There exists dash cam video from at least one of the involved police cars; I wonder if any audio survived.

Multiple news stories indicate that Chris' Jeep was pulled over for an obstructed plate. Police claim that notes found on Chris' computer indicate an interest in intentionally placing mud over a license plate.

San Franciso in particular, and likely surrounding areas, has been expanding the use of Automated License Plate Reader cameras, which essentially track and record the location of all vehicles in the system constantly and keep the past records indefinitely.
