This happened in my neck of the woods and I've been following this story since yesterday wondering what could have precipitated the charges. What this confirms is you don't call the cops to resolve domestic matters. Once charges are filed, the wording is "People vs. ..." making the state the only entity that can drop them.
And this whole business of secret grand juries, which only get to hear a defendant painted in the worst possible light with no ability to refute, is abusive of liberty. To convene one over this seems like prosecutors had nothing better to do in Portage County, which ain't far from the truth.
