Rs have a chance, but I have no expectation that once erected they would do what needs doing.
The biggest threat to "our democracy" is the often overlooked fact that we don't have a democracy, never have, and hopefully never will. What we do have is a republic where certain facets operate in a semi-democratic way.
Now if you want to talk about the biggest threat to our republic, the biggest IMHO is that one of our major parties is hell bent on converting our republic into a democracy.
