Bratton ‘resisting arrest’ proposal a ploy to strengthen police state

“NYPD Has a Plan to Magically Turn Anyone It Wants Into a Felon,” Gawker Justice observes in a more hard-edged assessment that includes examples of resisting arrest charges being deliberately unjustly applied. And it’s that felony rap that should most outrage right to keep and bear arms advocates, because such convictions will result in lifetime prohibitions against owning guns, outcomes Bratton and his boss, socialist mayor Bill de Blasio, wouldn't mind seeing more of. Understand these are people who want to deploy with machine guns to control protesters, a wish they've apparently publicly backed down from -- for now. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes these people are terrified of us. If they weren't, they wouldn't be so desperate to stamp out any chance of resisting their will.

Get Off His Side?

He raises points that no doubt are agreed with by many. [More]

That said, people with a different line in the sand are making their defiance known. Whether what happens today causes more to join them or more to distance themselves remains to be seen, but there will be resurgences as infringements without recourse increase. The antis are going to keep pushing, and a growing number of gun owners are getting sick and tired of being told their only option is to repeat failed tactics in places where they have no chance to succeed.

You don't have to like it or feel comfortable with it. I've taken some recent heat for expressing caution and doubts myself. But the one thing we must never forget is that the true extremists are those who would criminalize rights.

Once More into the Breach

I'll do what I can to pass along unique information as the day progresses.  In the mean time, stay tuned to this Facebook page and this Twitter feed.

For instance, let's see if this changes, or if the strategy is just to shut everybody out:

I'll be adding updates throughout the day to the link list at the end of my GRE article.

Wait a Few Days, You'll Hear About It

Because no newspaper or network has breathed a word yet. As always, "Authorized Journalists" need to "legitimize" the report first, not that the corroborating links don't already do that.

Besides, if he wasn't already doing the Lord's work, how else would we ever notice all those screaming headlines about Brian Williams, or learn that Rosie O'Donnell is exiting "The View"?

The guy was useless in Fast and Furious, too, until "real reporters" got involved.  How much information preceded that and has still never been noticed outside of a niche readership again?

It may seem like I'm just bitching for self-serving reasons, and guilty as charged, but the bottom line is this allows the narrative to be controlled by those who would control everything else. And as per standard Bizarro World practice, the illusion of a masses-reaching "maverick" serves that purpose well.

A Wasted Life

I've spent my life studying this, so I won’t return to address idiots with lame, stupid, ignorant arguments and inane insults. [Comment must load]
I'm glad you're impressed with yourself, Sophie. My reactions to that statement are "You didn't learn much" and "Good, but you're projecting."
