I've been asked by some readers to address the
Obama birth controversy.
I've been advised by other readers not to touch it lest I be labeled. As if I'm not already.
I'm not one to buy into what politicians and "Authorized Journalists" have to say about things. But here's why I've been relatively quiet on this. I have my own conspiracy...I can't call it a "theory," it's more like a nagging suspicion.
It's that he
can prove he was born here, but it serves his purposes for now to get his political enemies on board with the cover-up story. Perhaps he can even get some high profile politicians to bite. Then, when he thinks the net is as full as it's going to get, he can discredit them and make them all objects of public ridicule.
Which is why I suspect the Republicans won't touch it. Case in point,
Tom Coburn, who has been on new shows assuring people he knows Obama is American-born, although why he is so certain is left unsaid.
I admit I have absolutely no proof on this, so I don't promote it because I can't say I truly believe it myself.
Thing is, those discrediting the "birthers" (which is itself a pejorative term) offer
only ridicule. This came up yesterday on CNN, and the moderator and both his guests did their share of eye-rolling and casting aspersions on motives.
Telling your audience on a supposed news panel that people are kooks just because you say so while making fun of them is hardly a compelling argument. Whenever someone so transparently resorts to that, it makes their motives suspect--especially since it's the only response they offer.
The fact is, this could all be cleared up immediately if Obama would order the release of his original and actual birth certificate, not the computerized printout offered as proof.
If you're interested in following this story, my suggestion is to consult
WorldNetDaily, which has done the bulk of the reporting and
amassed quite an archive.
And that's about all I'll have to say on this matter unless something that changes the current standoff between accusations and stonewalling happens.
