I saw a story about the alleged California shooter where the cops, responding to reports of gun fire, didn't do anything because they knocked and he wouldn't answer the door. We know how that turned out. I guess when you want to enact wanton destruction, you want to ensure you can do it and get home at the end of your shift.
I really can't fathom how anyone thought this was the right course of action. But I don't have the brain of an only one. And I don't know beforehand that I can do whatever I want and get away with it because authoritah!
