Now hold the damn phone a minute. The SWAT team thought he had drugs and weapons and gang affiliations, and they called him first, and gave him 20 minutes to collect himself and the kids?

I thought the whole point of doing a dynamic entry on such raids was so evidence could not be destroyed.

Who here thinks that the 4 am wake-up experience for a non-"Only One" would have been the same?

Hey, the guy may have warranted this approach. We won't know until we know what he did--and why that should be withheld ought to be as much a cause for concern as anything--if citizens are going to be dragged off, We the People need to know why.

At this point, I'm merely noting that there are some, veterans among them, who apparently will be approached with certain training-based assumptions...

Those of us who think they may fit into this category may want to take some extra precautions.

We're the Only Ones Adding to the Negative Image Enough

The recent shooting in a Moscow supermarket by police Major Denis Yevsyukov, who killed three people and wounded six, only added to the negative image of those who are supposed to protect the population from illegal guns used by criminal elements. Yevsyukov used a pistol that had been missing for nine years, and it is now suspected that he and his deputy were engaged in illegal gun trade. The incident has spurred debate over further legalization of gun ownership in Russia, including the right to carry a gun. [More]

Otherwise, you'd have people thinking they should be able to protect themselves from criminal "Only Ones."

We're the Only Ones Uncharged for Discharging Enough

District Attorney General Jerry Woodall says he will not file criminal charges against the Madison County sheriff's deputy whose gun was discharged in a Jackson store last week. [More]

No, no, I don't suppose he would.

I'm sure he'd also be so considerate of a non-"Only One." Who's toddlers don't occasionally fire their guns off in public? It's not like if this did happen to someone without police credentials that we would be hauled off--or that child protective services would be all over us...is it?

We're the Only Ones "You Got 30 Minutes" Enough

Veteran Miami-Dade prosecutor David Ranck faces battery charges after an alleged scuffle with a pizza delivery woman on Saturday during a delivery that went horribly wrong. [More]

What "went wrong"? You mean it's not OK for a man to hit a woman, or an officer of the court to assault a citizen?

Police sided with the pizza woman on Saturday, but did not take Ranck to lock up. He was released on his own recognizance.

So does that mean you or I can assault delivery people without fearing a night in the slammer, too, or is that reserved for extra-cheesy and crusty "Only Ones"?
