Plenty of people have passed it on to me as well, and the emails invariably never have links to a credible source, but do include everyone in their address book with no attempt to BCC, along with an all caps instruction to "PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW."

I've addressed the problems with that before.
