Ever heard of support? Besides the fact that a majority of the military would not follow those orders, those tanks need things. Like fuel. A tank or jet fighter without fuel, maintenance etc. is just a lump of metal. Take away support and you effectively take away the threat.

Some people have no idea how that stuff works. The movies they watch hardly ever show the tank pulling into a gas station. I guess they think they will run forever. They don't consider how much ammo they can carry either. It's not really all that much.
