I’m prepared to discover that this article was written by some dipshit urinalist at the Post who doesn’t know accounting from accordions. You can see a definite subtext all through the article that conflates the NRA with the NRA/ILA — which are two different corporations entirely. Yes, the NRA doesn’t indulge in lobbying — it can’t, it’s 501(c)4. Lobbying is the job of the NRA/ILA. The NRA has members; the NRA/ILA does not have members. The two organizations file different tax returns. Dollars to donuts that this Math Class Barbie doesn’t understand any of this, and has his own taxes done for him by H&R Block because they’re just too difficult.
Sorry, it would have been a great scoop if that were so, but alas-- check the bottom of page 2 on the NRA 990. Also, Chris Cox's comp is listed in Part VII. And there is no separate ILA filing on Guidestar.
