Some People Shouldn't Have Guns
Some people shouldn't have water. [Read]
My vote would be, since you can't trust him with it, don't let him have any.

We're the Only Ones Sharing the Christmas Spirit Enough
About 100 guests came and went from the celebration during the course of the evening, but only sheriff's deputies were involved in the scuffle.[More]And it surprises anyone to think they're the "Only Ones" who can't celebrate non-violently why again?
And oh look:
It was unclear if alcohol was involved, but sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said "it was a Christmas party, one could assume there was" drinking.Better not let you and me carry into an Applebees though, even if we don't drink anything. We're just not as awesomely trustworthy as these trained professional "peace officers."
Not that we have to worry about that in L.A., that is, if we're part of the crowd that advocates enforcing existing gun laws.
We're the Only Ones Forced Busing Enough
Hey, someone had to teach the kid that smoking is bad for his health. One witness described the exchange saying, “The officer (Erin Robles) initially confronted the student over a cigar. Some words were exchanged and the officer “slammed the student into a wall, threw him on the ground, took out her Pepper Spray, slammed him into the bus, broke the window out of the bus with his head, sprayed him in the face and slammed him into the bus some more.” [More]

This is Only a Test
Had this been an actual life-threatening security emergency, we would have locked you in place to ensure a contained supply of victims so that we would have time to get into protected positions. [Read]
It beats admitting the best chance for most of you is to stay moving and get the hell out by any and all means possible while armed adults protect you and make any foolish jackal rue the day it was weaned and went searching for easy flesh.
And oh, what a blood dance we'd have had afterward! Maybe we could even get Colin to be the DJ...

If We Could Only Find the Right Words
Should the Constitution be amended to give the states veto power over the federal government? [More]
Government doesn't obey its clear proscriptions now. What makes anyone think they won't show new rules the same disregard, and find new opportunities to exploit and new incentives to corrupt?
The deficiency isn't in the incantation. It's in the compliance mechanism.
There's not enough "or else" in the cost/benefit ratio to dissuade those who would abuse into reconsidering what's in their rational self-interest.
Ultimately, we already have "veto power."

Due Process
The killing was a shocking end for a notoriously brutal man who had terrorized the area for years with seeming impunity from the law until he was struck down in a moment of vigilante justice. [More]If people can't get justice and protection from official or private tyranny any other way, don't be surprised when they "take the law into their own hands."
What did Mr. Kennedy say?
It might be fair to ask whose law is it, anyway?

A Well-Crafted Ordinance
This ordinance shall not restrict the use of a facsimile firearm for self defense of a person’s residence or place of business. [More]Just in case you've received professional training that says your best defense is an impotent bluff.
Somebody ought to tell Chief Ebinger about Chi-Town.
Nahhh....let him find out the hard way.

We're the Only Ones Endangered Enough
City with strictest gun control laws has most officers killed by gunfire [More]Well then, stop it.
No "Only Ones" makes everyone safer?
Who'da thunk it?
Return of "The Human Target"
The Brady Campaign today announced that it and Colin Goddard, an Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs at the Brady Campaign, would be active in opposing concealed weapons on campuses in Texas and other states. [More]Naturally. If his core competency is to be a human target, imagine how the thought of a man who's not helpless and useless in an active shooting situation must threaten his self-image.
While the Bradys expect his story will elicit sympathy from the sob-sisters, I think this pegs what the guy's about as well as anything.
What, they think because of what he endured he should be somehow sacrosanct, untouchable from repercussions, criticism and scorn?
Screw him. And them. He's endangering us all, and trying to impose his will to overrule what is rightfully our choice.
Bare your throat, Colin. Leave mine out of it.
Where Baddies Get Their Guns
Surprise! From the "illegal" market. [More]
Which means it's time for us to demand a crackdown on "legal" owners who submit to the bend-and-spread-'em nonsense to get permission. And to bitch about other areas "where gun laws are lax."
It's what we faux government watchdog "Authorized Journalists" do.
All hail the state!

We're the Only Ones Unidentified Enough
We talked about this the other day.
Now we find the cops never even ID'd themselves before opening fire and hosing the poor guy.
I used to live in Long Beach--I owned my first property there, and did not walk the streets unarmed, which would have made me a "gun criminal" who some would say "makes us all look bad" if caught by the same "Only Ones" who murder citizens.
I have some good stories about the place I won't relate here, that more than justify my decision in my mind. If you ever find yourself across a campfire from me, and the cigars are burning smoothly and we just poured in another two fingers over the ice, ask.

Atlanta lifts airport unsecured area gun ban
While this report focuses on unsecured public areas in airport terminals, such bans also mean “law-abiding” travelers to and from the airport could be left defenseless in sparsely-populated parking areas, as well as for the duration of their trips to and from the airport to pick up or drop off passengers. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column notes a travel safety enhancement, which naturally, the government doesn't like since it doesn't depend on them.
Also resolve to watch more television and marvel at the halo on a Christmas messenger...
Be a messenger yourself and share the link...?
This Day in History: December 16
The newly-acquired Patriot privateer Sally, led by Capt. Benjamin Stone, had a short engagement with a large British transport ship. After having several men killed and wounded and no wind to maneuver his ship the captain had his men row the ship to a safe distance from the enemy before returning to Charleston. Capt. Francis Johnson and five other sailors were killed by enemy musket fire. Twelve men were wounded. [More]
