I can't reply there because I refuse to have a facebook account, but nice mention of the Northfield raid in the comments. I remember it, not because I was there in 1876, but because I had a pamphlet from one of my uncles about it. Very much worth referencing about how a bunch of ordinary, local yokels dealt very effectively with a gang of very hardened and determined bank robbers.

I live in South Dakota. Jessi and some of his cronies fled here after the robbery narrowly escaping capture as they jumped a chasm over a creek north of Sioux Falls SD. If I'm not mistaken they also made it as far as western South Dakota before falling victim to the authorities.
