U.S. Attorney steps up case against Reese family by going over judge’s head

Stung by reversals in his office’s prosecution of the Reese family and mindful that scrutiny for his role in that case could derail his elevation to the federal bench, U.S. Attorney for the District of New Mexico Kenneth J. Gonzales filed three documents yesterday with the intent of denying a defense motion to dismiss outstanding counts and compel prosecutors to testify at an evidentiary hearing, and also to go over the head of U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Brack. [More]
This evening's Gun Rights Examiner report notes the only thing more viciously dangerous than a wounded animal is a desperate prosecutor.

I Know You Are But What Am I?

On gun control, the debate following the Newtown, Conn., mass murder of schoolchildren has led to "a kind of white-hot rage unleashed on both the radical right and also within more mainstream political circles," he said. [More]
Meanwhile, the progressive left has been a model of tolerance and reason.

Damn mouth-breathers, standing up to us!  Time to crank up the demonization!

Good job, BOB JOHNSON and JEFF MARTIN of the Associated Press!  You've got all kinds of people believing this is straight news!  Keep this up and you'll both go far!

UPDATE: Looks like one of these guys approached Mike for his side. Well good for him. He should have waited for both before hitting "publish," because the damage is already done, and it will be interesting to see how much of Mike's record-correcting makes it into any revision, and if all the outlets where the original was distributed pick it up.

Still, I want you to note something here--out of everybody out there, they went to Mike. That's significant.  I can't think of a better testament to his expertise.

Suspend Your Disbelief

Members of Colorado Students for Concealed Carry stood in disbelief as the Colorado Senate State, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee passed House Bill 13-1226. [More]
Why?

Get used to it.

Me, I'd be astonished if they acted with logic and integrity.

The question now, is, are you going to obey them?

Civil rights advocates pose dilemma for prejudiced gun-grabbers

It’s the same divide I talked about at the beginning of this column that we who believe in liberty need to be working to overcome and build bridges over, as Colion Noir and Star Parker are doing. How revealing that in the case of CSGV, their message must rely on and perpetuate naked bigotry. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes some latter-day ideological overseers are getting desperate.

And the Hits Just Keep on Coming

Gutierrez's bill would expand the ATF's safety requirements for imported handguns to those manufactured domestically. It would also make it a federal crime to possess so-called "junk" handguns, or transfer them to others. [More]
They will never stop. They will never be satisfied that they've got enough. That's why giving them anything is such an inexcusably dumb-ass tactic.

A Liberal Assessment

Many Democrats find joy in caricaturing gun owners -- even of the non-absolutist variety -- as mouth-breathing barbarians. [More]
But it's OK to do that to absolutists?

The snot just drips from these self-styled elitists who think they're so much more sophisticated than anyone who's not one of them.  That those are precisely the characteristics exhibited by stereotypical ignorant provincial  bigots seems not to even register.

Sleeper Cell

Brian Bowman writes to an advocate of bloody domestic civil war. [Read]

I wasn't aware of this Sleeper creep.  Here's a disturbing glimpse into his demented fantasies:
It will require a domestic civil war against the gun lobby and against interpretations of the First Amendment that unleash the conglomerate rapists of public discourse, especially FOX, a network devoted to making Americans mistrust, fear, and resent one another.

It could be as bloody.
So it's not just the Second Amendment this genocidal hive insect would let slip the dogs of war against.  And naturally, he's a welcome lecturer in the halls of Ivy League academia, where tomorrow's connected decision-making elites are being trained to assume their places at the control panel.

Original Intent

This is one of the best rebuttals I've seen to some of the national government worshipers out there (including some who represent themselves as being "conservatives") who would have us believe no one is qualified to say what the Constitution means but a magical majority of politically-approved judges. Dame of Thrones

Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey claims estranged husband is 'too reckless' to care for son, 2, after he poses with an AK47 [More
So?

And it's not like she's caring for the kid herself:
As a working mum, the actress says it is hard but she makes it work. 'My son is in LA. So every second I have, I go home. I fly between the two.

A Bipartisan Measure

You  know, Mark Kirk and Susan Collins are on board with it. [Read]

We're the Only Ones Appealing Enough

A former police officer accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman has been sentenced to prison but was granted bond while he appeals the conviction. [More]
Meanwhile, look at what the Reese family went through to finally get bond granted after 18 months, and for what?

We're the Only Ones with No Choice Enough

Europe was one of two deputies who responded on a burglar alarm call but ended up at the wrong address, where they shot and killed Jeff Fisher’s dog. Deputy Europe reported he “had no choice” but to shoot and kill Ziggy as the deputy said the dog was lunging towards him and was threatening to “bite me.” [More]
"Bite me"?

That's basically the response to these kinds of incidents we've come to expect from "investigating" authorities  .

Something Missing

Like "Joe's" real name. [Read]

Is he still out there pushing people around like the feral pig you describe? You acknowledge you didn't act to stop him that day.  Act to stop him now.

This Day in History: March 5

Lt. Col. William Washington sent out several groups to patrol his assigned area and one patrol ran across and killed a group of 23 Loyalists driving cattle towards Lord Cornwallis's camp. This, along with recent Loyalist losses at Haw River, caused many Loyalists on their way to join Lord Cornwallis to turn around and go back home before even joining up. [More]
