Huh. Makes you wonder whose kid he was doing.
I saw a story on this that had a little more detail and named the dead officer.

It seems that there was supposed to be a clear and present danger to citizens that prevented the arresting officers from arresting the alleged sex offender in any place or circumstance other than while he was on the job and armed.
Probably taking a cue from ATF and their Waco fiasco.

At least we have evidence of the thought-to-be-extinct 'good cop.' Someone actually trying to apply the law equally, regardless of the badge.
