Another BATFU Raid

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Flint Field Office, executed federal search warrants Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Highland Gun Barn, located at 2525 M-59, Highland, Mich., and the Otisville Gun Barn, at 12163 M-15, in Otisville, and arrested Gabriel Kish III and Deborah J. Summers for dealing firearms without a license. The Otisville Gun Barn is licensed by ATF. However, the Highland store is not licensed due to their license being revoked by ATF in 2004 for violating the Gun Control Act.

Anybody have any info on this?

In Hindsight...

...my foresight back in April, 2005 wasn't totally off:
SCOTUS, of course, has been ducking this issue for a long time. They'll probably take the path of least resistance again, and refuse to hear such cases. However, if they accept either Seegars or Parker, I believe the court will not dare say there is no individual rkba. But if they find there is one, it will be so heavily burdened with "reasonable restrictions" as to ensure the status quo. They'll never admit the truth unless someone, that would be us, has enough power to compel them.
And that last prediction still stands.

California Says "Thumbs Up" to Pilot Program

A Sacramento man pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of ammunition by a felon after buying bullets from a local sporting goods store...

Clark's illegal activity came to light as a result of a pilot program requiring merchants to collect identifying information from people buying ammunition.
There is no evidence he ever harmed another, yet he has no recognized right to defend himself for life. Now the captivity special interests will get another several years' worth of subsidies.

So who's interest is this in? And who would buy their ammo from a place that requires registration and a thumbprint when anonymity is just a few hours' drive away?

This reminds me of a little impolite activism I engaged in several years back. I'm sure some would say it wasn't very effective, but you'd be surprised what a good morale boost can be worth.

The Fly in the Ointment

But then something unusual happened. The jury sent a note to the trial judge with the following query: Since the Constitution needed to be amended in 1919 to authorize federal criminal prosecutions for manufacturing and smuggling alcohol, a juror wanted to know from the judge where “is the constitutional grant of authority to ban mere possession of cocaine today?”
Or guns.

We're the Only Ones Old School Enough

A police head constable showing off a service revolver to a bunch of schoolchildren and their teacher visiting a police station here, accidentally shot the teacher, who had to be rushed to the hospital.
I see the message of The Patron Saint of The "Only Ones" is spreading across the globe...

The Legal Purchase Loophole

The haul, found in a cellar in Spånga and an apartment in Sundbyberg, included grenades, antitank grenade launchers, automatic weapons, pistols and explosives...

The weapons are both military and civilian, some of which have been stolen in Sweden, others from the former Yugoslavia...

Speaking to the TT news agency, Göranzon said it was "worrying that it is so easy to procure weapons from that part of Europe. There are plenty of weapons in those countries."
Damned legal purchasers. Right?

Safe at Last

The boys are 9, 12 and 13 years old. They got locked in the safe when a friend shut the door as a prank at Dick's Sporting Goods.
Two things: People need to be responsible to watch their damn kids when they go shopping and not just let them run free in stores, at least until they've proven themselves responsible enough to be trusted with a looser rein. And Dick's should have enough experience with customers to anticipate some people aren't responsible and the kids they have are generally idiots.

I wonder who's going to eat the damage?

This Day in History: August 16

Capt. Eleazer Lindsey of Col. Gerrishes Regt tried by a General Court Martial, for “absenting himself from his post, which was attacked and abandoned to the enemy.” The Court on consideration are of opinion that Capt. Lindsey be discharged the service, as a person improper to sustain a Commission.
