Memorial Day GRE Round Up

I've been doing minimal posting over the three-day weekend because I have a lot of family activities going on, so I haven't been keeping up with bringing you links to my fellow Gun Rights Examiners. Here's what's been posted since my last Round Up:

Paul Valone/Charlotte:
Gun boycott of Marriott to be featured on Tom Gresham's 'Gun Talk' (You can listen to that interview here. His discussion takes place in the second half of the segment.)

Dan Bidstrup/Denver:
Mayor Daley sees what he wants to see

Liston Matthews/Knoxville:
Self-defense, or murder?

John Longenecker/Los Angeles:
Safer Streets 2010: Element Ten to the CPR Corollary, Part I.

Memorial Day, 2010 and Election Day, 2010.

Dave Workman/Seattle:
Wednesday is your chance to quiz SPD’s top cop candidates

Kurt Hofmann/St.Louis:
Brady Campaign compares state determination of gun laws to crack cocaine

Gun-grabbing Senate candidate Mark Kirk also grabs unearned military honors

I do hope you realize the importance of sharing these links and show these guys your support by doing so...?

Memorial

As with many families, I'll be keeping the men in mine who served, sacrificed and are no longer with us in my thoughts and prayers today.

Two in particular stand out for me:

Uncle George and Uncle Nick.

Why Did ATF Suddenly Redefine Firearm Transfers?

It's not like we haven't seen arbitrary rulings and reversals before. Can anyone say for certain they know how ATF will treat past accepted practices under this new ruling, and if the interpretation will be the same a week, a month, a year from now...? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at rule-making by decree. I guess it's more convenient to do it this way.

CNN's ATF Investigation Glaringly Incomplete

Excuse me if I point out that the entire focus of CNN's "exposé" was on internal conflicts and alleged abuses by ATF against its own employees. None of it addressed ATF abuses against citizens. [More]

This Day in History: May 30

The Battle of Cobleskill (also known as the Cobleskill massacre) was an American Revolutionary War raid on the frontier settlement of Cobleskill, New York on May 30, 1778. The battle marked the beginning of a phase in which Loyalists and Iroquois, encouraged and supplied by British authorities in Province of Quebec, raided and destroyed numerous villages on what was then the United States western frontier of New York and Pennsylvania. GRE Round Up for May 28

There's some good stuff being turned out by the Gun Rights Examiners. I hope you're availing yourself of it, and importantly, sharing these links via emails, on blogs and forums, with your local newspaper editor, etc.

A common complaint is media bias and absence of representation for "our side."

These people work hard to change that and ask for nothing from those of us their labors serve other than to help spread the word. I hope no one thinks that's too much to ask.

Here are their latest offerings:

Paul Valone/Charlotte:
Will Brownells lead in reforming Marriott anti-gun policies?

Daniel White/Cleveland:
Restaurant Carry passes Senate, heads to House

Dan Bidstrup/Denver:
Liston Matthews/Knoxville:
NRA 2010 convention in Charlotte, Part IV: Miscellany*

John Longenecker/Los Angeles:
Safer Streets 2010: America Speaking Out is still not listening.

Dave Workman/Seattle:
Vets protected us, let’s protect their Second Amendment rights

Kurt Hofmann/St. Louis:
Mayor Daley: 'Guns is not the answer'

Go. Read. And please share these links.
You're doing that, right?
Just no.

Say, gang, I've got a swell idea! Let's have government-"Authorized Journalists"!

We're the Only Ones Putting Guns ON the Street Enough

A gun, ammunition and several other items were stolen from a Knoxville Police Department investigator's unmarked cruiser...The items included the KPD sergeant's badge, .40-caliber service weapon, two full magazines, KPD ID card and other personal items... [More]
I hate it when that happens to me, don't you?

We're the Only Ones Teaching Kids Sportsmanship Enough

A 37-year-old Ohio police officer who has been on an extended medical leave, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a youth baseball coach...[More]
The few times in my career I've called in sick, I was too ill to even think about going to a ball game, let alone starring a fight with anyone. Plus, when I was helping coach my kids' teams, I always took the attitude we were there to help them develop, and owed them conduct and guidance worth modeling. It really wasn't all that difficult to behave.

By All Means, Scrutinize

OK, Bradys.

Let's compare the total population of gun owners and their "incidents" with the total population and incidents of these guys.

An Amicable Split

Firearms possession issue splits Finland [More]
I have the perfect solution and it couldn't be easier: Those of you who don't want guns, don't have guns. And leave those who do the hell alone.

The Reason is Obvious

The reason is obvious: Obama and his aides don't want to spark a backlash from the NRA and voters who cling to their guns—especially as Democrats ride toward a difficult mid-term election. [More]
True enough.

But if he gets a second term, Katy bar the door.

The antis and their "progressive" (that's Orwellian for "Marxist traitor") media allies are counting on everyone believing Obama doesn't want to take away guns. Of course he does.

Don't for a second believe otherwise, or that the Brady "F" was not calculated.

Great Expectations

Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen said Wednesday he expects lawmakers to once again override his veto of bill to allow handgun carry permit holders to bring weapons into bars and restaurants that serve alcohol. [More]
The true outrage is how we've come to expect this kind of contempt for our rights from so many A-rated endorsees.

We're the Only Ones Still Ticking Enough

Imagine being ordered by airport security workers to put your very expensive watch on a scanning belt, over your objections. Then imagine going to retrieve it and it’s gone. [More]
