Meanwhile, Across the Pond in Sarah Brady Paradise...
Teachers leave boy, 5, stranded in tree because of health and safety (then report passer-by who helped him down to police) [More]Right then.
In case anyone is wondering why I haven't said anything yet about the Cumbria shooting, I'm wrapping up a column this afternoon on that for my "Rights Watch" submission to GUNS Magazine. I needed to wait for some pertinent information to be reported and now have what I need to finish the article.
We're NOT the Only Ones Catty Enough
Because if we were, there'd be none of this:
He was booked into the Middle River Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond. [More]
How Do You Say "Wascally Wabbit" in Belgian?
European regulators on Monday urged EU governments to adopt new rules banning the international export of hunting rifles and other arms for civilian use. [More]Well, gee, "sportsmen," maybe there's a reason some of you ought not be so quick to throw EBRs under the bus...what with hanging together/hanging separately 'n all that...
Although I'm sure some sporting gun owners may perceive no need for a EuroFudd "sniper rifle"...

We're the Only Ones Shaming You Enough
The men featured on the flier do not face charges in the slaying or outstanding warrants for other offenses...[More]In other words, they haven't even been charged with anything, let alone tried and convicted, but government feels it can single them out for special negative public treatment.
First, that assumes hard core gang members capable of feeling shame--some revel in notoriety, and this solidifies a street reputation that they've pulled something over on the man.
Second, it assumes it is the function of government to punish people who are legally innocent of any crime. If they can do this to gang members, they can do this to people who self-identify as militia members.
And we've seen where that leads.

ATF, ESF-13 and WMD
So what is the real scary thing? That ATF has been put in charge of "Emergency Support Function 13" to "ensure public safety and security in the event a WMD incident overwhelms state and local law enforcement"? Or that two years later, they still haven't done jack shit about it? Both? [More]Glad to see Vanderboegh bring this up. I was going to do something about it on Gun Rights Examiner today but opted to cover the Hutaree development because I've been following that story.
I still may post some relevant documents on this tomorrow.

Indictment Adds Weapons Charges Against Hutaree
This raises questions about what role the reported infiltrator may have played, and importantly, will the government be relying on the NFRTR to prove its case? [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at a new tack by the government--and asks if an old problem will factor into things.
