Members Make Case to Intervene in New York Action Against NRA

The motion, filed by NRA members Frank Tait and Mario Aguirre, seeks to ensure that the membership is not held accountable for the actions of association officers and “to protect their rights as individuals and as NRA members under the U.S. and New York constitutions as well as applicable New York statutes.” [More]

Letitia James has her interests and Wayne LaPierre has his. So who's looking out for the interests of members caught in the middle?

Misdirected

There don’t seem to good odds of a director explaining to the court how re-electing corrupt officers (after their corruption has been public knowledge for years), not even asking them if the charges were true, not investigating, purging directors who did ask, etc., was action in “good faith,” reasonably believed to be in NRA’s best interests, that fairly entitles them to reimbursement by the corporation to which they owed a fiduciary duty. “Why didn’t you even question LaPierre?” “why did you shout down Journey?” can’t be answered with “if I did, the Nominating Committee wouldn’t re-nominate me” or “Marion Hammer would get nasty to me.” But without those answers, that $5 million fund cannot be used to indemnify anyone. [More]

This could turn into a real can of legal worms.

That's the last paragraph in a letter to an Arizona constituent objecting to Chipman confirmation from Mark Kelly's office -- it would have been nice if the staffer cared enough to pay attention and include the right boilerplate response instead of their form letter on prescription drugs for seniors.

No job is worth your dignity.  Speak your mind when appropriate. Never brown-nose. Refuse to be pressured into doing anything you know is wrong. Tolerate no bullying. The worst they can do to you is fire you. On a scale of 1 to 10, compared to a real-life challenge, that barely registers.

Corpus Delicti

As Josh Blackman and James C. Phillips once noted, for example, if you checked a corpus for uses of the verb “to read,” you’d probably find far more examples of people reading newspapers than of people reading street signs — but the low frequency of street-sign references would tell you nothing of importance. It would merely reveal that people read newspapers more than they read street signs, or at least more frequently discuss reading newspapers. A law forbidding people “to read,” or a constitutional provision giving them a right to, would presumably apply to street signs (and nutritional labels and ancient scrolls) just as much as it applied to newspapers. The Incredible Shrinking Man

 Message from a Facebook friend:

FB is playing with your numbers of shares, probably to demoralize us conservatives who have lots of friends. For example, I have shared all of your Ammoland articles in the last several months, most of the time to two places, my timeline and elsewhere. They are still posted, yet when I look at your shares in your timeline, you only have a few shares, and my shares are some of the ones that do not show. DOJ Backs ATF... and Stigmatizing Gun Owners, were shared by me but they do not reflect in your shares on your page! Our articles, especially yours, are being shared by lots of people but you cannot see them!

Thanks for the feedback on this-- it does not surprise me-- Google changed their algorithm so my articles that used to appear under their "News" tab don't start showing up until the second or third page.

A regular Google search on my name in quotation marks, which is what I use to see how the work is spreading, used to yield >100K returns. The "News" tab used to return @ 20K. Currently, I'm just over 19K in the general search and 1K in "News."

It also shows under my AmmoLand articles, which used to routinely reflect thousands of "shares," but of late generally don't exceed the low hundreds.

Despite that, as always, there is only one thing I ask of the regulars here, whether you do it using "social media" or some other way, like forums and emails.
