Well No, Duh!

This save-yourselves approach comes after government agencies were overwhelmed by pleas for help after last year's storms and strongly criticized as not responding swiftly or thoroughly enough to the public need.
It's official.

It must be, it's coming from the government:

We can't protect you. You're responsible for taking care of yourself.

What a novel concept!

Darwin. Paging Mr. Darwin...

Graham is a part-time security guard who brought his gun to the game and passed it around to everyone and pretended to shoot at each other with the gun...
Sounds like a pretty compelling reason to disarm you and me, doesn't it?

Is That A Flare Gun In Your Pocket...

...or are you just glad to see us?

The Fudge Factor

A former top bureaucrat says political expediency - not sound accounting - was the key factor in a decision to fudge a report to Parliament two years ago on the cost of the federal long-gun registry.
"Fudge."

Such a nice euphemism for "fraud."

Hey, just because we're known liars doesn't mean you can't trust us with your personal information.

Oh, it does?

That'll Teach 'Em

A Cook County judge sentenced two men to 2 years' probation on Tuesday after they pleaded guilty in connection with smuggling a handgun into Cook County Jail in February.
Let that be a lesson to the rest of you real criminals. Now if you'll excuse us, we have some slav...uh... "law-abiding citizens" to disarm.

No Surprises Here

Harvard egghead/anti-defense weenie Matthew Miller cheesed out, and only took lobbed softballs.

A young Salina police officer responding to a business burglary about 11:20 p.m. Friday accidentally fired her weapon when she was startled by movement inside the building, Salina Police Chief Jim Hill said Tuesday.
I can't tell you how many holes I've put through walls, family members and neighbors every time I've been startled. But hey, it's a normal reaction. What can you do?

What?

Finger off the trigger...?

Why Not Hold a CRIMINAL Turn-In Program Instead?

Rochester police and members of the clergy will be working out the final details this week to launch a citywide gun turn-in program at five churches on Saturday...

"Most of our killings are caused by guns, and we're saying enough is enough"...

[Rev. Deloris] Simpson said many parents and grandparents know youths in their homes are carrying guns...

"In order for this to work, we have to have buy-in from the community," [District Attorney Mike] Green said. "If we only get one gun off the street Saturday, it'll be a successful day because that's a gun that might have been used in a homicide."
My first thought: I wonder if Deloris is related to Homer.

Overlooked is the very real fact that the homicides are "caused" by killers, that is, the juvenile parasites the parents/grandparents enable.

But blame the guns and make a show of getting them "off the street," while leaving the killers there. Then elect political bosses who will pledge more "gun control," ensuring a steady supply of goats for the jackals--and move all the pieces another step closer to total dependence on the state, that is, to a state of being totally controlled, that is, to a state of totalitarianism.

It might seem DA Green has a pretty bizarre notion of what constitutes "a successful day," but it has been for him. He's got the serfs thinking they owe him one, plus he got ink from his adoring lapdogs at the Democrat and Chronicle.

That can't hurt his political ambitions one bit. And so what if he's got to crush a little freedom along the way? It's not like the cattle he's in charge of herding and culling do anything to secure their own liberty.

Howard: I'm Protected, So the Rest of You Lot, Bugger Off, Mates!

An elderly Sydney couple are recovering after being brutally clubbed with a gun butt for the sake of a few dollars...The 76-year-old woman and her 82-year-old husband were punched and battered with the gun at their boarding house...the attacker burst in and marched him inside to find his wife...He then punched the woman in the head, knocking her down, before striking her, then her husband, with the butt of a sawn-off shotgun and running off...with the woman's handbag, containing a small amount of cash.
Well the Australian government was certainly nowhere to be seen when the attack occurred, and what chance does an elderly couple have against such an assailant?

Perhaps we should ask Prime Minister John Howard what he thinks of weaker people having the means to defend themselves against stronger predators:
[W]e will find any means we can to further restrict them because I hate guns. I don’t think people should have guns unless they’re police or in the military or in the security industry. There is no earthly reason for people to have...ordinary citizens should not have weapons. We do not want the American disease imported into Australia.
How are those taxpayer-funded armed bodyguards working out for you, Prime Minister? Thank goodness being an official makes you and your agents immune to gun disease!

The Ratings Game

More anti-defense cheerleading from Mr. Disarmament himself, Michael Daly. It's not his rant that interests me, as he is always so boringly predictable in his recitation of the Brady playbook. What caught my attention was this:
[New Jersey Rep. Joe] Saxton is generally an opponent of gun control, though he has only a B-plus rating from the NRA.
I can't trust anything Daly writes to be accurate, but just in case he's right on this one, it does bring up a question I've asked before:

Why does GOA give Saxton a "D"?

A Safe House

The safest house is one with no guns, public health experts agree.
Boy, that Sandra G. Boodman can parrot citizen disarmament propaganda with the best of them, can't she? And leave it to the WaPo to present this as news, rather than an editorial page opinion piece.

In a related matter, it looks like Harvard weenie Matthew Miller will be answering questions online today about gun safety in homes. I submitted this:
What percentage of the people in your studies who injured or killed themselves or negligently/wrongfully injured or killed others using a firearm, were NRA members? Since this is one of the most heavily armed citizen populations in the country, don't you think knowing this would be relevant to factor into your conclusions?
Why not take a moment and compose a question of your own?

Remember

This is a special Memorial Day for me.

I lost a dear uncle a week ago.

Like many heroes, you would have never assumed he was one from his demeanor--a more gentle, quiet, kind and unassuming soul you could not have met.

Here is just a glimpse of his character and strength from his Navy Cross citation:
The Navy Cross is presented to George Codrea, Second Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps (Reserve), for extraordinary heroism and courage as Platoon Commander in the Second Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division, during action against enemy Japanese forces in the Solomon Islands, August 21, 1942. When it became necessary to reinforce the firing line during the heaviest fighting against a Japanese landing force of about 700 men, Second Lieutenant Codrea, coolly and with complete disregard for his own safety, placed each man, individually, in a position to deliver the most effective fire. Though wounded twice during the battle, he remained on duty with his platoon until ordered to retire to the aid stations. His outstanding leadership, determination and inspiring fortitude throughout the engagement were largely instrumental in stopping the most serious enemy threat.

Rest in peace, Uncle George. I strive every day, mostly unsuccessfully, to be worthy of the sacrifices made by men like you.

There are still no answers into the death of Ian Bush, the Houston B.C. 22-year-old shot in the head while in police custody after having an open beer at a hockey game in October.

15 martial arts experts, a team that trains together, presumably the best in the land--helpless against armed captors?

You mean real life isn't like a Jackie Chan movie?

Well, let's just see what the Bradys have to say about that:
Women would be safer knowing self-defense to fight off an attacker than using a gun which can easily be turned against them.
That seems pretty authoritative to me.

Next time someone threatens your life, don't reach for that firearm that might be taken away and used against you. Simply adopt the crane stance and give 'em a hearty "Hai-ya!"

UK Imposes Squirt Gun Control

The order authorises the company to prohibit or limit the use of water. It means the clowns will not be able to use water pistols or squirt water from plastic flowers.
And the clown promulgating this nonsense describes it as "sensible."

Why Disarming You and Me Makes Sense

LOS ANGELES HAS MORE CRIMINALS than it can afford. So county officials are forced to release too many jail inmates too early, putting thousands of convicted criminals on the street — with predictably tragic consequences not only for their victims but for public trust in government...

The Times reported last week that seven men have committed murders when they should have been serving out their sentences for other crimes. Nine more are awaiting trial for homicide. Of the nearly 16,000 other criminals rearrested while their earlier sentences were still in force, 518 were charged with robbery, 641 with weapons violations and 1,443 with assault.
The answer, of course, is to give up those nasty, dangerous guns and rely on the government to protect us. No?

It still sometimes amazes me that this is even a debate.

That Mexican Gun Control Sure Is Working

Assailants firing assault rifles killed a Nuevo Laredo police officer and wounded his partner, the 11th law enforcement official to be gunned down this year in this violent border city...The death of the officer brings to 116 the number of people slain this year in Nuevo Laredo, a city of 300,000 across the Rio Grande from Laredo.

The city is in the midst of a turf battle between drug cartels battling for billion-dollar drug routes into the United States.
And the fools/outright traitors in the administration and senate think their dangerous, stupid and treasonous amnesty bill will have any effect on violent men--with billions of incentives--like these?

All it will guarantee is even more violent inner cities, more "law enforcement" and more domestic corruptiion.

Oh, and then calls for more "gun control"--you know, the kind of laws they have in, say, Mexico...

BATFU Investigating Bloomberg

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is examining the results of an unusual sting set up by the City of New York, in which private investigators recorded themselves purchasing handguns at shops in several states...

In a twist, ATF's inquiry will also include a review of whether the city acted legally in setting up the sting.

Several gun-rights advocates have questioned whether the city itself broke firearms rules or committed fraud by attempting to simulate straw sales in other states...
Well it's about damned time the "authorized journalists" began noticing this aspect of the story.

War On Guns has only been harping on this since May 15.

This Day in History: May 27

On this day in 1813, former President Thomas Jefferson writes former President John Adams to let him know that their mutual friend, Dr. Benjamin Rush, has died.

Rush’s passing caused Jefferson to meditate upon the departure of the Revolutionary generation. He wrote, “We too must go; and that ere long. I believe we are under half a dozen at present; I mean the signers of the Declaration.”

We're the Only Ones...I Don't Know What the Hell We Are, But It Certainly Seems Pretty Damned Twisted...

One State Police trooper was suspended for six months last year for allowing an unlicensed worker to sell firearms at a gun shop that the trooper was responsible for inspecting and where he purchased numerous weapons for himself. Another resigned after pleading guilty to internal charges for inviting two boys to his home and showing them pornography.

Three others were suspended for 120 days for causing motor vehicle accidents while off-duty because they were under the influence. A fourth got docked 20 days for being drunk behind the wheel of a state-issued car while he was out of uniform...

The infractions included using excessive force during an arrest, lying to protect an off-duty trooper under investigation, mishandling and destroying evidence, falsifying official reports and disobeying orders.
The important thing to remember is, we're the only ones...

And don't you forget it.

Bloomberg's 1st Punch a Girly Slap

With all the hype, you'd think we'd see something more than this. Meanwhile, the lapdog press hasn't even touched on the possibility that Bloomberg and his investigators are the true criminals...

Angel Update: Buy His Guns to Pay Legal Fees

KeepAndBearArms.com Founder Selling Personal Firearm Collection to Pay Gun- charge Related Legal Expenses

Own One of Angel Shamaya's Guns, Help Out a Worthy Cause

By Gary Marbut

May 25, 2006

KeepAndBearArms.com founder Angel Shamaya is selling most of his personal firearm collection to help defray legal expenses that resulted from gun- related charges in Michigan. Although the court ordered the police to return Shamaya's firearms, the legal expenses are steep -- so he's now selling those same guns. Shamaya says, "I had intended to leave these firearms to my son as his inheritance one day, but I have legal expenses to pay right now. My ultimate goal is to put this mess behind me and raise my son -- a far higher priority than owning extra guns."

The guns for sale include rifles, pistols and shotguns. Shamaya has made arrangements with a local licensed gun dealer to complete the transactions under federal and state law and ship the firearms to the new owners. Anyone interested in any of these firearms can go to the following website for details, descriptions, pictures and direction on how to make a purchase: http://www.marbut.com/angel/AngelSellingGuns.htm

"There are some really nice guns in this collection," says Shamaya. "I appreciate the support I have received from kind-hearted people in dealing with this nonsense. If you'd like to cherry pick one of my firearms, be my guest."

It's Not About "Gun Control"...

Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg thrust himself into the national immigration debate Wednesday, advocating a plan that would establish a DNA or fingerprint database to track and verify all legal U.S. workers...

It's about "People Control." It always has been.

Doesn't "You don't have to work" coming from a billionaire smack of "Let them eat cake"?

This tyrant has secured his place in my list of "The Ten Most Despicable People in America."

In a Class By Themselves

UNABLE to stem the tide of murders of media people, the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is now suggesting that journalists do the job themselves. Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez said the government would allow legitimate journalists to carry firearms if they wanted to do so."

GFZs - public places where firearms are unwelcome - have been endorsed by Gun-Free South Africa (GFSA), a gun-control lobby group established in 1994 as a response to decades of armed violence.
That's right, Jonas--you go on "feeling" that citizen disarmament zones will keep you safe. And who but an "authorized journalist" would consider this a new concept?

We all know predators obey signs.

Say, how about putting up "No Hunting" signs on the veldt if you guys ever have a lion problem...?

And the indignant worm of a "parent" probably "feels" totally justified...

Police Chiefs and Prosecutors Against Self Defense

Unintended Consequences of Proposed LA Law

Yesterday, I posted about a proposed Los Angeles law that would require gun owners to report stolen firearms under threat of punishment.

If I thought their true agenda was public safety, I'd be surprised that the most obvious unintedned consequence of this measure has been missed: It will not affect the class of people who commit "gun violence," since most criminals do not legally "own" their guns. They would actually be immune to complying for another obvious reason: If they reported a stolen gun they were not legally eligible to possess, they would be in a position where local law requires them to incriminate themselves, that is, the City is presuming authority to override Constitutional Fifth Amendment protection.

On the plus side, I suppose anyone defying California's evil militia weapon ban could also claim similar immunity were their unregistered firearms stolen...

From the Same Folks Who Brought You Jim McGreevey

More "gun control"!

And why not?

The government-dependent mothers of those "17,000 gang members" they can't protect the sheeple from from will thank them for it. As will the sheeple themselves.

Let's see, 17 bills--that's one for each thousand gang members...I wonder what the magic ratio is before people realize the magic incantations not only don't work, but guarantee more of the same--all the while taking focus and draining energy away from finding sane and rational solutions?

If Bloomberg Can Break the Law, Why Can't We?

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joined with gun control advocates Monday to call for a city law requiring gun owners to report lost or stolen weapons.
California law gives the state preemption, meaning cities can't legally enact their own more restrictive measures.

That never stops them, of course, as evidenced by the San Francisco handgun ban.

And our lawless anti-gun courts and lawless anti-gun attorney general will probably let them get away with it.

It seems everyone is entitled to break laws not to their liking except us citizens.

A Portrait of Self Control

Jim McGreevey shockingly admits that before he became governor of New Jersey, he'd have anonymous gay sex at Garden State highway rest stops...
Nice control demonstrated there, Jimmer. No wonder you have such a sick compulsion to control others.

And look who agrees:
"New Jersey needs the proven leadership of Jim McGreevey to put the safety of our children and our families first."--Michael Barnes-Brady Campaign/Million Mom March
Again I recall some of my favorite lyrics:
He can't even run his own life
I'll be damned if he'll run mine...

"On My Worst Enemy"

Of course, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't wish the ATF on anyone, but for these sorts of anti-freedom operatives, I think it only right they get a dose of their own medicine, and in spades.
Ayup.

Blognomicon on Bloomberg

alandp has also been posting on the Bloomberg Conspiracy:

In "One of the Gun Dealers Speaks Up," we get another denial of wrongdoing by an accused dealer.

"On Bloomberg's Illegal Activities" reveals the claim:
NRA-iLA is pursuing the vagaries of the legal questions.
And "Bloomie Makes an Oopsie" includes his plea for the New York Daily News to quit being a shill and start acting like investigative reporters.

On a side note, he's also looking for pictures of famous women pipe smokers. Here's my favorite:

Hardy: BATFU Investigating Bloomberg "Sting Sales"

ATF has said they will be investigating every aspect of these "sting" sales (and there were ATF people present who repeated that). This may be bad news for the city, since IF the sales were illegal straw sales, their investigators committed felonies.

One gun was traced TWICE in NYC. The first time was for a crime, so it would have to have been confiscated. Only explanation for how it would later be on the street is that someone in NYC PD is selling seized guns on the street.
This is an interesting development, particularly the bit on how a gun apparently wandered away from the Only Ones' custody...Wonder if BATFU really has the guts and the administration backing to take on a billionaire Republican, though, and my gut says "no."

Prove me wrong--please.

It's not that I want to promote enforcement of existing laws. My goal in staying with this subject is primarily to expose hypocrisy and lawbreaking among those who think they're higher and better than sovereign citizens. That said, if Mikey or his minions take a fall on this, you'll see no tears shed here.

Gun Owner Asks Georgia AG to Investigate Bloomberg

May 22, 2006

Office of the Attorney General of Georgia
Mr. Thurbert E. Baker
40 Capitol Square, SW
Atlanta, GA 30334

Dear Mr. Baker:

As a resident and law-abiding gun owner of Georgia, I am outraged at the recent illegal straw gun purchases made by an “investigative team” assembled at the behest of Mayor Bloomberg of New York City.

Mayor Bloomberg continuously attacks the civil liberties of law-abiding gun owners in this country and has taken it upon himself to destroy these liberties by targeting gun stores throughout the country, including some stores in Georgia such as Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna. In order to gain publicity for his anti-gun campaign he knowingly conspired and planned illegal straw purchases at these gun stores and violated federal law as well as possible Georgia state laws. His attempts to entrap gun store owners and produce evidence of illegal gun sale procedures at these Georgia gun stores are despicable.

I ask: What is the authority of private individuals from New York to conspire to break, and then actually violate, federal gun purchase laws and the laws of other states?

Mayor Bloomberg’s out-of-touch viewpoints are a threat to all law-abiding gun owners in Georgia as well as law-abiding legitimate businesses in Georgia.

I urge you to launch an investigation into these illicit tactics that were performed to support Bloomberg’s frivolous lawsuits against these legitimate and law-abiding Georgia businesses.

Thank you for your attention into this matter.

Sincerely,

Jason Morin

Bloomberg Fraud Continues to Unravel

Farmer said improper sales, such as the ones that the undercover agents pulled off, happen frequently. If the buyer can produce valid identification, passes a background check and takes legal responsibility for the gun, the sale will go through, he said.

"It's the same scenario repeated many, many, many times," Farmer said. "Husbands buy guns for their wives, boyfriends buy for their girlfriends, fathers buy for their daughters."
This is pretty much what I expected to find: No crimes are being committed by the gun dealer's targeted in Bloomberg's "sting"--only routine procedures followed when one person gives another the gift of a gun.

Here's another account from a pawn shop in South Carolina:
The woman filled out papers registering the sale and signed a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives declaration saying she was the buyer and buying for someone else, he said.

Men routinely advise women on what guns to buy, Mickalis said, adding "I think they were specifically sent here to create a lawsuit."
It appears these dealers were following the book to conduct a legal sale in both instances. It wouldn't surprise me to find this chain of events repeat itself in all 15 of the instances Bloomberg would have us believe resulted in "illegal gun sales," where dealers knew the purchasers "would turn the weapons over to criminals."

Is someone intentionally lying here?

If any lawbreaking has occurred, it appears to have been within the Bloomberg "sting team" camp.

Was the federal gun purchase form falsified?

Were the "agents," that is, private investigators, that is, private citizens with no special privileges and immunities, residents of the states in which they made their purchases? If not, is this a violation of GCA '68, which prohibits, among other things, unlicensed individuals from acquiring handguns outside their state of residence?

Surprise, Surprise...

A congressman under investigation for bribery was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant whose conversations with the lawmaker also were recorded, according to a court document released Sunday. Agents later found the cash hidden in his freezer.

At one audiotaped meeting, Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., chuckles about writing in code to keep secret what the government contends was his corrupt role in getting his children a cut of a communications company's deal for work in Africa.
I have a hard time believing a Louisiana politician would ever involve himself in anything not on the up and up.

Just for yucks, whenever anything like this comes up, I like to check where these folks stand on RKBA. Here's Jefferson's GOA rating:

Nobody's surprised, I trust...

It's All About Headlines

Instead, the headline-hunting Bloomberg launched a civil lawsuit in what should be, if he is to be believed, a criminal action.

There's a reason for that. The private investigators New York hired to conduct this sting must have made deliberately false statements on federal firearms purchase forms. That's a felony. They should be prosecuted. If Bloomberg sent them to do this, he's an accessory, if not a conspirator.

Church Shooter Finds Defenseless Prey the Easiest Kind

Police on Sunday captured the man who allegedly opened fire and killed four people during services at a Louisiana church and later fatally shot his wife after abducting her and their infant, officials said.
There are some who say guns have no place in churches.

They're the same ones who would be absolutely useless in a situation requiring self defense, but who are nonetheless gearing up for their latest blood dance.

This isn't the first time we've seen church members helpless because they were disarmed and their attacker was not. I'm reminded of Woody Allen's line:
"The lion and the lamb shall lie down together, but the lamb won't get much sleep."
I'm also reminded of a 1747 Philadelphia sermon:
"He that suffers his life to be taken from him by one who has no authority for that purpose, when he might preserve it by defense, incurs the Guilt of self murder since God has enjoined him to seek the continuance of his life, and Nature itself teaches every creature to defend [it]self."

On this day in 1781, Major General Nathanael Greene and 1,000 Patriots attempt an attack on the critical village of Ninety-Six in the South Carolina backcountry. After failing to seize the fortified settlement, they began a siege of it, which lasted until their retreat on June 18, making it the longest of the War for Independence.

Did Bloomberg's Boobs Screw Up Investigations While Violating Law?

Mayor Bloomberg's decision to hire private investigators to conduct undercover stings at Southern gun shops has potentially jeopardized several criminal cases, law enforcement sources charged.
That's pathetically funny. Still, it misses a key point I have been harping on, but don't expect to see "authorized journalists" even hint at, let alone investigate: If Bloomberg's team broke the law in their publicity stunt, they committed multiple criminal acts for which "ordinary citizens" WOULD HAVE THEIR LIVES DESTROYED if they were caught in just one infraction. If they knowingly did this, it is a criminal conspiracy, with Mikey being the criminal mastermind.

The papers are quick to raise the shrill term "illegal gun purchases," but were they? Were the purchases conducted where it is legal to buy a gun for a relative, in which case this is all just a cheap publicity stunt aimed at ginning up public hysteria, or did someone on the "sting" team actually lie on a federal form? As Project Safe Neighborhoods reminds us:
If you buy a gun for someone else and lie on the federal form about who the gun is for, you have committed a federal crime.
Another New York Daily News "story" tells us:
The city hired the James Mintz Group, a private investigation firm, to conduct sting operations in gun stores in Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.
And who makes up the James Mintz Group?
[M]ore than twenty-five experienced investigators, including former investigative reporters, federal investigators and prosecutors.
It's not a stretch to conclude they're people who should know better than to break the law.

Jim Mintz himself certainly does. Hell, he can even flowchart the process (if there's ink in it for him). So if he's overseeing the commission of federal "gun felonies", he's doing so with special contempt for the law.

Back to the Daily News:
"Our opponents never tire of telling us that we ought to be going after the people who break the law with guns," Bloomberg said yesterday at City Hall, flanked by Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and city Corporation Counsel Michael Cardozo. "Well, okay, you ask for something, you got it."
That's what I'm asking for, Mike. Not that I think anyone of the ruling elites or their enforcers will give it to me.

Here's something else I'm asking for: Right now, these questions are relegated to this obscure blog. If you think it's important for gun owners to get honest answers, join me in demanding them.

If you have your own site, investigate it yourself and blog about it. If not, write to "establishment" news outlets and ask them why they're not looking into this. It will only take you a few moments. If you don't, this will be swept under the rug, and Bloomberg and Co. will continue their relentless, freedom-hating assault against ourselves and our posterity.

2A Saturday

Free Constitution does a recap of past Saturdays--and reminds of of next week's carnival.

The "No Guns in Mexico" sign could well be a warning of things to come in this country.

Word, G

A quarrel over a rap performance between the rivaling “Hit Squad” and “Southside Mafia” led up to the park gunfight about a week later that killed 4-year-old Travon Wilson...
See? SEE?

This is why we need "gun control"!

This is why we need to disarm you and me!

That's basically the Brady argument, you know.

"New Cell Phone Guns"

Law enforcement and authorities at government buildings are being warned to be on the lookout for guns disguised as cell phones that are difficult to spot in metal detectors, according to a Local 6 News report. [More]
Thanks to Local6 News for their heads-up reporting on this emerging menace.

What?

The "new cellphone gun" story was reported six years ago?

Well, hey, at least Local 6 reveals to us for the first time that "police officers will become increasingly suspicious."

What do you mean that's not news either?

United 93 Brought Down by Gun Control Laws

At the point when the passengers realized they were on a suicide mission, they quietly asked the flight attendants for help in scrounging knives, hammers, screwdrivers, weapons of any kind, from the galley. Only a true gun rights patriot will recognize this series of fatal events. Thus we all owe it to our families and friends to make them aware of these outcomes. I have not read any mention of this element by any movie reviewer. It completely went by them.
This is the reason why I decided I wasn't going to see this movie. I read reports of theater-goers weeping, and being moved, etc., blah, blah, baaaa.

Good Lord. There would have been no 9/11 if this country wasn't insane with dependency.

It's criminal that the memorable slogan of the day wasn't "Let's rack" instead of "Let's roll".

This Day in History: May 20

On this day in 1778, British forces from Philadelphia attempt to trap 2,200 Continentals defending Valley Forge led by Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette, through skillful maneuvering, avoids the entrapment and the destruction of his forces. The encounter takes place at Barren Hill, now known as Lafayette Hill, just northwest of Philadelphia.
I'm sure those who sacrificed their all for Liberty would be proud, damned proud, of their beneficiaries.

No?

We're the Only Ones Snowed Out Enough

A New York City police officer has been indicted on charges that she conspired to steal cocaine from drug stash houses in Manhattan.
Another one of Bloomberg's finest. Just don't lift a finger against her unless you want your "life on the line"...or in this case, "lines".

Hyenas Killing People in Africa

Marauding hyenas have mauled to death four people and wounded three in the latest attack by the animals roaming the Somali enclave of Somaliland...So brazen have the predators become that local men are sleeping with guns to protect their families...
Sounds like they need "small arms control" courtesy of the hyenas of IANSA...

Oops, She Did it Again...

Immediately after the incident an agitated Spears said, "This is why I need a gun," seemingly referring to having to battle her way through the crowd.
You want to shoot your fans, Britney, the people who made you rich and famous? No wonder you're a vocal public advocate for disarming them.

From "A Judgment Call" (GUNS Magazine, March 2005):
Gun control advocate Britney Spears annulled her quickie Vegas marriage within hours on the grounds that she "lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to marriage." Nine months later her understanding had evidently ripened, because, oops, she did it again, marrying a backup dancer who had fathered a two-year-old and a newborn with another woman.

Based on her support of an "Open Letter to the NRA," it is Britney's opinion that a host of additional gun restrictions should be enacted. After all, you may not have the mature judgment to safely possess guns.

Open Inquiry to BATFU: The Bloomberg Conspiracy

Investigators in New York City made illegal gun purchases in five states as part of an undercover investigation...
And again I ask: What is the authority of private individuals from New York to conspire to break, and then actually violate, federal gun purchase laws and the laws of other states?

Where is the investigation? Where are the indictments? Or are only private individuals in Bloomberg's conspiracy shielded from prosecution, whereas "ordinary" private individuals would have their lives destroyed if caught making "illegal gun purchases"?

Are laws actually being broken, or is this just [more] media hyperbole? If they are, how come you're letting them get away with it? And what do you call a system where criminals rule?

Belgians to License Rights

MPs in the Belgian Parliament voted almost unanimously in favour on Thursday night of new tighter gun control laws...

The law will change existing regulations in which any adult with identification can buy a gun over the counter without a permit.

But in future, anyone who wants to buy a weapon will be subject to police screening and will need to obtain a gun licence first.

Passage of the legislation through parliament was accelerated after a double murder in Antwerp last week...
One animal goes nuts and the "solution" is to harass all who controlled themselves.

We're the Only Ones and You're Not

An Allentown police officer has been suspended with pay after he shot another police officer in the arm with a pellet gun inside the police station Saturday, according to a statement released Wednesday by police Chief Roger MacLean...

Police withheld the names of the officers involved pending the outcome of an internal investigation and would not release the incident report...
Suspended with pay, name and report kept confidential...Yeah, you and me could expect the same treatment if we shot a cop with a pellet gun.

No doubt about it.

Alligator Problem? Call Tom Lyons

I mean, heck, the gator was barely 3 feet long, if that.

Though Frey is disabled and uses a cane to get around, she wouldn't expect to lose a fight to the death with a gator that small.
All it needs to do is sever an artery and she could have bled to death, Tom. Why on earth would a human choose to "fight to the death" with an animal, when we have tools that can give us instant mastery of the situation?

And you know what, Tom? Golden retrievers aren't small dogs. They instinctively know how to hunt, and this one was reluctant to attack. What did a dog know that you apparently don't, sitting in witless, smug judgment in your cubicle?

As for calling instead of defending herself, three women have been killed by alligators in the past week, and the hotline is "swamped." But you're one of those "Dial 911" types, aren't you, Tom? So I'm sure you won't mind pointing out to your readers the Florida law that makes state wildlife officers liable if they fail to protect a citizen's life?

What, you can't? They have no legal duty to do this, with consequences should they fail?

And what about if she had run away to call and the reptile had snatched a toddler?

Some of us won't cede our birthright to animals, Tom, including the 2-legged kind.

Tell you what, you self-impressed snot: Let's see you go after a 3-foot aggressive gator barehanded. Or better yet, a 2-foot possum, or a 1-foot rat.

I mean, heck, working at a major newspaper, you shouldn't have any problem finding large rats...

Canadians OK With Scrapping Gun Registry?

Many adults in Canada think the federal government should do away with a highly controversial program, according to a poll by Ipsos-Reid released by CanWest Global. 54 per cent of respondents say the gun registry is badly organized, is not working properly, and should be scrapped.
Now hold the phone just a damned minute here. I posted on this a few days ago, and the results being touted by the National Post quoted the Ispos-Reid VP stating:
The concept of a gun registry has taken root across the country. There's a majority, 67 per cent, that's not a small majority, who believe that Stephen Harper shouldn't be doing away with all gun registries.
I think the most salient observation on this came from Jay in the "Comments" section, who noted:
If memory serves, a majority of Canadians said "screw you" at the ballot box to ex-Prime Minister Paul Martin and the Liberal Party. To me, that is a much more convincing opinion poll.
Agreed.

Gun Not Good Enough for "Only Ones"

When a bullet exploded through her living room's bay window less than 10 feet from her, the initial response of a startled Elise Nakhnihian was to find the projectile.

Her husband, Steven Gittelson, had another idea: Stay out of sight and call the cops...

The couple couldn't have imagined that it was a Princeton Borough police officer's bullet that rocketed into their stately Governors Lane condominium...The shooting was the result of an allegedly malfunctioning rifle that discharged the bullet at the police firearms training range on River Road in the township without the officer who was holding the weapon even pulling the trigger, borough and township police said yesterday.
Just as I suspected. It's the gun's fault.

Of Course

Saying more than half of all firearms used in street crimes come from 1 percent of licensed gun dealers, Attorney General Bill Lockyer joined gun control advocates Tuesday in a campaign to crack down on gun trafficking.
California, of course, has all of the "reasonable gun control laws" the antis clamor for in other states. But they're not enough. They're never enough.

Lockyer, of course, says you have no right to keep and bear arms, and is backed up by both the state Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

And the gutless US Supreme Court, of course, keeps ducking the issue, despite a clear conflict between federal courts.

Just a Question...

Where was Mike Bloomberg's Straw Purchase Squad when Sarah Brady bought her son that "sniper rifle"?

Turnabout Being Fair Play and All...

The pathetic wretches at Gunguys thought it would be cool to post NRA's tax return and compensation for key executives.

OK. Two can play that game.

Gunguys is part of the Orwellian-named "Freedom States Alliance."

The hoplophobe in the lead story photo on the FSA website is Thom Mannard, Executive Director of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence.

Here is a comparable section from their 2004 tax return:

An interesting sidenote: Despite clear legislative advocacy, these folks claim tax exemption as a 501(c)(3) organization, that is, contributions are deductible.

Hmmm...

This is kinda fun! Shall we continue to play?

A Bloomberg Conspiracy to Violate Federal Gun Laws?

The city hired undercover private investigators who, in teams of two, attempted "straw purchasing," where a convicted felon or someone who does not want a gun traced to him will use a friend or family member to pass a background check. Then the gun gets handed over to the suspicious person.
So if a municipality retains a private individual, he is somehow authorized to break federal law against "straw purchases"? If not, and since this appears to be an admission of a federal felony, where are the charges? And if these private investigators are breaking federal law under instruction from the Bloomberg administration, does that not make this a criminal conspiracy?

Oscar Poppa...

...has a new look and a new home.

Check it out and update your blogrolls and/or daily site visits accordingly.

A Good First Step

Why looky here:
Clamping down on straw purchases would stem the flow of illegal guns into the city.

A good first step would be to enact a state law limiting handgun purchases to one a month per buyer.
And what did our good pal Tom Ferrick Jr. have to say about "straw purchases"?
No one is pretending that this one-handgun-a-month ban is the cure-all, but it is a start.
This is actually a dusting off of an old argument. I first wrote about it seven years ago, in "Smart Guns–-Dumb Lawsuits":
But for the gun controllers, that's not all bad-- because based on results, each tragedy provides a new opportunity to exploit, a new press conference to hold, a new law to enact, or a new lawsuit to file. They'll propose further restrictions under the bald-faced pretense that it's "a good first step." They won't tell you that there are already over 20,000 gun laws on the books at the federal, state and municipal level that are consistently ignored by all but the law-abiding.

"A good first step...…" the clueless segment of our victim pool populace will drone back at the proposal of law number 20,001.
A good first step to ensuring this lie will be a non-starter is to be aware that it's being employed--and to expose it as a coordinated talking point whenever it is used.

Defer to the Brainwashed, Poll Concludes

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will have a tough time convincing Canadians it's time to completely scrap the country's expensive gun registry program, a new opinion poll suggests...

The poll of 1,001 Canadians was conducted May 9 to May 11, with a 3.1 percentage point margin of error, 19 times out of 20...

The support is strongest in Ontario and Quebec where 71 per cent and 76 per cent of respondents respectively said they were in favour of maintaining a gun control system.
What a surpruse. Urban constituents, that is, liberals, want more gun control. And we all know how individual rights ought to be defined by the majority--particularly a majority addicted to government influence and control in all aspects of their lives.

In a related poll, a majority of sheep prefer grass...

We're the Only Ones...Hey, Has Anybody Seen My...

A gun that was apparently stolen from a New Haven police detective was used in a December shooting, according to records obtained by the New Haven Register.
So much for useful idiot Tom Ferrick Jr's. contention that keeping guns away from you and me--and giving special advantage to the police at the expense of the people--will cut "gun violence."

[More from "The Only Ones" files...]

On Cutting "Gun Violence"

Politicians against gun control are to blame for violence committed by reptiles? I guess that's easier to sell than the truth: that mad dogs are the inevitable result of the socialist incubator useful idiot Tom Ferrick Jr. and his ilk demand.

This would be easy to fisk if it wasn't so damned difficult to stomach this police state apologist's loathsome opinions. How does someone become this bent?

The liar calls one-gun-a-month schemes "a start"--as if "gun control" in Philadelphia is a virgin subject that's never been tried before.

There can be no peace between us. He and his kind won't allow it.

Molon labe, Tom, you despicable wretch.

You can't take back your words. If history recalls you at all, it will be as an obscure collaborator and enemy of freedom.

2nd Amendment Saturday

Failure to adhere to the Constitution, through suppression of an enumerated right, whether by law, law enforcement's abuse of ambiguous policy, intellectual dishonesty among the judiciary and legislative branches, abuse of emergency situations to further an agenda, and radical misinterpretations of the word People and Infringed, in a better world, would be followed by petitions, and possible litigation thus resulting in the empirical recognition of such right.
Free Constitution presents his weekly offering.

Bring in the Mounties!

The federal government has launched a probe to find out who leaked details from an auditor general's report.

The New Democrats say that's not good enough and want the Mounties to investigate.
See, the issue isn't that government wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on a bureaucratic boondoggle that only punishes the law-abiding. The issue isn't that contractor improprieties point to corruption and cronyism. The issue isn't even that criminals have stolen firearms from targeted list victims.

The issue is somebody told the people about these outrages.

Gestapo Gun Laws

Most upsetting are incidents like the one in Paarl where a robber was arrested and a firearm seized. It was found the gun had been handed in to the police by its legal owner and had subsequently ended up in criminal hands.
Here's a South African who truly gets it. Great letter.

So Much For the Gun Registry...

We Want the Right to Be Tyrants

"What I’m going to try mostly to do is convince the legislature to let Philadelphia have the right to pass its own gun laws. We had that, when I was mayor, up until 1996 – then they took it away from us. I’d like them to give us that right back," Rendell said.
Translation: We want government to have the right to eradicate individual rights.

And here I thought Rendell was our pal.

Shots Aren't Preceded By "Dear"

Wyoming is suing the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, saying the agency is relying on a technicality to refuse the right to bear arms to state residents who have misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence...

A Question for the "Pragmatists"

McCain told Imus that he would, if necessary, sacrifice ``quote First Amendment rights'' to achieve ``clean'' government. If on Jan. 20, 2009, he were to swear to defend the Constitution, would he be thinking that the oath refers only to ``the quote Constitution''? And what would that mean?

This Day in History: May 10

On this day in 1775, Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold lead a successful attack on Fort Ticonderoga in upstate New York, while the Second Continental Congress assembles in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

My Next Car

Russia's biggest carmaker plans to make a high-tech version of the Soviet-era Lada car that will be named after the creator of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Vedomosti business daily said.

"We will probably work... to create a military jeep," said the head of arms trader Rosoboronexport, Sergei Chemezov, quoted by the paper...

Vedomosti suggested the new car could be Russia's answer to the United States' Hummer, a vehicle originally designed for army use that is now a rich city-dweller's status symbol and is increasingly popular on the streets of Moscow.
Right after I win the lottery...

Tragedy and Justice

The father of a three-year-old Detroit boy who fatally shot himself in the head has been charged with second-degree child abuse...a 4-year felony.
Tragic. If you're a moral and rational person, I don't think there's any punishment that could be meted out that would be worse than the knowledge that your actions led to such a result. I'm not saying their shouldn't be legal consequences, but just think life would be literal hell and those consequences would pale against the guilt.

I don't normally post these types of stories. A week and a half ago, a few contributors sent me a link for "The Only Ones" files: a story about the New York police official's son who killed himself with his father's negligently stored pistol. My reply as to why I didn't want to post on that incident:

Yeah, I saw this last night and decided not to do an "only ones" feature on it just because of the nature of the poor kid and the horror his parents must be going through--maybe I'm copping out, but I wouldn't wish this hell on my worst enemy, and I've accused the other side of dancing in blood at tragedies--I just can't bring myself to use this story to my advantage.
I still feel that way. The only reason I bring it up here is to note that under similar circumstances, I see a citizen facing 4-year charges, but not the cop.

State Secrets

The names of those packing heat in Florida should not be a state secret.
Boy, I wish I wasn't in a hurry to get to another 14 hour work day--these morons really deserve a good fisking, they are just so wrong on so many counts.

Example:
In other years, gun supporters have argued that the knowledge that someone had a permit to carry a concealed weapon would be a deterrent to crime. Now they have reversed themselves, contending that keeping concealed weapons permits as public records makes the gun owners vulnerable to attack or harassment.
No, the argument has always been the knowledge that someone is likely to be armed in a given situation is what has been presented as a deterrent. Knowing specifically who eliminates the uncertainty factor and identifies a target.

It's yet another reason why I think whether or not you're carrying should be a personal secret, not a state one.

We're the Only Ones Cleared Enough

The police officer said he had met Alice less than an hour earlier when he found her walking along a road. He said he gave her a lift as she appeared "agitated and drunk".

The officer said he was running out of fuel and went to a cash machine to get money to buy petrol.

He said that on returning to the car he drove a short distance when Alice shot herself with his gun, which had been lying in the car.
What, you're not supposed to leave a loaded gun next to an "agitated and drunk" teenage girl you picked up--I mean, gave a helpful ride to--off the street?

Good call by that police ombudsman, that there's no evidence this was "anything other than a tragic accident". I hope the girl's family that went to her with their dispute is satisfied with the fox's henhouse investigation.
