Depending on what the committee finds, there could be a vote to censure or expel Mr. Moore. The many Republican Senators who have already called for him to step aside as a candidate would face a difficult political choice in an election year. If Mr. Moore is a Senator, the media will hang him around the neck of every Republican candidate as Democrats try to drive turnout among women and dispirit GOP voters. [More]The choice isn't difficult at all. You just said it:
"Depending on what the committee finds..."He can either be proven guilty or he cannot be. This business of it's an election, and therefore our standard only needs to be collectivist/establishment-motivated accusations is bullshit. If it can be established the guy committed crimes against minors, then boot him out and let Gov. Ivey appoint a Republican replacement.
What you don't do is what all the #NeverTrump "Republicans" are doing: Cede the seat to the Democrats.
Unless your goals are the same as theirs...
And there's plenty of evidence that's the case with Jeff Flake and Mitt Romney -- much more evidence than there is against Roy Moore for anything. I hope those two subversives enjoy all the accolades they're getting on Twitter from Democrats who will never vote for them and will revert to overtly hating them again the next time they run for office.
