We're the Only Ones Unidentified Enough
Some Virginia State Police troopers concealed their uniform name strips at Confederate rally, leading to questions [More]That's because they'd have probably looked silly in Frankenstein masks...

Where Dreams Come True
One Of The Vista Shooting Suspects Remained Free Despite Probation Violation Prior To The Shootout [More]Knowing that I will never have rap record label executives vouch for me on a "gun violence" charge, I'm wondering if there's a privilege inequity here...

We're the Only Ones Punished Enough
A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper will spend 10 days in jail for his role in the drowning death of a handcuffed Iowa man. In addition to the “shock time” in the Morgan County jail, Judge Roger Prokes sentenced Trooper Anthony Piercy to two years of supervised probation and ordered him to complete 50 hours of community service. Piercy will serve time in jail in five, two-day increments with his first stint scheduled to begin Friday. [More]Dang, that means unless they have a TV with ESPNU there, he'll miss Mizzou vs. Auburn on Saturday...

We're the Only Ones Inflammatory Enough
I'd submit that ownership of the night is something that could change overnight if enough are riled. [More]
At least temporary ownership.

And the Murder Weapon Was Licensed and Registered
Good Samaritan killed in robbery at North Las Vegas convenience store [More]Think before intervening. Are you equipped and prepared if things get hinky? Is it worth it?
When they find this animal slob -- and they will, because surveillance cams caught her and her car -- my money says there'll be a similar political profile to Poopergirl.

Survey SAYS...
In case you were wondering how they figure 94% of everybody and 92% of gun owners want "background checks"... [More]
Vindicated
Years ago, probably around '83 or '84, I went to a sci-fi convention in San Diego, and they had a Star Trek panel that was taking audience questions.
I stood up and told them I'd caught a still in the ending credits that showed a pink-skinned bald alien and that I did not remember the character or that shot from any episode. I asked what that was about.
Not only did no one know what I was talking about, including no chiming in from an audience of hundreds of assorted fans, but my kid brother was mortified that making my delusion public embarrassed him by association. That response was understandable in no small part due to looks of disapproval from some nearby nerds whose IQs were probably at least half their body weight -- which if you think about it is impressive.
I got a call and then an apology text from my brother last night -- he was rewatching "The Immunity Syndrome" episode and saw the still for himself, and the memory came flooding back to him.
I wasn't crazy, at least not about that. So I'll ask again -- anybody know what this is about? Because what I was thinking at the time was "lost episode," or at least parts of one that never made it through production. If it could be reconstructed, it would have some $eriou$ value to a crowd that I personally witnessed bid a pair of Mr. Spock's foam rubber ear tips -- certified worn by Leonard Nimoy -- up over a thousand bucks.
Anybody know?
And as long as I'm talking money, The LA Times included a package of promotional microwave popcorn as an insert in its Sunday paper at the time Star Trek Voyager was premiering. Recalling the ear tips, I figured most people would eat theirs and put mine away:
Cellophane wrap aside, I'm sure it would be rancid. Regardless, I wonder how many are still around and what collectors would bid this up to.
UPDATE:
Ah look!

Dear Dianne
Urge your Senators to support the Paul proposal -- an amendment that will gut the anti-gun aspects of ObamaCare. [More]And if my Senators are named Feinstein or Schumer or...? Aside from giving them a good laugh when they see how solidly entrenched they are, what does the effort produce?
Time and again I've seen gun owners in "blue states" just shine these alerts on because they've concluded -- in their case -- they're a waste of time.
There ought to be a way to more productively direct such appeals. Since what the Congress does affects us all, why shouldn't I be able to make my views -- and potential $upport or opposition -- known to those who are persuadable, and who "represent" other districts and states?
I'd use this as a starting point, and not waste my time on any politician with less than a "C" rating. Be nice if there were a utility to help with that.
You'll Put Your Eye Out, Kid
The case report details three unrelated cases within three months... [More]Dang, a whole spate!
How many Nerf guns are out there again...?
Something must be done! For the children!
Y'know, if we were all in straitjackets and padded cells, stuff like this would never happen.

Focus on Chicago Gangs and ‘Assault Weapons’ Reanimates Old Gun Ban Tactic

The Bottom Line
I hope this beast is publicly identified, because I have a feeling she'll prove to be full of sh!+ about a lot of things. [More]
A Divisive Mentality
“They keep talking about a wall. But the enemy is this divisive mentality. It’s on this side of the wall… The white nationalists are walking towards your future. What you gonna do?” [More]With "progressives," every day is Opposite Day. The true threat divisive mentality is the one that seeks to Balkanize.
The question should be "Why?"
