He called me twice today so far, once prior to takeoff, and again from Houston, where he informed me he suspected the broccoli cheese soup from a joint in Terminal C of having ill effects on him, and asked me to pass that message on to the 100 Heads Life and Casualty Company in case it does him in.
I told him it reminded me of nothing so much as Fry from Futurama getting parasites from eating an egg salad sandwich he got from a truck stop restroom vending machine.

We're the Only Ones Familial Enough
Cop Who Held Wife & Children at Gunpoint in Hostage Standoff With Police, Gets to Stay a Cop [More]Gosh, what a dilemma for "progressives" who say guns need to be confiscated from people accused of domestic violence and police are the Only Ones who should be armed.
Funny, how the monopoly of violence cultists never have anything to say about the myriad instances where their blind faith has been refuted. It's almost like they're a bunch of damned liars or something...

Loretta's Going Down
I think I remember seeing that at a dorm keg party where the guys had rented a projector...
Oh, sorry, bad assumption on my part. [More]

Who in Their Right Mind?
“Who in their right mind would ask the Congress of the United States — who can’t cobble together a fiscal policy — to assume control of monetary policy?” Richard Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, said during an interview with The Hill. [More]Yeah, best to trust us shadowy, unaccountable plutocrats! Besides, you don't want to see how the sausage is made. Or at least we don't want you to.
I don't suppose it occurs to this economic fascist that you could replace "fiscal" and "monetary" with just about any other policy issue, like "defense" or "gun" or...
Not that I'd kneejerk disagree, but somehow I don't think that's what he has in mind...
We're the Only Ones Helpful Enough
“We’re just here to help you — come out with your hands up”... [More]I'm only surprised they didn't yell "Fooled ya!"
Here's the (very slow-loading, for me) "document dump" on the John Geer case. I like how they made a point of taking pictures of all of his firearms, just to make the case for how dangerous their victim was. That oughtta make the due process-free domestic disarmament demanders come in their pants. They reminded me of trophy photos:
I wanted to write this up in greater detail, but there's only one of me, and a plate overflowing with priorities, and I have to content myself to linking you to people who already have a handle on this.

Godspeed, Mike Vanderboegh
I'd also be inclined to ease up on the emails and comment submissions until further notice.
We Don't Particularly Like Guns
But we like the money more. [More]
Read another way, the official position of the Boston University Board of Trustees/Executive Committee is that gun companies do not cause unacceptable social risks and harm.
That's useful, so use it. Start your argument with "No less an authority than..."

Vote Unadulterated "Single Issue"!
Commit suicide the Establishment GOP way! [More]

We're the Only Ones Resourceful Enough
A Bothell police officer accused of having sex with a girl she met while serving as a school resource officer has been charged with sex crimes. [More]Is this is the way "progressives" protect the children -- setting armed predators loose among them?
Hey, at least the resourceful "mentor" was a subject matter expert.
At least she was prepared to respond lickety-split...

Stop Them Before They Kill Again!
Some experts predict that for the first time in decades, firearms will kill more people nationwide this year than motor vehicles. [More]Somebody who thinks that inanimate objects "kill" is considered an "expert"?
By Opposite Day "progressives," I guess yeah...
No mention of DGUs, naturally, which is another front where they've resurrected an old lie for a new audience of ignoramuses.
And if they're really intent on bringing suicide front and center, perhaps they ought to take a look at the Only Ones they want having guns (for now)...

UPDATE: Correspondent MM advises John Lott has deconstructed the numbers, once more illustrating the truism about lies, damned lies and statistics being used by Monopoly of Violence cultists in order to con the gullible into surrendering their rights.
Stolen Valor
Brian Williams admits that his story of coming under fire while in Iraq was false... [More]It's not the first time he's been caught in a lie, but that time it was an "approved" one.
Maybe I'm being too harsh with that characterization. After all, he says:
I made a mistake in recalling the events...That's reminiscent of:
So I made a mistake. That happens. It proves I'm human...Besides, what difference does it make?
This Day in History: February 5
I am also informed by that General Officer, that there are two obstacles which still greatly oppose & retard the success of collecting your Recruits, viz. the want of Provisions to support and carry them to the place of general Rendezvous; and the want of efficacious means for apprehending Deserters... Kurt looks at "progressives" working themselves into an eye-rolling frenzy fantasizing about all the edicts they'd love to be able to impose, and have somebody else can enforce.

‘Hobbit ring’ school suspension merits closer look
What’s unknown is how much of the story as reported comports with the totality of events and what was actually said and done. If all is as related in the OA Online report, it recalls other hysterical overreactions on the part of teachers and school administrators, such as the account of a child suspended for biting a strawberry tart into something supposed adults said looked like a gun, or the teen confronted by officials and police for fantasizing about shooting a neighbor’s pet dinosaur, or my personal favorite, a county-wide school lockdown and detention of a student after a worker misinterpreted the lyrics to “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that accompanied a voicemail. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report looks at those who covet the ring of power to the point of madness.
Be That Way
If that's the way you want it. Karma has a way of catching up. Too bad the animals will no doubt prey on others before they're sent to the oblivion they deserve. [More]
Pity such nullification never seems to take place when a gun rights advocate is charged with the victimless exercising of his right to keep and bear arms.
Hey, if I said anything about deporting the goddamn Somali back to the hellhole he came from to see how he likes justice there, would that make me a racist?

Markley's Law Writ Large
Maybe it's penis envy? [More]
Oh, wait, I know -- its' submission to the will of the dominant males in their lives, because everyone know an armed woman is 3,473,683 times more likely to be the victim of domestic abuse and killed after her gun is taken away from her.
It's settled science!
Sorry, ladies. The people who promote that are "progressives," and we have to assume they're smarter than us and know what's best, right?

No on Lynch
GOA explains why. [More]
We will all come to regret that NRA stood by and did not lead in this, as they have not led in so many other vital areas. This should be a scored vote.
Sadly, the near certain outcome is all too predictable.
