering are my enemies and I am prepared to kill them if necessary'. That is not the position of a neutral civilian."

Pinder, of course, is the same genius who once observed "To be a killer of a journalist is a relatively safe operation." That he's out there making it even safer doesn't seem to sway him much.

I'm just glad our own domestic journalist, Geraldo Rivera, saw the wisdom of carrying a gun in Afghanistan and then came back and used his influence to advocate the same right to armed defense for the rest of us.

What? He just believes in himself being armed and still supports disarming the masses?

Never mind.

Don Knotts, RIP

As the bug-eyed deputy to Griffith, Knotts carried in his shirt pocket the one bullet he was allowed after shooting himself in the foot. The constant fumbling, a recurring sight gag, was typical of his self-deprecating humor.

G'night, Barney. Thanks for all those years of entertainment.

I think I'll go rent "No Time for Sergeants," where he so hilariously perfected that high-strung character.

The LA Times also has a real nice write-up on his life and career.

[Via Texican Tattler]

Hey Kids, Do You Know What Day It Is?

It's Second Amendment Saturday!

We're the Only Ones Retentive Enough

Constable Elizabeth Roth, 34, was on duty at Wetherill Park police station when the man, who was known to police, jumped the counter about 6.30am (AEDT) today and snatched her pistol.

The man turned the weapon on Constable Roth, who was working alone in the south-western Sydney station, shooting her once.
I have a great way to prevent this from ever happening again.

Develop "smart guns."

Then require everyone to have them except the police.

What?

They're already planning that?

Hoist By His Own Petard

Federal agents have revoked the firearms license of a prominent Baltimore County gun shop.

Valley Guns, of Parkville, is owned by Sanford Abrams, who is a National Rifle Association board member.

Hey, "enforce existing gun laws," right?

Taking Shots at America's Gun Culture

Still, he returned for the 2005 festival with his third film, Dear Wendy, in which he directed a von Trier screenplay about Americans and their firearms, starring Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) as a teenager who writes a love letter to his gun.

There's an old maxim, "write what you know."

See, that's the thing--this movie's not about "America's gun culture," one of the most peaceable and rational demographic subsets on the planet. It's about an imaginary misfit--and one dreamed up in the prejudiced, neurotic fantasies of a snotty Danish elitist, at that.

Here's something else I can't help notice--the Danes publish some Muhammad cartoons and the whole Islamic world goes apeshit. They release a film calculated to provoke and enrage gun owners, and we not only have to inform each other it exists via minor blogs--but I don't see us rioting and torching, issuing death warrants and killing people.

Most of us just won't go see the movie--not that it looks like it has mass appeal, anyway. If we react at all, it will be to remark on the foolishness of the filmmakers.

Is that your best "shot" guys?

Yawn.

I do have a few more questions for our artsy, disdainful detractors, though. How long did it take the Nazis to conquer and occupy Denmark? Why didn't the same thing happen to Switzerland? What effect do you think the absence or presence of a "gun culture" had on the different outcomes?

We're the Only Ones In Plain Enough View...

A car prowler got away Tuesday night with the badge and gun of a Clackamas County deputy.

The sheriff's office says the off-duty deputy parked outside a dance studio on Lake Drive in Milwaukie. She went inside on personal business, apparently leaving her purse, containing her badge, gun and other items, in plain view inside the car.
There must be something about that superior training the "only ones" receive that causes stuff like this to happen. In all my years of gun ownership, I'd have never thought to leave my stuff sitting in my unattended car for all the world to see. I guess that's the difference between us ordinary people and professionals...

MMM Gallery Continues to Build

Gallery IV continues to build.

Fodder has managed to post both Vidkun and Marty, Steamdragon has posted some family photos, Civis Proeliator helps a neighbor to the south, and Jeremy H enjoys "successes all around."

The plan is to post these and more to the new gallery on Million Moon March Monday.

UPDATE: In my haste, I forgot to add the Captain...

UPDATE UPDATE: I already added the Captain's new entries yesterday. Someone around here isn't getting enough sleep.

Getting Out the Vote--Uganda Style

President Yoweri Museveni's legal adviser was pictured on Friday armed with an automatic pistol during a fracas over voting in the northeast of the country...The independent Monitor newspaper said its photographer John Emojong was beaten by Odoi after he took the picture, and then arrested by police officers under the lawyer's command...Elsewhere in Tororo district, the Monitor said Museveni's legal assistant "fired bullets, assaulted people and hunted down suspected Kenyans, who turned out to be Ugandans".
What are we fighting to bring to the world?

Oh, yeah, democracy.

Doc Muzzles Nixed

Doctors can continue asking patients whether they own and safely store firearms.

The Senate Education and Health committee, known for defeating controversial bills, voted down legislation that would have made it unlawful to routinely ask patients about firearms.
I'm likely to start another debate like the one that's going on over here, but I fear a state with the power to tell a doctor what he can or can't ask a patient more than I fear a doctor asking me about guns.

There are plenty of private ways to deal with a medico sticking his nose where it doesn't belong--from firing him and getting a doctor who isn't a bleater, to presenting him with a little questionnaire that ought to knock him back a few steps...

New Predators on Parade at the Million Moon March

Captain of a Crew of One notes some new parade entrants...

Dan Zwonitzer Has a Big "But"

Rep. Dan Zwonitzer, R-Cheyenne, said he owns guns and enjoys shooting. However, he said Wyoming is among the top states in the country in terms of gun-related deaths by population and said the state doesn't need legislation to encourage more people to carry guns.

Zwonitzer quoted the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states in part that a "well-regulated militia" is necessary to the security of a free state. He said he wouldn't have a problem with the bill if it specified that members of the Wyoming National Guard have a right to carry weapons.

Zwonitzer was rated "?" by NRA in the 2004 election cycle:
Failed to answer NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire, often an indication of indifference, if not outright hostility, to gun owners’ and sportsmen’s rights.

Ignorant and arrogant. How typical of those who seek power over others. You folks in Wyoming can get a LOT better servant than this upstart, who seems to think it's his place to tell you what to do...

Shooter Had Homemade Gun

Police have charged a 41-year-old man with firearms possession after he allegedly fired a homemade gun in a block of flats in South Yarra last night.
Time for another law. We must do something about the home armory loophole!

A Gun Room at Work?

The National Rifle Association, sensing trouble on its proposed bill in the state Legislature that would require employers to allow workers to have guns in their cars in company parking lots, offered some unusual compromises Wednesday:

* Creating gun rooms at work and having workers check their weapons when they arrive.

* Separate parking lots for gun owners.

* Making it OK to carry in the car, as long as you tell your boss.
Lock up you safety facilities, separate but equal facilities, and permission.

Yep. Sounds like "shall not be infringed" to me.

Some Good News

Last week I brought you the story of Mark Edward Marchiafava, whose unlawful arrest by Gonzales, La. police and subsequent confiscation of his property raised the ire of Liberty Zone readers. This morning, I'm gratified to tell you that Mark took a trip to Gonzales yesterday and retrieved both his weapon and his bail money.

Good work, Nicki.

Why Is There Any Question?

A local rapper was killed in December when a gun went off inside his mouth, but it remains unclear whether the death was an accident, suicide or murder.

The guilty party seems pretty clear to me--"the gun went off inside his mouth." That precludes human intervention, doesn't it?

My only question is why this phenomenon is so common in establishment media reports, yet I've never known anyone in real life who had encountered one of these self-animated guns...?

We're the Only Ones Frisky Enough...

Before the gun was discovered at the jail, it was apparently in the suspect's boot while he rode in a police car, while he was questioned at police headquarters and while he was being booked at the Wake County Jail.

Sorry for the horrible pun, but it seemed to fit...

A US Tragedy

"I still don't think it makes any sense for all of us to be packing guns in our pocketbooks and our cars," said St. Louis Alderman Lyda Krewson, who was widowed in 1995 by an armed carjacker and who lobbied against the law. "We just have a situation where there are more guns on the street."

And we see how well your way worked, Lyda...

It appears many in the US are not that far behind our UK cousins...

A UK Tragedy

The mother of the two women gunned down at a family barbecue has called for a public inquiry into the use of firearms and how to protect the public from them.
What, like make them more illegal? And note the complaint that authorities did not arrive for more than an hour after the incident--while people were mortally wounded and with children in the house.

This story is pitiable in more ways than one. This is what a once great people have been reduced to: public policy based on gnashing and wailing.

This is what some would reduce us to.

Not while some of us draw breath.

Weapons & Shoddy Tactics

I still haven't received a reply from Weapons & Tactics editor/publisher James Bartel concerning my post about his newsletter reprinting old internet hoaxes.

Correspondent Keith Dowers has, though, and sent me what they sent him.

As Mr. Dowers notes, there is no apology. The editor, in fact, appears to defend his decision to run with these, using as justification that he got them from a cop--and we here at WarOnGuns know how infallible the only ones can be...

Bartel also questions the methods and credibility of Snopes.com, noting their generalized policy for establishing veracity and making an unmistakable insinuation with the observation "they make money doing it"--as if he's not.

Considering his retired cop source, Bartel says, it's not their policy to verify what they print and charge their customers for.

How about this, Mr. Bartel--ask your insider source to provide some police reports.

You want to compare your credibility to that of the Urban Legends people, fine. You print not one, but two articles that are word-for-word reproductions of material that has appeared on the internet for around six years, but somehow we're to believe that you're the ones to be taken seriously. Is it standard practice at W&T to publish work done by others (hoax or not) without attribution or payment--and then turn around and charge your customers for it?

This is just about the lamest excuse-making I've ever seen. Bartel deserves to have the marketplace respond accordingly.

MMM3 Update

We have more entries that got posted to Control Arms after I posted yesterday's gallery. They'll make Gallery IV, but until then, here are the links:

Cowboy Blob has shared a message of solidarity with Control Arms from the Peerless Leader, who is probably more concerned about the masses than he is about Team America. Love the caption on the graphic--and, of course, those Mousketeer caps.

Meanwhile, Thus I Have Spoken has had success at posting some victims of those who wish to Control Arms, and, of course, has more great screen shots.

SOP for BATFU

Activist gun owners know of the long train of abuses from BATFU. The outrages at Richmond gun shows are but the latest to actually gain attention--too often, the only ones who know about agency arrogance are its victims.

I just got the following email forwarded to me by the former owner (now retired) of one of the nation's largest gun shows. It indicates such tactics are on the rise--that they weren't as common in the days when my friend was still involved:
You missed all the fun stuff with your show. I know at the last one there were over 100 undercover ATF and local cops...they even brought in the Narcs for godsake. One guy selling black guns said he got asked many, many times by these goons if he could 'sell them some machine gun stuff'. Incredible, but incredibly sad and disgusting.

Here's the outrageous thing--if you're an activist gun owner, this won't surprise you. You'll expect it as a matter of course. From an administration that gun owners put into office, no less.

Million Moon March Gallery III

Blognomicon notes an inconsistency with Control Arms' acceptance policies. Apparently, a screenshot over at Thus I Have Spoken showed a graphic (©Oleg Volk) from the Million Faces website that they had rejected when he submitted it. Oh well, it's there now.

Captain of a Crew of One
finally got some respect for a Nobel Prize nominee and gun control advocate. Tookie thinks if world governments "get tough on arms," his tough arms will be the only ones wielding a shotgun as he blasts his helpless victims to death. The Million Facers want to give Tookie that advantage.

The Captain also treats us to some other men whose identical costumes make them appear to be fraternity brothers, or members of the same club or something. Since Control Arms added their pictures to their gallery of supporters, perhaps they're members of some peace group...?

Anyway, meet Gat:

DOA:

Firstdegree:

and--well wad'dya know--same name--we'll just call him Bizarro Firstdegree:

With names like that, they're probably a boy band. And maybe "Make Me Safe From Armed Violence" is the title of their new hit single...?

The Captain also links us to this entry from "Kristopher" (not sure if this is another Oleg masterpiece or not, but will mention it with gratitude for whoever deserves credit for this great photo):

Here's another one the Captain found, where "Jack" lets all those Control Arms supporters know what will happen when they abdicate responsibility for their own protection and rely completely on the government. Obviously, anyone who would do such a thing doesn't know Jack.

[If anyone knows who should be credited for this poster, please advise.]

Finally, the Captain found this picture of Neil, who has discovered a side benefit to victims being disarmed: Free transatlantic flights on Gulf Stream jets!

I note from comments on the Captain's post that Fish Or Man--who points us to a "Control Arms Success Story"-- may have been involved in posting some of these? I want to make sure everyone gets proper credit and no one feels snubbed--so if the Million Faces posts your picture, please drop me a line to let me know.

Fodder over at Ride Fast & Shoot Straight is having success with a Teutonic theme.

The Million Facers join in saying "Heil!" to Reinhard (as in SS Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich):

and Josef (Goebbels, that is):

-------
Interlineated Update: Somebody at Control Arms must have recognized Reinhard and Josef, because they have been replaced with the placard-holding silhouettes--in other words, they will happily add them to their numbers of supporters, but prefer to mask their identities from embarrassing scrutiny. How very telling.

-------

As we've noted before, Thus I Have Spoken is the place to go for screenshots:

Steamdragon is trying another novel tack--victims of government "gun control" enforcement. If Control Arms succeeds in getting more citizen disarmament laws passed, you can bet there will be plenty more opportunities for new Waco and Ruby Ridge-type massacres--for the children.

Why look--here's the Weaver family:

SD--be sure and let us know if any of your Mount Carmel victims make it, OK? People need to know about the lovely young lives snuffed out by government enforcing existing gun laws--and understand that adding global edicts into the mix will certainly add to the toll of victims.

He also managed to get Elian accepted. The last time we saw him, the poor kid was crying in terror from armed violence:

It also looks like Tookie got his name in twice. Sneaky Tookie! People can't turn their backs on you for a second, can they? What a card!

Likewise, "Jeff" has now made his second appearance. I think the first time, he went simply by "D." Oh well, call him anything--just don't call him late for dinner!

Nicki continues the "Predators on Parade" theme, and got a nice "thank you" addressed to "Joe Tito" from his pals at Control Arms. I cracked up when I realized she posted this on their "Yugoslavia" page.

Fun Bob also had fun with the predator angle. I knew he submitted Nazi mass murderer Adolf Eichmann, aka "Ricardo." I just couldn't believe Control Arms would post it, along with a heartfelt plea to be made safe from armed violence.

Meanwhile, Jeremy H. is on an emotional rollercoaster after being continuously rejected by the Million Faces campaign. They seem to like terrorists, Nazis, child molesters, criminals and murderers, but they didn't like seeing Jeremy happy--which I can understand--or fearful--which, considering their natural state, is surprising. Here, Jeremy wants to assure them that when it comes to guns, he feels their pain.

At least Jeremy's submission of Saddam crony Ibrahim al-Duri was acceptable. Jeremy--I think I know what your problem is. You need to go help gas a bunch of Kurds first, and then resubmit your pictures.

Still, Jeremy shouldn't feel alone. Bill Clark also knows the sting of rejection, which is too bad, because these guys are part of the same dreamy boy band that the Million Faces went gaga over, above.

I guess I just don't understand why Control Arms rejected these last two. I mean, who wouldn't want to give up their guns after seeing these guys?

Keep 'em coming--I think we're having an effect because I see many new submissions from the antis--and they look like they were all taken at the same convention or something--which could mean they are aware and countering. The switching of Reinhard and Josef seems to confirm this.

Thanks to those of you who have supported this, and if you're one who hasn't yet, come on--join the fun. It'll take you less than 5 minutes and won't cost a dime. When have you ever been solicited for a 2A cause where that was all that was asked of you?

Almost Forgot...

Been busy compiling additions to the Million Moon March Gallery, and just remembered it was Second Amendment Saturday over at Free Constitution yesterday.

Stan keeps asking us to use trackbacks, but I'm too inept at this to figure out how.

Death to Jingjing and Chacha

With their big blue blinking eyes and their quirky personal websites, there is no denying the cuteness of the cartoon cops at the front line of China’s battle for control of the internet.

But the role played by Jingjing and Chacha, the animated online icons recently introduced by police in the southern Chinese boomtown of Shenzhen, is entirely serious.

The cartoon couple patrol the city’s news and discussion websites to scare off anyone who might be tempted to use online anonymity to break China’s laws, says Chen Minli, director of the Shenzhen City Public Security Bureau’s Internet Surveillance Centre. [More]

"Jingjing and Chacha." Jeez, it sounds like names at a panda exhibit.

Why, here are the lil' cuties now:

Here's a clear response message I'd like to see spread across China:

Why not join me in sending a copy of these symbols of repression getting their just deserts to the Chinese government , along with the message "Death to Jingjing and Chacha"?

Who knows? Maybe these new mascots will find their way into the hands of some liberty dissidents and give them some ideas. Perhaps if this--or similar graphics--makes its way around, it'll turn up on Google-China image searches that aren't filtered to suppress the terms "Jingjing" and "Chacha."

And perhaps, some day, the haughtiness will be gone from the wretched, imperious Chen Minli. Perhaps her arrogance will be replaced by guilty trembling as a citizen tribunal judges her for crimes against liberty...
