I like the gun control law they had in NY that added 20 years, no parole, to the sentence of any felony committed with a sawed off shotgun.
After that sawed off shotguns went from the criminals to mail boxes.

Unfortunately, Pater2, mere possession of a sawed-off shotgun is a felony, and thus subject to that additional sentence you say you like.
I can think of many situations where defending yourself with such a weapon would result in a felony charge.
It's not the gun--it's the crime.
