Term Limits

A man convicted of transferring an unregistered machine gun after his loaned gun fired a burst of bullets and jammed has been released from his 30-month prison term to begin rebuilding his life, according to supporters. [More]
That would be David Olofson.

A bit of text pasted into the story from previous articles that I've commented on before:
"It didn't matter the rifle in question had not been intentionally modified for select fire, or that it did not have an M16 bolt carrier … that it did not show any signs of machining or drilling, or that that model had even been recalled a few years back," said a commentary in Guns Magazine on the case.

"It didn't matter the government had repeatedly failed to replicate automatic fire until they replaced the ammunition with a softer primer type. It didn't even matter that the prosecution admitted it was not important to prove the gun would do it again if the test were conducted today," the magazine said. "What mattered was the government's position that none of the above was relevant because '[T]here's no indication it makes any difference under the statute. If you pull the trigger once and it fires more than one round, no matter what the cause it's a machine gun.'

"No matter what the cause."

The guy who wrote those words has a name, you know, WND. And a little bit of credit (and a working link) from a high-traffic site that has used such extensive quotes on several occasions sure would be helpful, not to mention the right thing to do.

Tovarisch TV

From Kaelyn Forde, a correspondent at RTTV.com:
I’m very pleased to let you know that the Open Carry/Three Percenters pieces, parts 1 and 2, will be airing today, Wednesday April 20 and tomorrow Thursday, April 21. They will air as part of our newscast at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. You can also watch live at: http://rt.com/on-air/rt-america-air/

I’ve attached a pdf of where to watch RT in various parts of the country as well.

Also, you can check out our youtube channel where we will post the video around 5 p.m: http://www.youtube.com/user/RTAmerica

I took the liberty of posting the pdf on Scribd.

Plus they want me to debate this guy, who's against open carry.  No idea what to expect with that as it's a last minute switch from what was supposed to be a solo interview, but like the man said, "I'm yo' huckleberry..."

Tune in--should be fun.

UPDATE:  Interesting. It's the first time I've participated in such a format. The back-and-forth and unexpected twists and curveballs make for a challenge.  I'm not unhappy with the outcome, but do think I'd benefit from some sparring practice.

All of us who advocate for RKBA no doubt would.

Because Anything Else Would Be "A Foolish Idea"...

“All the national parties engaged in the present campaign, plus the Bloc Québécois, support the licensing system established by the Liberals,” observes Al Muir, spokesperson for the Canadian Unlicensed Firearms Owners Association (CUFOA). “Thus, all these political parties approve criminalizing peaceful citizens.” [More]
That's just the way Prof. Quigley wanted it.

We're the Only Ones "For the Children" Enough

An officer accused of arming teens employed by his unauthorized private security business left the force this week while a fellow officer and alleged conspirator remains on leave and awaits a hearing with the city, police said. [More]
So much for being the "Only Ones" against easy youth access to guns...

What if they gave an award and nobody came?

We talked about the upcoming award from Soldier of Fortune for our work on Gunwalker.

To no one's surprise, the powers that be at the NRA Annual Meeting will not allow the presentation to take place at the convention, so this scene in front of the supportive assemblage will remain a fantasy image (pity, I was really looking forward to the ceremonial Wookiee roar):

Alternate arrangements are being made to present the awards at a nearby hotel.  The time and place will be announced when firmed up.

In the mean time, there is a bit of a logistics issue.  Meaning many (most) who receive regular value from Sipsey Street Irregulars apparently assume its proprietor can continue to serve us all with no recompense, and if he wishes to eat and provide for himself and his family, well, he can do that in his spare time and out of our sight.  And that means funds just aren't there to haul Vanderboegh's carcass up from Pinson, AL to accept an award he has earned.

So I repeat my call--not for charity or for donations, but to voluntarily subscribe to Sipsey Street Irregulars. As I said in that post:
My envelope with my $12 annual subscription fee is in the mail.
Mike Vanderboegh
P.O. Box 926
Pinson, AL 35126.
If you agree with me, yours will be too, and you'll spread the word.

As with last time I put out an appeal, I did not clear this with Mike and don't wish to embarrass him.  But dammit, the guy is out there every day giving his all to us.  Click on the three Project Gunwalker Journalist Guide icons in my sidebar and then consider what his prolific output required of him.

Remember, I never ask readers to do anything I don't do myself.  In order to keep expenses down, I'll put him up at my palatial digs in the guest room, plus I'm one hell of a cook, so meals are taken care of, and Pittsburgh is only a hundred miles or so from where I live, so I can handle that leg of his trip.  Meaning we need to either get enough for him to rent a car for a few days and gas it up for a 1,400 mile round trip to my place, or else find out if he's on TSA's No Fly list, what with his being a domestic terrorist hatriot 'n all...

Let's just do this.

Survey SAYS...

Longenecker updates us on his Safer Streets gun owner/CPR survey, includes some commentary from yours truly, and a video from Bob Parks, among other things...[Read]

What's in a Name?

No idea who decided to swap out names and what their intent was if it was not just negligence.

It's Suzanna Gratia Hupp (a real nice lady my son and I had the pleasure of meeting last year).

If you get an email spreading the tale of Judy Dorsett Tyler, tell whoever sent it to you to check their facts before falling for and passing on chain letters--and what do you want to bet you'll also need to educate them on why using "BCC" is the right thing to do?
