World War II veteran Daniel J. Daley, 84, suffered a broken neck and is in critical condition at Florida Hospital Orlando, said his son, Greg Daley. [More]Before anybody jumps in with a criticism about appropriate force and about measured responses, be prepared to answer how else you expect us to get him in a position where we can laugh at him when we dump him out of his wheelchair?

I told my WWII combat veteran mother about this one, she's still in the "they're the cops, they're probably right" mode.
This may change that.
Police spokeswoman Barbara Jones said ""An officer's actions are dictated by the suspect's actions."
So what if you're not (or don't know you are) a suspect?
Is it fair to say that your self-defense actions may be dictated by the officer's actions? And that those actions may be detrimental to the officer's well-being?
Or does that argument only work one way?
After all, any prudent man or woman will take violent action when thought necessary. And after all, they are not the Only Ones who know how.
So this cop, 26, can't handle an 84 year-old w/o putting him in the hospital? What an idiot!
