Florida City police spokesman Officer Ken Armenteros defended the officer’s actions. “We don’t have the luxury of hind sight,” Armenteros told WPLG. “We have to use the information that is given to us in a split second. So, the officer has to make that decision with the information that he has available.” [More]Seems they could apply that rationalization to more than dogs.

Well, there weren't any four-year-old girls around, and he just had to shoot something... and of course we don't know the officer's name.
The dog MIGHT have done something undesirable if it was not shot immediately.
Apply that type of logic to your own everyday life and see what happens.
