'Future Weapons' No Solution for 'Friendly Fire'

Take out a cop and you can now "pinpoint" where the others are. Want to find out who the undercover guy is (remember, all officers involved in this latest shooting were in plain clothes)? Easy, he's the one with the tricked out future weapon. And it's not like uniformed officers ever have need for stealth--why not force them to use guns that emit audible and visible signals? [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at the latest ridiculous proposal by NYPD.

I guess the brass figure they can divert the idiot media's attention span from looking at human operators for things like training and profile-based assumptions.

Also get the latest from my fellow GREs.

Any technology that can turn a gun off is a liability. Any technology that can broadcast a signal to turn a gun off can be high jacked, jammed, etc.

So, in the case of cops being forced to use it - I'm all for it.

Think I will hold onto the guns I have which are without that sort of thing.

Cellular telephone jamming is illegal in the USA, but guess what? There is a box "available" using 8AA batteries that makes a bus full of cellular-yellers say things like "are you still there...." and try to dial back. Push the button again and they are cut off again. After a few times, they feel the need to buy a more expensive phone or switch to the "can you hear me now?" --sssssssshh-nkt--- company.

We'll come up with a system to make guns with "safety" equipment not fire by our remote control. Imagine the effect on morale of Federales forced to use such toys....

pdxr13, don't be goofy, the cops will be exempt from that crap. We are not dealing with stupid people. We are dealing with evil people. They know exactly what they are doing and any advantage they can legislate for their mechanically armed, non-electronic safe gun armed enforcers, they will.
