Probably should be "wished" instead of "believed".
Or more like, "The purported evidence, on closer examination, folded up like a KGB suit.
I wonder if they'd be interested in buying a dossier?
In other news today, the Biden Administration has announced a new director for the federal Department of Justice. The nominee, Miss Emily Litella, brings to the DOJ a lifetime of experience in adjudicating cases of the sort the the bureau is expected to prosecute for the next four years. When asked about Miss Litella's specific qualifications, White House Press Secretary Jan Psaki said, "Never mind."
