I know that no one pays attention to the 9th and 10th amendments, but maybe they ought to?
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Mind you, this is AWR Hawkins.
Perhaps there ought to be a course in Natural Law 101; the first being these rights are God-Given.
