To have any meaning at all, Begich’s vote for Sotomayor should have dropped his rating by a full letter grade, and I would argue for more than that. But compounding the effects of his betrayal with a vote for Kagan should have resulted in an example that all would have taken notice of. Degrading him to an “A-” after that is a transparently insincere joke. With that party über alles move, and by adding potentially mortal insult to critical injury, he should have been given an “F” for life. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes the game-playing for motives unknown continues.

NRA’s ‘A-’ grade for Begich in Alaska Senate race endangers GOP takeover
GRPC Audio
Charles Heller provided me with this recording of my and Dave Workman's media talk.
The whole thing is posted on his Liberty Watch Radio site, but "will probably only be up for about a month," so if you want copies, you'll need to right click and save the files.
Losing Ground
Despite billionaire bucks... [More]
The question is, will it lose enough ground?
Who would bet money that the measure will fail?
Too bad activist gun owners aren't taking it on themselves to work all-out to spread some easy-to-understand arguments that would be persuasive to any with open minds. Too bad they're not lining up in droves to man phone banks, walk precincts and do everything they can to drag other gun owners to the polls.
If this ends the way I bet it will, I'd also bet there will be no shortage of angry comment posters who would otherwise not lift a finger, but who nonetheless will find time to share their "Molon labe!" bravado. And as a proven formula moves from state to state, lather, rinse, repeat.
Sorry, Sir Winston. My guess, based on who won't even do the easy stuff, is only a small percentage will fight even then.

Skewed Justice
Air Force Veteran and Firearms Expert Convicted of Manufacturing Weapons Speaks Out [More]If this is the result of "a comedy of errors," one can only wonder who's laughing.
To Ban or Not to Ban...
Absent a total confiscation, making guns more difficult to buy–whatever the worth of such a policy–won’t materially impact suicide rates. [More]Hey, if it saves one trol... uh, no...
One comedi... ahh, rats.
30,000 Japa... aw, forget it.

Pillow Talk
Curtis Lovelace ... longtime prosecutor ... recently was charged with suffocating his first wife and mother of four on Valentine's Day in 2006 ... [More]This being in IL, my first instinct was to see if he'd ever persecuted anyone on gun charges. This story so dominates the search engines, it's just too time-consuming to keep looking.

We're the Only Ones Kingly Enough
"You understand you're free to go and everything but you wouldn't have a problem with me looking through your car?" [More]I would.
But how to tell him...?

We're the Only Ones Misspeaking Enough
Jeez, buddy, you're not s'posed to tell him, you're just s'posed to do it. [More]

Why Don't They Just Nuke Him?
"I wish people could understand how hard it is to find people in the woods." [More]Yes. Me too.

Legislating from the Bench
Judge Donald Stephens’ decision in the GRNC lawsuit against posting the state fair against concealed carry can best be summarized in his own words: “If I can find a way to interpret the statutes to prohibit concealed handguns in the state fair, I will.” [More]I'd be taking that remark to the Judicial Standards Commission.
We're the Only Ones Biting Enough
STOP F***ING MOVING! [More]Yeah, what kind of noncompliant @$$hole screams and spasms when he's being mauled after we "accidentally" let slip the dogs of war against citizens?

Bloomberg Invading Florida
While you were sleeping last night, the anti-gun forces were wide awake and hard at work. [More]Florida Carry has put out a call for help. If you're from Florida, you need to answer it. If you're not from Florida, you could make today's Five-Minute Activism project spreading their plea by sharing their link, just like I'm doing here.
I was giving a speech recently, exhorting the attendees to roll up their sleeves and get involved, and someone from the crowd yelled "We all have jobs!"
Like that's an excuse. So do these guys:
We need your help! Florida Carry is all volunteer, and has no corporate sponsorship or institutional donors. It is only through membership dues and donations that we are able to fund the fight for your rights.Come to think of it, so did the men at Lexington and Concord...
A Sad Day for Us All
Brenda Leyland was found dead in a hotel room earlier this month after being confronted by Sky News over her alleged trolling of Kate and Gerry McCann, whose three-year-old daughter went missing in Portugal in 2007. [More]May you be an inspiration to more. I know you've inspired me. I'm going to stop calling sadists-psychopaths / infiltrators-disruptors trolls and start calling them @Sweepyfaces.
That said, there's an actual danger here:
Last month a man was jailed for 18 weeks for what British prosecutors described as "a campaign of hatred" against a female lawmaker.I don't know all the circumstances and if actionable threats were made, but that has the potential for much greater evil than any silly troll is capable of generating. Besides, if handled right, they're useful and fun. I generally don't respond to them directly in comment threads, but the "best" ones, that is, the ones that best illustrate something that can be exploited, get special posts.

Except how come she's recognized as First Lady if they're not married yet?
And why does Kitzhaber trust her, and not gun owners?

And why does Kitzhaber trust her, and not gun owners?
Behold, a Pale Horse
And this begs the question, what happens when 1 or 2% of a city have died: who will go to work? People will self-quarantine at home and the economy will crash. And what about the police, fire fighters, EMTs, and hospital crews? What about the crews down at your local power plant, or food distribution center? Think they will all become Mother Teresas, martyring alongside the lepers for the greater good? Think they will not stay home? [More]Matthew Bracken looks at how the Ebola situation could become another situation altogether...
