Hood now maintains the ruling clarifies "Mississippi as a state where people can openly carry a weapon doesn’t apply outside the judge’s Hinds County jurisdiction," the report states. [More]Today's second Gun Rights Examiner report clarifies an issue that's caused a lot of confusion--and appears to be contradicted by the AG's own filing which said the STATE was enjoined. Hopefully, the Miss. Supreme Court will end this nonsense once and for all with a positive ruling that will liberate even Hinds Country.

Miss. AG Hood says gun ruling not statewide
Capture of Los Zetas chief highlights problems with 'gun control' narrative
So much for trusting government and the media to get types and numbers right. So much for using those as reliable indicators for ‘needed” additional gun laws. And so much for the need to "walk guns" to find out who illegally-armed cartel leaders are. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes little things like facts never get in the way of a good agenda.
We're the Only Ones Bereaved Enough
On the day of Saylor’s funeral, two law enforcement officers sent a text that was read aloud; it said they, too, would miss him. [More]Yes, it sounds like they really cared for him. Especially the part about the "unexplained damage to the larynx" and how "none of the evidence presented to the jury was made available to the family or public for months, despite Freedom of Information Act requests."

Reading List
The Captain's Journal has posted one, along with insightful commentary. [More]
In re his first observation, about adjusting counsel to accommodate for physical limitations and age, being part of the demographic that would have to rely on old age and treachery rather than youth-enabled conditioning and skills, I would just have to do what I can and realize I'd probably die if forced to take on what I can't.
God may be merciful, but His universe does not adjust its rules to accommodate such inequities. Some tests, us old guys will fail. Others, we might surprise people.
Not to say we should just give up altogether on the physical--but like the line goes, a man's gotta know his limitations. Plus, I have other priorities that would suffer if I spent the time needed for those chasing something I can never hope to capture.
This will change for the worse in a few years, but right now I'll get several miles with a full pack. No idea how many. After that, you'll be leaving me.
And the world keeps on spinnin'.

So Much for that "Wall of Separation"
God forbid anyone but "progressive" citizen disarmament fanatics make such decisions -- without state coercion and the threat of armed force to back things up. [More]
Funny, how such walls work -- and how they always seemed to be topped with razor wire...

Two Peas in a Pod
"We are surely a kinder and gentler nation because of you," Obama told Bush, sparking a sustained round of applause from the packed room and tears from daughter Dorothy Bush Koch. [More]Isn't the spirit of "bipartisanship" in "our democracy" wonderful?
It Wasn't Just Skittles
Andrea Shea King has a new column out. [More]
She's right. The Conservative Treehouse did the work "Authorized Journalists" won't do, and they deserve to be recognized for it.

You can't stop some people from destroying themselves. Sometimes, all you can do is try to keep their destructive behaviors from dragging you down with them.

People Who Annoy You
Racists who call other people racists based on racist double-"standards" are on my list. [More]
Damn naggas.
I will continue to annoy such people in return by insisting on treating others as individuals, for good or for ill, based on how they treat me.

This Day in History: July 16
I am honored with yours of yesterday and rejoice for Greene's return on Rawdon. I still hope he will keep him at a respectable distance. Tarleton certainly means to push the Rawdon. The lucky change you mention may be the means of entrapping him. His force is 600 chosen horse & mounted infantry. I fear Gregory will fail, expecting Lord Cornwallis will send a detachment round by Edenton. Their rear, and a strong one it is, is at Meades Heights. Partys of Horse scour round. [More]
