The latest push to loosen gun laws in states across the U.S. has put police officers at odds with Republican lawmakers who usually trumpet support for law enforcement. [More]
Which illustrates exactly why the line "Most police officers support the Second Amendment" is unfounded wishful thinking.
If anybody wants to argue with that, I've got a way that you can try to prove me wrong. Simply walk up to a "pro-gun" cop and tell him you're peaceably carrying a firearm in purposeful noncompliance with infringements.

Police officers or Police Chiefs, who are political appointees.
For the purposes of my challenge, it doesn't matter.
After Katrina, anyone who is still awake has abandoned that line.
The line has now moved on to "Our military will support...", which is equally wishful and deluded.
Most police officers don't think about the 2nd amendment. They do think about the 4th amendment because it is very VERY heavily litigated and plays a major factor as to whether or not the charges they have brought against a suspect will stick or if they will win their case. There are classes many officers and most investigators are required to take specifically about search and seizure. If police officers and prosecuting DA's begin losing cases on 2nd amendment grounds they way they lose them on 4th amendment grounds, watch how quickly they become intimately familiar with the right to keep and bear.
