NRA fundraising email contradicted by group’s grade for key Senate Democrat

What more does the Vulcan chessmaster need to realize (assuming he doesn't already understand perfectly) that his -- and his masters’ -- decisions in this race are jeopardizing the Senate turnover, and with that they are jeopardizing everything else, all the way up to the composition of the Supreme Court and the future rulings it will make? What more does it take for Fairfax über alles “loyalists” to understand their blind defense of NRA paid staff can lead to exactly the dire conditions Cox is warning us of as he asks for more money so he can keep the scares coming? That's pretty much the same as "just following orders. No?

And to answer Doug's question...

What I guess surprises me is how few ever reported on the expansion in each of the states. It's been a little-heeded warning against a threat that is now coming into full view.

Hell yes.

VLLA SELLA IN PVGNA IN TABERNA

Something tangentially related that I did back when I had the time was wrote to candidates who were pretty much silent on 2A, and set the tone of my inquiry so that a reader would assume I supported "common sense gun laws" while being careful to avoid the rabid rhetoric that would spook them from responding.

I "outed" a local politico that way. If I get some time to go through my hardcopy archives, I'll see if I can find that.

These are the Domestic Enemies the Founders Warned Us Against

Democratic assemblyman Brian Kavanagh of Manhattan announced legislation last week that would let anyone bring law-abiding citizens into court for a temporary order to either confiscate their guns or prevent them from buying any firearm in the first place. The bill would force citizens to defend themselves to a court of law even if no charges have been filed against them. [More]
This is what happens when politicians feel secure. This is what happens in areas where the Second Amendment deterrent is not believed, and thus not respected.

At least this piece of subversive crap gives us more evidence to throw back in the faces of the "No one wants to take your guns" liars, not that they would stop lying.

Thing is, if the ultimatum is "Obey or be destroyed" and some say "No" and mean it, things are going to get ugly and people are going to get hurt.  Does Kavanagh think his part in making that happen will go unnoticed and not be taken personally?

Furthermore, she says, the Greek word used in the Gospels that Martin interprets as sword really means something more akin to knife.
Actually, when I looked into it some years back, I found:
[L]ooking at the Greek source for this passage, the word used was "machaira" (makh'-ahee-rah), and it was a very special kind of sword. Derived from the root word "mache" (mach'-ay), meaning fighting, strife, combat, of those in arms, battle, etc., the machaira was a short thrusting weapon, designed for close infighting. This also allowed for concealment, a requirement when you consider the need for discrete deployment of weapons under Roman occupation, plus it was readily affordable by common people- kind of the "Saturday night special" of its day.
But what does an infidel/heretic like me know?

Anyone can be sucker-punched. Certain situations and places can induce a relaxation from being on guard.

I would submit being on the street at 3 a.m. in Chi-Town is not one of those situations.

Not that I want to be judgmental of Harvey "Only Ones" or anything.

Not me. No sir.

Besides, it's not like it was a lot of guns...

And don't get me started on the second incident with the Chi-Town cop.  Although what both these guys were doing "off duty" and on the streets at 3 a.m. is certainly worth asking about...

General Methods

Who could read this and conclude citizen disarmament is the way to go? [More]

Thing is, "democracy" is no guarantee, either, without the true egalitarian power-sharing that comes with having the means to say "No" and back it up.  We need more than a "general method of nonviolence."

We need a general method to deter violence, and to resist and overcome it when it's initiated. That means we need a general method to respond with violence.
