Most Citizens Want Gun-Free SA

Most South Africans want the country to be gun-free, and for there to be harsher penalties for illegal gun ownership.
Hmmm...most citizens want a gun-free SF, too.

And government, particularly a "democracy," is just the vehicle to give 'em what they think they want.

A Compromise on the Right to Bear Arms We Can Live With?

Teddy Bears Have to Meet Consumer Health & Safety Standards...But Guns Don't!--Violence Policy Center

A paint firm here is hoping to add color to wedding receptions in Japan with a new device it has jointly developed -- a gun-shaped party cracker that shoots out a teddy bear.
I'm tempted to say "Go for it," but actually think free market insurance solutions would provide superior consumer protection standards against negligent bear discharge injuries. Besides, when bear guns are outlawed...

Yo, dude-san--finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot...

We're the Only Ones Enraged Enough

After knocking the phone away, McKinney and others said, Coffey put his police-issued Glock pistol to McKinney’s temple, pushing the teen’s head to the headrest.“He held the gun to Eric’s head for 30 or 45 seconds,” Josh Cox wrote,” screaming and cussing.”
Reason Engaged links to a story that will make your blood boil--especially if you're a parent.

T.I. 's G D.O.A.

A Georgia man who was a member of the entourage of best-selling Atlanta rapper T.I. was killed and three others were injured in a gun battle along Interstate 75 in Cincinnati early Wednesday that began as a fight in a suburban after-hours club, police said.
And they seemed like such nice young men...

Shameless Plug: Brazil Nuts

"People here fear the police and their guns more than they do the [drug] dealers," Rocinha, Brazil, slum dweller Denise do Espirito Santo told The Washington Post about the national referendum to ban private gun ownership.

"Brazil Nuts" is my Rights Watch column for the June issue of GUNS Magazine, on sale now at non-seedy newsstands throughout the Republic.

BONUS: See page 100 to find out how you can win a .45 ACP Para-Ordnance SSP-SE1.

Shameless Plug: "O Canada" Posted

It’s bad enough they missed their target estimate a thousandfold. Passed in 1995 with a projected cost of $2 million, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports the gun registry program has now passed the $2 billion mark, with no end in sight.
"O Canada," my Rights Watch column for the May issue of GUNS Magazine, is now online.

GUNS Magazine, May 1956

The Webley company has suffered severely from the Firearms Act of 1920 which outlawed rifles and pistols for civilians in the British Isles. While this law did little to affect the actions of criminals, it damaged one of our principle British industries. Equally, it left England in a totally undefended state in 1940 when after the evacuation from Dunkirk, we had less than a full division of fighting men properly equipped. This state of unpreparedness was caused directly by the Home Office when the anti-firearm laws were passed.
The folly of disarming the people was known half a century ago, but ignored to the detriment of a nation. "The Colt of England" is one of many great articles featured in GUNS Magazine 50 years ago.

Learn about "The Guns of Annie Oakley." Use the benefit of hindsight to see how the question "Can Burp Guns Replace Rifles?" panned out. Discover "The Most Deadly Pistol Bullet," and see how the fate of a premier gun maker was in question in "Will Colt Come Back?"

All this and more, and of course, the classic ads, are in the May 1956 issue, now online.

"I Urged That Guns Be Banned Years Ago"

In 2002 while doing a programme called "The Best by Request" on GBC radio in which I was the presenter, the crime situation was beginning to take root, so I called on the authorities to ban guns in Guyana. I was laughed at...
And you're still being laughed at, you contemptible fool--by the very "authorities" you wish to give unchecked power to.

A Great Way to Put Someone's Life in Danger

A man allegedly walking around an East San Jose home with a gun prompted San Jose police to surround the house for about an hour this morning while detaining the man and securing five other tenants.

San Jose police Sgt. Nick Muyo said police never found the alleged weapon and cannot say for sure whether the man ever held it. Either way, he did not threaten the other residents, Muyo said, and was therefore not arrested.
Just call in a tip from a pay phone, and society's hysterical anti-gun reflexes will take over from there...

Gun Problem in U.S. Needs Compromise

First off, the you'll-take-my-guns-over-my-dead-body group has to give a little.
Over my dead body, you ignorant little girl.

Disarm Us! We Beg You!

Members of Congress are so cowed by the power of the National Rifle Association that they can't hear a cry from US cities: "Please, help us get handguns off our streets." Congress has even tried to block cities from taking action against gunmakers.
More blather from the "Christian Scientists".

Don't you people have medical treatments to withhold or something?

Un Dia Sin Immigrantes

So I guess yesterday was supposed to make some kind of impact, with all those--how did Geraldo refer to them?--"honored guests" not "doing the jobs Americans won't do"...

I did note traffic on LA freeways was a lot lighter, so presumably there were fewer uninsured motorists on the road.

As for everything else, I cook my own food, do my own yard work, clean my own toilets, wash my own car, raise my own kids, and do all sorts of other jobs Mr. Bush tells us we need guest workers for. Heck, I did bottom rung jobs as a teenager, too, delivering papers, mowing lawns, working at a fast food joint, then graduated to manual labor in warehouses and factories (old timers--you remember those--it's where we actually used to produce things) while in college...

Limbaugh Gun Threat Neutralized By Deal

Under the deal filed Monday, Limbaugh cannot own a gun...
Why?

A Blunder Down Under

"I don't think Australians need guns unless it's for your job, or you are in genuine need of protection".
And, if you can believe the government and the media--and why wouldn't we?--"most Australians" want it that way.

Police Raise Concern Over Life-Like Pellet Gun

"Life-like"?

Must be one of those guns with a mind of their own that go off all by themselves...

What do you suppose it wants, and do you think we can reason with it, or is it just too evil and willful to take that risk?

A New Kind of Gun Exchange

The guns are toys, often look-alike AK-47s or 44-magnums, traded in for other toys at St. Stephen's Academy...It was also a chance for the Save-A-Child organization to photograph and fingerprint children.
And since they're being conditioned to be herd animals, this was also a chance to tag their ears.

A "Rational Campaign" for a Ration of...

The mayors of more than a dozen cities, including Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, concluded they must do what Congress has failed to do: fight for rational gun laws.
Here's the new soundbite--expect to see its use spread.

The antis have been using "common sense gun laws," but I guess that's just not snappy enough. Now the buzzword du jour is "rational," with the clear implication that if you disagree, why, you must be irrational...

Rare Tommy gun sells for $80,500

The gun was originally appraised at $25,000, but sold for more than three times that amount. The top bid -- $80,500.
Perhaps I'm just jaded. I mean, how many sheriffs' departments do we find willing to auction off any gun, let alone a machine gun? And I admittedly know nothing about the purchaser.

But with rich benefactors like George Soros and Andrew McKelvey bankrolling the antis, I can't help but wonder if the guy who's got 80+ Grand for a collector's item has donated anywhere near that amount to defending the Second Amendment.

I hope he has--but if there are wealthy rkba supporters out there, how come they keep such a low profile?

We're the Only Ones Sleeping With Our Colleagues and Shooting Them Enough

A police constable was killed, when his colleague accidentally fired his gun here.
Yeah, this happens to me all the time...

Perverts With Guns

Xavier has gained recognition for his recurring "Idiots With Guns" series. As stupid as some of his subjects are, he's always quick to disclaim:
The purpose of Idiots with Guns is not to humiliate, but to educate.
Meet Verna Bice. This "artist" knows exactly what she's doing, and she's not above using humiliation to indoctrinate. Sorry for linking to pornographic imagery (not due to graphic sexual nature, but because of contrived ugliness), but this is a telling glimpse into how guns are perceived--or at least portrayed--in the mind of Ms. Bice.

This is some sick stuff.
