Semper Infidelis

A Marine has been arrested, suspended from college and ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation for bringing a handgun and knife to campus – even though he holds a concealed carry permit issued by the state. [More]
It's been done.

I might have chided him for carrying the .22 as well, but for different reasons. A .22 derringer? This guy seems like the sort of able-bodied fella that the old saying "friends don't let friends carry mouseguns" was created for.

Also: duly noted here is yet another sad example of conditioned PSH from the "someone" who reported this grave offense to "the proper authorities". (Do you suppose they gave him a lollipop?) If I'm reading the story right, it wasn't the gun that originally prompted the prosecution of the "no weapons" policy, it was a knife.

"Is it true that long ago firemen put fires out rather than going to start them?"
"No. Houses have always been fireproof, take my word for it."
"Strange. I heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed firemen to stop the flames."
   He laughed.
She glanced quickly over. "Why are you laughing?"
"I don't know." He started to laugh again and stopped. "Why?"
"You laugh when I haven't been funny and you answer right off. You never stop to think what I've asked you."
"You are an odd one," he said, looking at her. "Haven't you any respect?" *

Yeah, that Clarisse McLellan girl just didn't have a clue how things oughta be, did she?

Dang uppity peasants. Why won't they just comply?

And the re-education program the little comrades imposed on him. It was like the intensive brainwashing prisoners of war get in Communist countries. Our future politicians, judges, lawyers, cops. If they had had the authority to sentence him to a psychology department long-term residential experimental conditioning program, I have no doubt they would have enthusiastically done so. You know, a CAMP.
Stalin, in Hell, smiles.
