An Explosive Proposition

That’s why the “clarification” they issued within days of being exposed came across like nothing so much as the late Gilda Radner’s Emily Litella character on the original Saturday Night Live show. Remember how she’d go on a rant about a subject she misheard? Then when advised she had everything wrong, look right at the camera, smile and say “Never mind”?
That’s pretty much what ATF did in a newsletter addendum titled “Nitrocellulose Update.” [More]
My latest GUNS Magazine "Rights Watch" column looks at ATF's latest misadventure in industry relations.

We're the Only Ones Anonymous Enough

For nine years, DEA withholds names of masked agents who violently raided two innocent women. Federal court shrugs. [More]
Yes, Col. Cooper?  You have something to add...?
I have been criticized by referring to our federal masked men as “ninja” … Let us reflect upon the fact that a man who covers his face shows reason to be ashamed of what he is doing. A man who takes it upon himself to shed blood while concealing his identity is a revolting perversion of the warrior ethic. It has long been my conviction that a masked man with a gun is a target. I see no reason to change that view.

Without a Trace

And these are just the classification letters...
Poor overworked ATF.  Aren't the risks of registration worth it if it can solve one crime?  [More]

Speaking of that, out of the "more than 340,000 tracing requests every year to help law enforcement solve crimes," how many crimes have been solved that would otherwise not have been had ATF not identified a name gleaned from a retailer's 4473 copy? Factoring in the costs of these operations, how much does that work out to per solved crime?

Anybody know? House Oversight? Bueller?

And while it's interesting to see "how the ATF traces guns in America," I'm actually more interested in seeing them be just as forthcoming explaining how the hell they expect us to believe they were trying to trace guns in Mexico.

Up in Smoke

A federal ban on the sale of guns to medical marijuana card holders does not violate the Second Amendment, a federal appeals court said Wednesday. [More]
I hate to say "I told you so"...

He certainly is unique.  Those who would control us don't like that.

The Blame Game

Responding to Glock’s lawsuit, she referenced news stories about a sheriff's deputy accidentally firing a Glock pistol in San Francisco’s Hall of Justice, a Los Angeles police officer who was paralyzed from the waist down after his 3-year-old son accidentally fired his Glock pistol, and a Massachusetts man who was dancing at a July 4th party when his Glock handgun fired while it was in his pocket. [More]
Damn -- if all that ain't the fault of the gun, I don't know what is!

This Maura Healey character certainly is a piece of ... work.

It Depends upon what the Meaning of the Word 'Violation' is.

“One issue we see often is that the same mistake on a form repeated each time, like ‘Y’ instead of ‘Yes’ or an abbreviation of a county, gets misrepresented as ‘hundreds of violations’ by anti-gun interest groups. ATF says they have to note each one of the violations. So the ‘number of violations’ a dealer might have can be very misleading”... [More]
Yep.

If Only...

Those are some pretty big "ifs." [More

Here's one that -- barring something totally unforeseen -- is a given: IF Trump doesn't win, Hillary will.

It's not a question of whether or not we like that "choice" (or lack thereof), and for the purpose of this argument it's not even a value judgment or a warning -- it's simply an acknowledgement of a reality that, again, barring something totally unforeseen, we're trapped in.

Disagree if you like. Bring facts that can be independently validated, not mere opinions, if you expect to persuade.
