On January 8th, the Libertarian Party’s most recent presidential candidate Bob Barr sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee encouraging the “swift and positive” confirmation of Eric Holder, President-Elect Obama’s choice for Attorney General. Barr had only positive things to say about Holder, who he has worked with in the past during his years as a United States Attorney and Congressman serving on the House Judiciary Committee.[More]I told you Bob Barr is a weasel.
Read this letter and gag.
"...professional pride and personal pleasure..."
Good grief. Seriously, gag.
What a wonderful testimonial from a former NRA Director and Libertarian Party presidential candidate.

Our political system is at a "perfect storm" of arrogance, contempt, and power-lust.
But as Mike V says, when it turns to tyranny I still get to vote...
Barr is a moron. Always has been - always will be.
Anyone who takes him seriously (as a competent legislator) is also a moron.
No surprise from barr or the nra, both weasels. It is still a surprise that the Libertarians put him up, guess they have joined the r's and d's as part of the problem.
I didn't vote for Barr because of his wishy washy RINO ways.
Barr is no libertarian. Not now, not ever, IMO.
Bob may talk the talk, but he certainly doesn't walk the walk.
You gotta be f'n kidding me:
However, I never had reason to question his personal and professional integrity, or his deep understanding of and commitment to our Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights.
His commitment to destroying them, maybe.
Bob Barr's candidacy on the Libertarian ticket only goes to show just how far the Party has descended into irrelevance.
There is a BIG difference between being a libertarian (little 'l') and a Libertarian (big 'L').
I am a libertarian, but in NO WAY WHATSOEVER am I a Libertarian.
Barr's endorsement of Holder is just one more example of the vast disconnect between his supposed political philosophy, and his words and deeds.
Barr is hoping for some kind of hand out or reward and is too stupid to understand that the Clintons hate him. Look Hillary has the goods on Obama not being born in the US. She could not spill on this and come forth with the proof. That would destroy any hope in getting the black vote. So she had to blackmail him into allowing her to run the white house behind closed doors. Obama is picking the very group of people that Hillary would have picked because he has no choice. Fact of the matter is after he's in she's going to pull the rug out from him. She will get to become VP and Joe better learn to sleep with one eye open.
Nevertheless, Barr is such a slime ball that he's sucking up to Holder and Obama because he needs a job and a little power. As far as the LP goes, they are done.
Shoulda voted for me! ;)
Kent Anarchists don't vote... sorry man.
I liked Bob Barr as a Republican with some libertarian leanings. But as a libertarian with strong Republican leanings, what a stinker!
I wasn't trying to get the anarchists to vote for me, just the people who really wanted to vote for someone who would have protected their gun rights from government thugs.
OK Mac you're on for 2012 and have my vote. Just make sure David has buttons we can get through this blog being you announced it here and not on Larry King's show.
It's a bitter shame that the L. Neil Smith (or, in fact, the Kent McManigal) branch of the Libertarian party has been crushed by those Libertarians who insist, basically, we need to water down our beliefs to make them more "appealing to the mainstream."
Basically, the Libertarian party is being killed by "Libertarian" prags, just as the Republican party is being killed by "Republican" prags.
Will we tolerate the same happening to us, as gun owners?
Will we tolerate the same happening to us, as gun owners?
Yes many already have, its called supporting the NRA.
Eric Holder HUGGED Janet Reno. You can't do that and also embrace constitutional principles. They are polar opposites.
But if it's not him, it will be his ideological twin. The political climate today requires it.
We have one friend in all of DC, it seems, and his name is Ron Paul. Remember that the big-L Libertarians - third-largest party imn America - abandoned him for someone "electable": Bob Barr, they thought. Liberals hated Barr for being a Republican. Republicans hated him for going third-party. Small-L libertarians knew he wasn't one of them. He and the Green, Reform and other 3P candidates COMBINED got 4% of the votes cast.
Now Barr simpers and whines for the scraps from Longshanks' table.
If you've ever said "There's NO SUCH THING as "reasonable restrictions" when talking about other people's rights as well as yours, you could be a libertarian. The movement seems to have peaked around, oh, 1790, with another spike around 1965.
